UPDATE: Since posting this review, we received a call from the office and our issue was resolved. They were very nice when speaking with them and offered us compensation for all the inconvenience. I am updating to 3 stars as a result of this resolution. Thanks. We got a quote and specifically asked about asbestos removal. The sales person repeatedly said it would be taken care of. We told him we are selling our home and will need to provide disclosures. We came to find out they were not going to use a licensed asbestos removal contractor. It seems he was just going to remove the suspected asbestos with no testing, etc. When we told him our HOA will not approve the work without someone that will test and provide a certificate, he said that would cost an additional $3000 dollars. Every other bid we got quoted $1500-$1800 for asbestos removal and certification. When we let them know we could not use them because they did not have a license to remove asbestos, we asked for our deposit back. At first they said they would return it. Now they do not answer our calls. This contractor was dishonest and then tried to fleece us. I would definitely not recommend or use. read more

Worst EVER customer service. I was trying to get them to come out and fix two issues that were causing flooding in our back yard. After over a month of calling and talking to their very sweet receptionist, I was finally able to get someone to come take a look. He did nothing, but look at the job and swear they would make things right, and said he'd send his plumber out to fix the issues. When the plumber came out, he only looked at the issues and agreed with me that they needed to fix things, but said he was just supposed to report what he saw, before they could schedule to do the work. Well, after leaving a new message at least twice a week for 5 weeks and only getting the phone answered when I used someone else's phone with promises to call me back. I talked to the receptionist 5 or 6 times and left at least a dozen messages, and NOBODY EVER Called me back. The receptionist was always surprised that no one called me, that she had passed on the messages, but twice when she told me that SHE would call me right back, she totally ghosted me. After spending around 3 months trying to get Totally Green to fix things, I finally gave up, which I am sure was their plan all along. I have had someone else fix the problems of which, one was totally their fault, and the other was probably something they should have caught before covering with concrete, or would have seen if they tested the system. It is my opinion that Totally Green Builders should not have a contractor's license, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone but my worst enemy, for anything. I am so happy with my bathroom renovation. It is beautiful. The bathroom looks twice as large. I was having water dripping into my kitchen. I called Nicky to get his plumbing team. He had installed new vinyl flooring and LED lights in 2022. He came over right away. Nicky's team found a leak from my tub and one from my neighbors shower. There was mold. They did mold remediation and updated all the plumbing. They put in sliding glass doors, two shampoo niches, and a combo shower head/sprayer. I had purchased chrome sink handles, which they installed in both my bathrooms. Throughout the project Nicky communicated with me on a daily basis. I will call him again for anything else. I want to start by saying that the refresh of my bathroom in a recently purchased condo in Laguna Woods turned out really, really well. My wife and I are very happy with the results from Totally Green Builders. That said: From the beginning, I had to resist fairly insistent upsell efforts for a new custom vanity several thousand dollars more than I told them we wanted to spend. Same with a new, and badly needed, shower door. As a result I myself supplied a very nice $1,000 vanity from Wayfair and the backsplash panels to go with it. In an additional moment of insight, I also decided to replace the floor tiles with tiles identical to the ones my wife had earlier added to her bath, thus helping to tie the two rooms together visually, a welcome design element in a home just shy of 1000 square feet. To their credit, TGB came through with a pair of sliding frosted shower doors very much in keeping with my taste and price range. Overall, the work went way more slowly than it should have. Dates promised came and went. It got very frustrating. But In all cases, the workers TGB supplied did a stellar job. The installation of the new vanity and backsplash, the demo of the old floor tile and replacement with the new, those stunning new shower doors and finally, and more prosaically, the original existing bathroom mirror which had been languishing against the wall in our bedroom for what seemed like forever. read more

Scary, weird estimator came to my house who knew nothing about Totally Green, OR what goes into painting a house. Asked me no questions, just took a million pictures which made me feel like I was being staked out for a future burglary. Didnt write anything down. Couldnt tell me why company called "Totally Green", and gave wrong answer as to how long they have been in business. Quoted a price to paint my house that was EIGHT times the going rate. When we said that was way out of line, he couldnt explain why they might be worth it. Instead, insinuated we could "negotiate". VERY sketchy. Arrived in a crappy dented car, wore strange non professional clothes, did not provide a biz card or any identification. Didnt have info on the company other than a door knob marketing flyer (and only after I asked for that). I would never interact with this company again, nor would I let a representative inside my home. Ever. Wish I could give a negative star. I saw other reviews with similar experience, and saw that Totally Green replied that the estimator was a third party. That is no excuse. They should not have people representing them without better vetting. It makes me wonder who they hire to do the actual work. Beware!!! read more

Similar situation to what others said here today. A silver Honda Accord pulled up to our house while doing some yard work in the front yard. Middle-aged African American man started yelling from his car window if we were interested in having our house painted. He then parked his car and came out, even though we declined the offer. Said he was from Totally Green Builders and began offering all kinds of services. Was very insistent and wouldn't take no for an answer. There were others in the car as well. As a retired contractor from California and both my brothers in the building trade our whole lives, my 88 year old mother of Glendale hired this company to put half a tile roof on her home which is about an 800 to 900 square foot area, not even a whole roof. My mother, without consulting her sons, went and got a loan for nearly 60K. My mother is on a fixed income and doesn't even own a car anymore because she can't afford it. We believe you took advantage of her and overcharged her by over 40,000 dollars. WOW.... I called the building dept of City of Glendale to see if even a permit was pulled and according to them no permit was pulled and my mom said they told her that they did pull a permit. Here is your only chance to make good on it after taking advantage of an elderly woman. Shame on you. read more

