I was really bummed that I didn't know this place earlier because I live right right door in Medinah. Right as you walk in the door, I was warmly welcomed by the staff, encouraging me to oblige them with any requests they can assist me with. I have to be honest, this place is legit, they have trolley carts for "party shopping", and my buddy took complete advantage of their elegant walk-in humidor to pick up a couple shorties and even he was impressed by their "spectrum of collection" of cigars. I also was really impressed by the cleanliness of the store and the clientele (so important). I also found some really rare craft beers. Anyway, I was able to pick up everything we needed for a family Halloween party then we were assisted by the energetic young man at the counter with our purchase. The best part was I wanted to see how they would handle pressure, so I picked up something that I didn't need and wanted it changed at the counter (no very kind of me but it was all in an effort to see how they would serve me) it was a walk in the park. They young man, asked me what I needed instead and he said he would get it for me, all with a smile. He then proceeded to get exactly what I needed and typically you would have to get it yourself but I was truly served. Would recommend coming here because the service here is unique and seeing that the "regulars" walked in to their usual purchase ready at the counter was astounding. Why the need to write so much you ask? Simple cause it's hard to find a store dedicated to true customer satisfaction and a store that has everything you need. Will definitely be stopping back here and recommending Payless tobacco and liquor to friends and family.

My sister-in-law goes to a place in Addison where she gets them for$20 cheaper per carton. That's a $40 savings when I go for cigarettes. That's huge. It's a lighter beer and has a high alcohol content so one beer is just perfect for him to enjoy. I haven't really been out of the house until a few days ago, but decided to stop here on my way home from work this past Friday to see if they carry his beverage of choice. I have never been here before, but due to the size of the store, I figured, they had to carry it. I rarely go to a liquor store, so I just walked in and asked if they carry Duvel and the gentlemen behind the counter looked up and thought about it for a second, and gestured to me to follow him. He walked right up to it and pointed it out to me on the shelf. $16.99 for the 4 pack. Pretty much what they charge at any liquor store I have been to, including Binny's. So I grabbed a 4 pack and walked up to the counter to pay. The same gentleman rang me up and gave me my total....ah! he speaks! I did get a 'thank you' out of him and I told him to 'enjoy his weekend'. The store was a little on the dirty side, but I haven't really been to any liquor stores in a strip mall that aren't dirty, so that's not a big surprise. I glanced at the end caps on my walk up to the counter and they don't appear to really have any great deals to make you want to shop here. It's your standard strip mall liquor store when you can grab a pack of cigarettes, a lottery ticket, a bottle of whiskey and a case of beer. It would have been nice to see a store owner that takes pride in their business and maybe a friendly smile or greeting when you walk in. Nothing really attracting me to shop here again unless absolutely necessary. I think Jewel might carry Duvel, just a little more of a walk to the liquor department.

Although on the rare note, they do have a great selection of craft beers, and often get in some special editions as well! The staff are awesome too! They have helped me select wines and champagnes for holiday times when I didn't know what to choose. They are kind and cheerful. Not just some old grumpy guy behind the counter who hates his job; this place is nice and has a nice atmosphere. If you often drive further to go to some large liquor stores, try these guys out; they probably have what you need, and you will save some gas money!

Beyond the poor service, the prices were notably high. Unfortunately, the quality of the Pink Whitney I purchased was poor--it tasted stale, as if it had been sitting on the shelf for months. After drinking it, I became ill and experienced a severe migraine. I suspect the product may have been expired or improperly stored. I would advise others to inspect bottles carefully before purchasing here.

We even discussed Uncle Nearest whisky! After a recommendation from the owner, I chose the VDR; Very Dark Red wine. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back to try more!
