In Llandudno for 5 days on a break. Having stuffed ourselves at breakfast and after numerous cups…read moreof coffee before our trip on the Great Orme Tramway, we needed substinance and found this lovely little café. The Rabbit Hole is a Social Enterprise set up by Aberconwy Mind to provide real work experience and training for "people who are experiencing or have experienced mental health issues" All profit is put back into the charity to continue delivering valuable support, training and mentoring for their trainees. It has a lovely atmosphere and being down below street level it is like entering into the world of Alice with its clock wall paper. You can either sit at the tables near the kitchen or in the wonderful lounge with its rather comfy sofa and walls decorated with book wallpaper. The staff in the Rabbit Hole are lovely and polite, willing to help and explain the drinks and menus to you, also letting you know which of the foods that are available are gluten-free, suitable for vegans and if they have nuts in or not. As this was a "light" lunch, we had a lovely soup and then coffee and cake but the menu looked inviting.. The choice is great and it was very helpful of the "Rabbit" chef to explain what each cake was and what was in it. It has free wifi and I embarrassed myself somewhat by asking the guy on the laptop how long he was going to be, only to discover it was his laptop and not for general use. He was great and let me use it and I gave him the name of a website "Food that doesn't hurt" as he was looking for good recipies. Both of us happy chappies. It is very good value for money and a lovely place to sit and chat. Highly recommended if you are ever in Llandudno,

Finally catching up on my reviews from a trip Sue and I took to Wales in July…read more One of our first stops after landing in Manchester was in Conwy. We stopped here as this is the town where Sue's mom was born. After wandering around on a Saturday morning we sought out a place that we might find a proper Welsh breakfast. We came upon the store part on the bottom floor and while inside I noticed a sign for a cafe just up the stairs. Mentioned it to Sue and we took a look. Cute little place. Busy on an overcast Saturday morning. We saw that they offered a Welsh breakfast and we were sold. The breakfast consisted of good toast and Welsh butter, sausage and bacon (you read that correctly), mushrooms, tomatoes and sunny side up eggs. It hit the spot after a long flight from the states. A good way to start a trip.

Yummm. I'm still craving the food I had here, and it's been about 2 weeks…read more.. I ordered a baked potato and chose to have mushrooms and cheese on it. My boyfriend ordered the brie and cranberry panini which I was also tempted by. Let me start by saying this- I love baked potatoes. I know what a good potato is, and all I can say is that The Press Room Cafe has amazing baked potatoes. At least the mushroom one is. It's served with a pile of cheese that melts quickly, and a stack of seasoned mushrooms that leave a nice sauce for you to dip the potato skin in. My favorite part was definitely the latter. It's also served with a decent salad- I enjoyed the dressing. I could only steal a few bites of the brie and cranberry panini, but it was as good as I expected. It's difficult to explain how the flavors compliment each other so nicely, but they do!

I was super pleasantly surprised by this place…read more It looks a bit eclectic and cobbled together, but in a "what they like" rather than a "what they dragged from a shop to fill a place" so it feels quite homely- the lighting is quite dim downstairs, and there is much more space down there. Now, don't be thrown off by the laminated menu like I nearly was, the food was great, and super cheap for a big afternoon tea. On our table was coffee, earl grey tea, brie and apple sandwiches, coronation chicken sandwiches, fruit scone, turkish delight scone (surprisingly epic, I just had to try it), carrot cake, chocolate fudge cake, for some reason- grapes, a bit of salad, crisps in a tea cup and a couple of little sweets. The staff were lovely, and it really is such good value.

My wife 3kids and myself like the local cafe that is warm friendly and serves good food. The Curiosity shop did not disappoint and is beautifully decorated. If you like the family friendly cafes then this one is perfect. If you like a lovely clean original place this is for you. Lovely decor, lovely hosts, lovely food!!! Will even make a day trip from derby to go back there for lunch!!

So after your walk up to…read morethe top there's a place to grab cakes and other snacks along with hot drinks and bottled water. There is a pay and display car park situated very close by so this cafe is reachable even if you only want to do a quick and easy walk. There's both tables inside and outside so you can either cool down or warm up depending on the weather. The views surrounding the cafe are absolutely stunning. There's mini golf and a decent sized play area to keep children entertained as well. Prices are a little steep but due to its location, I wouldn't really expect to find a bargain.

I recently took the kids up to the summit of the Great Orme and having taken in the views and…read moreplayed in the little park there we headed to the cafe for a quick drink before heading home. Unfortunately we got there just after a tram had arrived as well as a minibus tour so there was a huge queue and all the tables were taken. We decided to give it ten minutes for things to quiten down then tried again. Having got into the queue alarm bells started to ring as we passed a display of cakes. The cakes looked very nice but were priced at £3+ each!!!! I looked up at the price list on the wall and saw that small fizzy drinks were priced at £1.70 each!!!! Now this might be ok if the premises didn't have the same ambience as a works canteen or at the very least offered the same sort of views you get from standing outside. Unfortunately only a small number of tables are adjacent to the windows so most of the tables only offer views of the other mugs queuing up to be fleeced. I decided I didn't fancy paying £3.40 for two small cups of pop when I could head back into town and buy two 500ml bottles of pop for a quid in Poundland so we opted to give the Captain's Table a miss. I'd very strongly advise visiting the Orme summit (just pick a clear day) but I'd also strongly advise taking a picnic unless you really want to have to take out a second mortgage just to buy a cup of tea.