I got a cold call from this company. That should have been my 1st warning, my wife and I were having a conversation about remodeling our kitchen when the phone rang. Normally I don't entertain any calls but I thought maybe it was meant to be, I'll just get an estimate. We set a time and date and they showed up about 1 hour late, no call saying hey we are on our way we hit traffic or whatever. 2nd warning sign. I asked them to leave and call to reschedule as I was out of time. The gentleman insisted that he could make it quick and I felt bad although I shouldn't have. So I agreed. He came in measured and showed us samples. My wife and I had little idea as to what we wanted to do and he very quickly came up with a lot of great ideas one of which we ultimately decided on. The price started higher than I expected but we negotiated and in the end, we were happy with the agreed cost. Left a small deposit for a 3d rendering of our future kitchen, and they had someone come out and do the rendering and complete the design choosing all our options. To this point, everything went by the numbers and we were happy with our decision. We were not expecting to pull the trigger on this project as we had just started discussing it so we asked to schedule a few months out so we could get everything in order on our end. Demolition day came and the crew was fast, clean-tapeing off the area laying drop clothes doing their best to keep the mess contained. At the end of the demo day, some Black Mold was discovered and everything had to stop for safety concerns. The contractor called out a company to test to confirm the presence of Mold and it was Mold. The contractor stated he had a company he worked with in these situations and he would contact them and get a quote for the Mold remediation and drywall repairs. This is where it got ugly. The contractor came back a few days later and explained the scope of work needed and the cost. The cost seemed high to me so I tried to negotiate but he was not willing to come down as much as I thought he should. Not being an expert myself I suggested I get a 2nd opinion and if it came back in the same ballpark he would have the green light. He got very offended that I would need a 2nd opinion and said if I got a 2nd opinion then he would cancel the contract. This was my 3rd red flag so I said no matter what I am getting a 2nd opinion if you want to cancel that is your decision. So he canceled the contract. I paid for the work that had been completed in full and he canceled the contract. As my kitchen was completely torn down to the subfloor and drywall with black Mold. I called a Mold remediation company to give me a quote for the same scope of work and it cost me less than 1/4 of what the other contractor had told me. Now I understood why he didn't want a 2nd opinion. I saved over 20k just on that one decision. Ultimately we completed our kitchen in the time frame we set out. It looks amazing and we added things we thought we couldn't have originally because of cost. Overall very respectful and clean work we just couldn't afford to go with them. I wish he wouldn't have told me what I wanted to hear and be honest with his price we could have saved a lot of time. Get everything in writing and get a 2nd estimate to compare. We had a new roof done by Totally Green Builders in May 2024. They requested most of the money upfront for the job. We paid over 50 % upfront, well above the standard 10 %. The work was not done in a timely or professional manner. They took the tiles and underlayment off the roof for two weeks before doing any more work on the roof. After the roof was exposed to the elements for two weeks there was little communication about the timeframe for when the work would be completed. Later we found out that the manager went on vacation. During the two-week period it rained on the roof and there was no tarp placed on the roof to protect it. The crew also left a large ladder strapped to the top of the second story of our house for two weeks. The manager was called about the ladder, and he said he was "on it," but it was never removed. This was a safety concern as there are many children in the area that could have gotten hurt if they climbed up the ladder. They broke one of the roof boards, did not fix the hole and placed the new underlayment right over the hole. We requested that they fix the hole many times to no avail. Later the hole was fixed after they redid the roof a second time. The underlayment was not laid properly the first time they did the job. The job was not done in a timely manner again; they started the job and then left the underlayment for four more days on our roof before doing any more work on it. We had an inspector evaluate the underlayment, he said that it was not laid evenly, and that the ripples and waves would expose the roof to air, sun, wind and dust which would destroy the adhesive on the underlayment. We met with the owner, and he promised that he would redo the roof with his top crew. Yet after talking with some of the workers they said that they had never worked for Totally Green Builders before. The second time the roof was done the quality of material was poor. The wood, roof battens were untreated pine. We had the roof inspected by two different roofers and they both said the wood was untreated pine and that it was cheaper, but not recommended to use raw pine. They said that the untreated pine is not appropriate for exterior use and that it would only last a few years: around 2-5 years. We were told by Totally Green that the materials were appropriate for exterior roofing and that the job would last the standard 30 years or more. The manager stated that battens were treated and that they would send us a sample of what they used for the battens, but we were never given the sample. The problem with untreated pine battens is that when the wood starts to rot it will expand and put pressure on the roofing boards and potentially warp the boards, break tiles, cause leaks, and major damage to the roof. The job passed inspection, but we were not there to see if the inspector got up on the roof and opened it to check the batten quality. We let the owner know we were not satisfied with the batten quality, and he claimed that it passed inspection and that it was done. Overall, it was an unsatisfying experience, and we were very disappointed with Totally Green Builders' lack of professional integrity. As a result of the poor quality, we are in the process of looking for a new roofer to redo the roof entirely. read more
