Jeanne and Robert's gem of a store was a fixture in downtown Arlington Heights for twenty-three years. Fantastic wines at great price points was the main attraction and the housewares selections were equally top notch. Beyond the fantastic products were the amazing cast of characters that crossed the threshold. Customers, vendors, and employees alike congregated within and created quite the social amalgamation. I count myself lucky to be both a customer and a former employee. The eight years I worked there flew by and I'll cherish the conversations, the laughs, and the great moments of life that we shared along the way. I don't know much about hard liquors but they seemed to have a good selection of both that and wines. Mix & Match 6 packs for $10.99 and I put a couple of Lagunitas Sucks in my sixer. Seeing as they just opened, they are taking recommendations for things they should order. I asked them to get some 5 Rabbit in! So hopefully they will. I hadn't been to this location before, so tagged along inside when my brother had to buy beer for his in-laws in Texas. This time I focused my attention in the beer area, and it brought back memories of (cheap) beer very popular in the Chicagoland area, with names like Schlitz and Old Style. It's the Polish beer, Zywiec, that he bought 5 cases of....it's one that can be hard to find in Texas or California. Here in Chicagoland, every Binny's carries it. He managed to fit 4 full cases in his checked bags. I brought the remaining to my wife's aunt's home, where i discovered it's ABV was a hefty 5.6%. It tasted decent to me very cold, and at about a dollar a bottle, not a bad choice for one or two during a really hot day.
