This is hands down our favorite place to shop when it comes to alcohol! The store is always clean, super organized, and the selection is MASSIVE. Whether you're looking for wine, craft beer, spirits, or something new to try, they've got it! Pricing is solid, and we've always found it to be competitive. We've even done comparisons to the Costco Liquor Store and have found Total Wine to be around the same price and cheaper at times depending on the item. One thing that's been really cool to see is their growing THC/CBD section. It's expanded a ton and they've done a great job curating options if you're curious about exploring that space. The staff is also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. If you're unsure what to grab, they'll point you in the right direction without making you feel overwhelmed, PLUS there are SO MANY STAFF members that are always eager and willing to help! Every time we've gone in we've always been approached by at least 2 teams members to see if we need help. Bonus: they frequently have samplers throughout the week so you can try something new before committing to a bottle and if they don't have samplers they often have open bottles of some of the liquors that you can ask to sample as well, typically designated by labels on the shelf. Yeah, I have Total Wine & More where I live in Tacoma also. So what am I doing going to one here in Texas? Well for one I do love going to Total Wine locations that aren't particularly close to where I live. They often have a good variety of local or regional coverage for the area I'm in in regards to craft beer. So Steve and I stocked up on a lot of beer that was based in Austin or the surrounding area. Quite a few were on my list to try from the selection here which really made the two of us thrilled! So that's why I enjoy hitting Total Wine. But even my local one isn't shabby either even though the beer brands are very familiar sometimes a new one springs on us from around the corner in regards to selection. read more

I don't drink often but I'm celebrating a lot in life so I picked up a nice bottle of champagne to enjoy during the holidays! I also picked up a nice gift basket for white elephant. I LOVE all of the free tasting--they usually have them every day! When you walk in you're usually greeted immediately, and assisted if you need help. I love looking at wine selection and occasionally the non-alcoholic drinks they carry! There was one male worker just kinda moping around and not being helpful... *** Buyer Beware for Events / Weddings *** Please do not waste your time or money purchasing items from any Total Wine for any event or wedding. You will end up hating your life, trust me. To start, you cannot place an order in advance. When you ask them about policies, everyone will tell you something different. On the actual day of the wedding, they canceled 12 different items in our order and we had to DoorDash the items from a local liquor store at 3x the cost. This location specifically said that we were able to return items being delivered and then blatantly refused to do so after the event, even though their own employees made the error. Save yourself from going insane and wasting an unspeakable amount of time and just shop at Spec's. read more

This is a very clean store with an excellent variety of beers, way better than Specs. They are also cheaper than Specs. The problem? The price that rings up on the register is always higher than it is marked on shelf. It has become comical. I now take a picture of shelf price before getting in line. And it has happened on like six or seven different types of beers, maybe more. It's really caused me to question whether this is a deliberate tactic. It is usually $1, although it is sometimes $2. Now, if you challenge it, they will call the manager over to change the price. And they never do a price check, almost like they know. And before you say, well they haven't caught up with inflation. No, that's not it. And I get it, $1, big deal. But there is a principle involved. By the way, happened again today. read more

Unfortunately, there are more ridiculous decisions being made by Total Wine. Recently, I was informed that I was selected to receive a bottle of a limited number of Blanton's When I went to the store, I was told that I needed to be at the store at 10a. While I understand that a limited number of bottles are available, I do not see any upside in wasting peoples' time and irritating customers. People have better things to do with their time than wasting time waiting in line for a basic bottle of alcohol. My favorite go to place for browsing, delivery, or wishful reading. What has been truly interesting is that many items that were first introduced as Spirits Direct selections have risen to the Premium Brands. Now they do have all kinds of magnificent selections that can even run over a thousand dollars a bottle. I know what I want and zero in on that, but keep an eye out for something new. I am fortunate enough to be familiar with the many flavors so I really don't need to ask for help. However, many times I have helped others who were not sure what to buy and can provide my own recommendations. As an example, there was 3 younger folks (I am old), about college age, and they wanted to buy an expensive bottle of Bourbon but only could go by TV commercials and price tags. I asked if they were going to drink it and when affirmed I spent about a half an hour with them explaining my experience with certain selections. Two were going to mix theirs with a cola (ugh) while one drank his neat. So right there there were two different types of styles which I recommended so the really good stuff would not go to waste being mixed with a cola. On wines, I recommend you do your research as highly rated wines may not reach their full potential for several years and can vary wildly from year to year due to the weather. I have several bottles which fit that category that are now matured and ready to enjoy. Also remember that transportation and storage can have an adverse effect. So don't stress, just get what you want for what you are going to have. Going to have a margarita party? Don't buy expensive Tequila unless you a going to make them from scratch. I also avoid mixes. Two or three scratch made margaritas can make for a lovely evening. If you like oysters, stroll over to the wine section and look for an oyster on the label. Yum! read more

