The lovely sales lady spent over half an hour with me choosing the perfect gift, and even gift wrapped it in Christmas paper no less! They have a wonderful selection, there is literally something for everyone here. There are modern pieces, a small selection of estate jewellery, more classics or boho type pieces, and even a small selection for men. There is also a huge price range which is nice, many affordable pieces in the $50-100 range and also some precious stones and metals in the $500 + range. I myself have been in this location many of times just to look at all the beautiful pieces that are for sale or to see what was being produced. What I mean is that not only do the sell jewelry as well as Estate Jewelry they will customer design and create some of the most unique and exquisite designs that you will see. I love to go in and look in the counters and glass cases to get some ideas. As well they are able to repair your jewelry as well. This is where you go to get Diamonds, not Fireworks. I just wanted to clear that up first and foremost. Let me explain the number one reason why I love Fireworks Gallery. Its not because they design their own jewelry and mix it among the other name brand jewelry they sell. It isn't because the customer service is very good. It is because about half of their diamonds come from Canada. Why is that so important? Well if you haven't heard of "blood diamonds" and aren't aware of the damage to peoples lives diamonds bought in certain areas of the world can cause, I'd suggest you do some research. So when you buy diamonds found in Canada, you are guaranteed that bad things aren't happening to good people to get that diamond from the Mine to your hand. The Staff have also informed me that they are trying to sell only Arctic Canadian diamonds which will eventually mean 100% of their inventory can be traced back to a Canadian Mine. This means, not only are they a local store selling local and name brand jewelry, but they are a conscious business looking after the welfare of those who make the products they sell. Their products are fantastic as well. Very unique designs and for the most part fair prices. I would definitely say they are competitive with their pricing but it is still a bit high and why I don't have five stars. But I did wrestle with whether or not I should or shouldn't give them five stars. Because I feel their prices are close to ideal and choosing to sell only Canadian Diamonds, thus avoiding any "blood diamonds" coming in, deserves a few stars at the very least. It's hard not to sigh when you enter Fire Works Gallery. Everything is so... glittery. I don't even wear much jewellery, but when I'm in this shop, I have a strange desire to festoon myself with silver and gold. The shop is filled with unique artisanal jewellery and is known for its custom design work. My partner and I had rings (which we designed) custom-made here years ago for our tenth anniversary. The silversmith did great work, exactly to our specifications. Staff are courteous and knowledgeable, and the shop is always busy - even in these times of "restraint." The Fireworks Gallery stepped up to the plate and hit a solid home run this afternoon when I ducked inside for a peek. I was greeted by a cheerful, helpful woman who explained the store's layout. There are loads of Canadian designers, along with a showcase dedicated to pieces made on site. The light was great for viewing the details of individual pieces, and the displays were tasteful and well arranged. I marveled at some pieces in the estate section, and enjoyed looking at a collection by Halifax designer Peter Lawrence. I was also taken by Becky Kelso's work (I don't remember her place of origin). My ultimate favorite was a delightful line called Tashi, which took its inspiration from the natural world, modern design elements and perhaps Buddhist stylings. This shop caters to a variety of budgets and provides topnotch customer service, sure to make any visitor feel welcome and appreciated. I'll definitely start popping in more often! read more

Fireworks is a charming jewelry store in downtown Halifax. Most of their stock are custom or artisan pieces, making it almost certain for you to find the piece you've been looking for. The staff at Fireworks is incredibly helpful, even when you're just window shopping. I've been in many times and never have I gotten the feeling of being a nuisance, unlike other stores that tend to dismiss you if you're not ready to dole out some serious change on the spot. Fireworks' custom jewelry is amazing. Beautiful rings abound, with many appropriate for a commitment ceremony or wedding. Many of the pendants are beautifully crafted, both delicate and handsome at the same time. Also mixed in are some well-priced manufactured pieces. I had purchased a diamond ring designed by their in-house designer for $3500 in 2015. Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to return the ring (that was hardly worn). I was realistic and knew I would not get much for it but I thought it would be of value to them since it was made in house. They gave me an option of an in store credit of $675 or $300 cash (less than 10% of the purchase price) in 2017. Due to the low ball offer they gave me I decided to hold on to the ring at the time. I went back to ask if they would honour the $675 dollar credit so I could purchase a Christmas present for my fiancé and they said they weren't sure if they could and had to ask the owner. This was fine but I did not anticipate it taking 6 weeks to get back to me with an answer. My reasoning for the 1 star is that they wouldn't even honour their pathetic $675 dollar store credit and said they were not interested in their own in-house designed ring. Clearly they do not think much of their own products so why should consumers? Very poor business model and very poor service response. Think twice before purchasing something from their Gallery that is clearly of low value to them. read more

