I was super pleasantly surprised by this place…read more It looks a bit eclectic and cobbled together, but in a "what they like" rather than a "what they dragged from a shop to fill a place" so it feels quite homely- the lighting is quite dim downstairs, and there is much more space down there. Now, don't be thrown off by the laminated menu like I nearly was, the food was great, and super cheap for a big afternoon tea. On our table was coffee, earl grey tea, brie and apple sandwiches, coronation chicken sandwiches, fruit scone, turkish delight scone (surprisingly epic, I just had to try it), carrot cake, chocolate fudge cake, for some reason- grapes, a bit of salad, crisps in a tea cup and a couple of little sweets. The staff were lovely, and it really is such good value.

My wife 3kids and myself like the local cafe that is warm friendly and serves good food. The Curiosity shop did not disappoint and is beautifully decorated. If you like the family friendly cafes then this one is perfect. If you like a lovely clean original place this is for you. Lovely decor, lovely hosts, lovely food!!! Will even make a day trip from derby to go back there for lunch!!

During the Summer Months its always packed with Tourists but it also does a brisk local trade too and is popular with regular customers. The Cafe is very popular for the All Day Breakfasts and Fish and Chips. They serve a range of British Home-Cooked Food, from Snacks and Sandwiches to traditional Fish and Chips or Gammon and Egg. The Conwy Cream Teas also go down a treat you'll get some freshly made Sandwiches and a Scone with cream and Jam along with a pot of Tea and Coffee which is perfect for a Quick Lunch time treat. The Staff here are very welcoming and Friendly and enjoy having a Chat with the customers. Both the Food and Drinks are good value, nothing is too over-priced and you get a nice size portion for your money. The Cafe is traditional style, very homely and its a lovely place to meet up with Friends for a Coffee and a Chat as you'll always feel Welcome.

This place looked promising though, attached to a deli it looked like it would have a good selection of sandwiches and other deli foods. It was absolutely packed when we got there and we had to wait 5 mins for a table which was no problem. However, although staff were nice, service was verrrry slow. When it came to ordering food they had ran out of what we wanted even though it was still only 12pm on a Sunday. We ordered some random bits and bobs from the deli and a chorizo hash which was recommended by the waiter. The deli food was ok but that's about it. One of the items was a 'meal' which consisted of the smallest amount of pork pie and some salad for about £9!! The chorizo hash (eventually) came and was incredibly oily with what can only be described as a deep fried egg on top. Probably wouldn't go back from this experience and wouldn't recommend to others really. Maybe it was just a bad experience due to numbers of customers. I understand that it was a busy Sunday and standards may slip and things may take a little longer, but really, this place should consider reducing the number of tables by 1 or 2. You could barely even move in the place with the amount of people in there ! 2*

I feel the menu made the items sound more exciting than the end product (my wife had the cheese and chili relish toastie which was pretty bland) but it's still a good pick amongst the many cafes catering to the blue rinse/denture crowd.
