My partner and I decided to set a date for our wedding shortly after we got these rings, so one of the first orders of business was to have the rings resized for my (I think fairly normal sized) fingers. I got a quote from a downtown store close to my office, and for the diamond engagement ring to be resized as well as the prongs re-done (the ring is platinum), it was gong to cost about $600 (plus tax). I asked my partner to get a quote from Trinity, so we could compare. For the exact same work (resizing the ring in platinum and re doing the prongs), the cost from Trinity was $180 (plus tax). What a price difference! Resizing the wedding band was only $80. My partner left them at Trinity immediately because it was such a good price. On top of that, the rings were done within a week, and the workmanship is excellent. My heirloom rings look beautiful. I'd highly recommend this place.

His response was to yell insults and swear at me, telling me never to return to his store. Paid him for the work, then asked for change. The nerve of me. He gave me change, continued to curse at me and threated me again,' He is a very poor business person, located in a dirty and cluttered little shop, so perhaps he has reason to be angry. Just don't take it out on customers who ask you to wear a mask for their safety and that of others. Will happily comply with the request to not return to the shop and will not be able to do the other things suggested.

Instead of repairing my grandfather clock, they replaced the whole movement without consulting me and thus decreased the authentic value. Now the cuckoo clock does not ring in the hours but the dancers do go around as supposed to do. Have no idea where to go now instead of Germany for a new clock. Very unhappy camper and poorer too.

I had approached several other Halifax companies over the last few years, all of whom had discouraged me, suggesting that the watch would never keep time properly, it would have to send it to Montreal for cleaning, and probably wasn't worth the cost or effort. The owner of VIna's eyes brightened when he saw the watch and indicated that he could certainly do the required watch. It was ready on precisely the day he promised and it looks and works perfectly, keeping excellent time. As a result of the success with this watch, I asked about another, quite fine watch, that had lost its watch crystal and, as a result, the hands which were unusually small. I had tried to have this favourite watch repaired various places in the city; one had contacted the company which had made the watch, and they reportedly responded that they no longer had parts for this watch. A company I contacted in Montreal gave a similar response. After several years, I'd given up trying to have the watch repaired, although I had resisted the suggestion from one local company that I just leave it with them for parts. Given the quality of the service Vina's had provided for the Bulova, I left the watch with them to see whether they might be able to do something to fix it. When I returned, the watch was completely restored. The owner had found among his extensive collection of parts both the crystal and the hands; he showed me the original paper work for their purchase dated in the 1980s! This is a truly remarkable shop. An extraordinarily knowledgeable craftsman with a deep love for all things related to watches and clocks. The work was done perfectly and was ready on precisely the day promised. The costs were considerable, but perfectly reasonable for what was done. I have since recommended VIna's to someone who wanted to have a vintage Rolex from the 1940s restored. They too were delighted with the quality of the work and the service. If you have a watch of some value on which you would like work to be done, this is certainly the place to go in Nova Scotia.

Most recently, a $300+ mechanical watch failed (from what I can tell) due to the poor quality of the Fossil movement. When bought new, from this very store, in 2016 I was informed that it came with an 11 year warranty. Now, when I take it in 5 years later with a problem that should 100% be covered (according to their watch warranty coverage) I am told their watches only carry a 2 year warranty and that I'm out of luck. Basically, Fossil's warranty means absolutely nothing, because they will always find a way to weasel their way out of it. The salesperson I spoke to was clearly on autopilot, regurgitating their BS line on this. I'm sure she is well practiced, considering they must get a lot of these complaints sure to the shifting warranties and poor quality of the products. I'm never buying anything from Fossil again, and will make sure to advise anyone I know to do the same.