Initially my reaction to Fireworks Gallery was: ho-hum...just another jewelry store chalk full of items I can not remotely afford. This was until I learned about the massive niche they fill in terms of carrying exclusively conflict-free diamonds. Not only that, but Fireworks also encourages local designers to use recycled gold from old jewelry as opposed to newly mined stuff. Stopped in here to find wedding bands. We've looked at a few of the typical stores in the mall for bands and they carry the typical bands you'd expect to find. FireWorks is different. The sales associate who helped us was friendly and knowledgeable. She asked questions to try and help with the decision making process. Other places were friendly but not really digging for answers to understand what you are really "digging" or not. It seems to be a little more expensive than the "typical" mall jewellery store, but I think it will be worth the additional cost over time. read more

I would, without a doubt, recommend Fireworks Gallery for any of your jewelry needs! My engagement ring is an heirloom from my fiance's family and obviously completely irreplaceable. As with most antiques, my ring needed a little work. I was very nervous to let anyone handle and work on something so important. Daisy, the staff member assisting us, took the time to explain the whole process to us and to answer all of my questions. When I got my ring back in a very timely manner, it looked incredible - better than either of us could have ever imagined! We were thrilled. I could not speak higher of Fireworks and I am so confident in their services after the incredible experience we had there.They also have really unique jewelry and can probably custom make just about anything. Horrible experience with Fireworks repair. 2016: - I go to Fireworks for ring resizing - Rep says because the resize is ±1/2 size, they will not add gold, just stretch - Rep also says if it were a larger resize up then there would be an additional charge for the weight of the added gold - They are the experts, so I say sure 2018: - Ring has become cracked and forms a v at the back where they resized it - I bring it back, asking them honour their repair - Rep says, they would never resize without adding gold and this ring cracked because it was simply too thin - I ask for copies of the receipts - Receipts confirm that they did not add gold - Fireworks refuses to honour the quality of the repair This is a quick summary of an awful customer experience. Bottom line is that Fireworks provided a very poor quality of repair, repeatedly lied to me, and refused to fix their mistake. There are other Jewelers in Halifax who do work on site, so there is no need to use Fireworks. read more

With five goldsmiths on staff who offer professional jewellery repair and restoration, as well as design and create all the jewelry sold here, this store is one of a kind and offers something more than other, traditional jewelry stores in the city. The stock of jewelry is one of a kind. Fireworks offers gold, and sterling settings with custom diamond inlays. Bridal rings are big here as well, and because they can create custom pieces, you can walk away with a one of a kind ring to call your own. This certainly isn't the type of place that I would go with the intention of casually buying anything. Prices are pretty steep, but I did have my eye on a Celtic knot ring that was pretty cool, so I might have to drop some hints about it. I never thought I'd review a jewelry store, but this place is my go to last minute store before anniversaries, birthdays, and xmas. I consistently have a good experience there. I always feel like they're sticking it to me at the mall or chain stores because I don't know a thing about jewelry. This place has unique stuff, but the main draw is that the staff are unbelievably patient and knowledgeable, and don't rush me or make me feel like a chump when I tell them my modest budget up front. There's also enough of them to give you some personalized service. If you're a clueless husband/boyfriend looking to get something unique, keep your cash local, avoid a lot of upselling, and have a good customer experience... this is the place to go in Halifax IMO. (Also, they were really nice to my cranky 2 year old and kept him busy while I got help, and that's on Dec 24 at their busiest. That's the kind of service I'm talking about.) read more

Had trouble finding a wedding band that I liked at all the other shops and came to Fireworks looking for something that was more my style. I worked with one of the sales staff to design something simple yet elegant based on the samples in the store. It worked out great! I do have to say that some of the staff were less caring than others about my ring and the purchasing process (maybe because I wasn't buying a very expensive ring?) so pick your person carefully! read more

The selection and unique items in this store are really quite nice. There are one-of-a-kind pieces from artists and they are quite beautiful. From a service perspective, I've had great experiences buying in this store, however I recently had an item repaired and unfortunately the repair failed. When I brought it back I was surprised at the attitude I received. Really quite snobby and not even a smile on the sales woman's face. I guess if you want to buy something in this store, they will be all over you, but look out if you have to bring something to be repaired. Quite the change of tune. read more

They have some pretty pieces for sale, but DO NOT TAKE ITEMS HERE FOR REPAIR!!!! I had a downright awful experience. When my engagement ring was returned with a diamond missing after bringing it in to Fireworks (to repair the first time they sized it for me, when they also made an error), I told the sales person I wanted to return my ring to Birks (where it was purchased) so that I could be sure to get it back in the right size, and with all the diamonds of the same quality as when I brought it into them in the first place. After some discussion, he gave me his card, apologized for the upsetting experience, and told me to "send him the invoice when the work was completed". I sent him the invoice, didn't hear back. Called to follow up and had a conversation with the owner, who accused me of making up the story, said that they would absolutely not pay for the repair work, and continued to rant about why on earth I'd send my ring to Birks to be repaired. I'd say because I got it back fitting perfectly, with all three diamonds. So disappointed with the service. And, to think, I was planning on buying some pieces for my bridesmaids there.