The employees here make finding whatever you are looking for super easy. Everyone I talked to today was friendly, pointed me in the right direction and gave great recommendations. Total Wine is a pretty nice liquor store where the store layout is very organized. It also feels a little high end with taste testings and product placements. They have a wide selection of liquor, wine, and beer. I even found some exotics like moonshine from the TV show 'Moonshiners'. And carry many local Austin and Texas brands. My trip included finding a nice bottle of Rosé, bourbon and a few mini single serving bottles to sample. The staff was very nice. It's easy to shop online from their website to pickup curbside. Service is typically quick, accurate, and convenient. Curbside is free with a $35 order; otherwise a minimal service charge applies. They were already my inside favorite based on the wonderful in-store atmosphere and experience. An employee directed me to another employee who turned out to be the manager, and he personally walked me around the store and gave me his own personal opinions on which bottles to get. Amazing. Total Wine is THE best place to come if you are like me - curious, excited to try something new, looking for some advice on what else I can try, etc then you have come to the right spot for your libations. Total Wine has some very knowledgeable employees who are willing to walk you through the entire store if you requested that. The prices are the best in the area for all of it - liquor, beer, wine, mixers, etc. It's a one stop shop where you just might end up finding a cooler-than-the-one-you-have-at-home cocktail shaker or wine stoppers too. This store is amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We went in looking for a great bottle of wine to pair for a dinner party and Sharyn guided us in the right direction. After a few samples, we decided to stick around and see what else we could get into. Enter Tim. He overheard us talking about Mezcal and brought us over to a station where he happened to have some ready to taste. When the dust settled, my wife and I walked out with our arms full (we thought getting a basket would mean we'd buy more). After some great rye, a bottle of mezcal, another bottle of wine and some a Fireball party pack we were done. I literally drive here from the downtown all the time. They have the best selection of wines. The store is immaculate, everything is always stocked and neatly arranged. Every aisle boasts incredible variety and even better pricing. While I do love to come here for personal needs, they have amazing assortment of mixers that I buy for the business as well. Perfect flavors, bottles and prices are unbeatable. Every single time I go they have tastings available and lots of themed specials. I use to check out Total Wine and More a lot when I lived in the DC metro area. I even attended a sweet Yelp wine and beer tasting event there in Fairfax, VA about two years ago.Total Wine sold me at that event and I was able to get some of my favorite beers. I love the fact I could do a mix and match 6 pack of anything I wanted. Anyway, I wasn't feeling like Spec's on this particular day and wanted to see how Texas does Total Wine and more. Texas does it right. I was in awe and bewilderment as I toured the store. I ended up with of course more than I needed but no worries there. I will note I found something there called a pocket shot. A pocket shot is made of plastic and looks like a Capri Sun container. It would of have been great to take to ACL the other weekend. So if you want to sneak or smuggle booze in I recommend buying those pocket shots. read more

Wow I've been going here since 2016! And honestly, this is my go to. Every trip became better and better. The people who work here are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable. They've given me great recommendations and have rarely steered me wrong. But honestly, my favorites are Anne and Lisa. They have tastes that match very well with mine and they've recommended wines to me that are now staples. This is also a great place to pick up little knick-knacks. I've gotten some wine stoppers and champagne savers as well numerous pieces of glassware that I give as gifts or use on chill nights alone. As long as total wine is around it's 'spec's who' for me! But it turns out TW isn't infallible. My last trip I bought a few things and one was a pinot that was recommended by Lisa that I've bought on several occasions. After letting it chill for a little bit in my fridge, I popped that bad boy open and received a full glass of disappointment. It was oxidized. It tasted like someone had poured the glass, stuck it in the fridge overnight and now I was trying to drink it. It was undrinkable so I had to pour it out. But lets be honest, one bottle of bad wine in 7 years is a good ratio! Not too upset...it just means I can go back sooner and pick up a new (different) bottle and maybe a few other goodies! read more

You know at some point I thought Specs was going to rule the world and run every other liquor store out of business. That of course was before Total Wine. Total Wine has the best booze selection in Austin and great prices! I'm a huge fan of Mescal and the selection here is completely un-matched. They even carry a brand of Mezcalito, which is insanely hard to find outside of South America. The beer selection goes beyond amazing! It seems like they have every beer any distributor can possible get in Texas. The only downside to Total Wine is that if you ask anyone for help they recommend off label store brand crap. I would suggest not ever buying anything that is labeled with a "Spirits Direct" sticker. No matter what the employees say its not as good as the brand you came looking for.I think that as long as you know what you're looking for and go in and don't ask for help and just get what you want and need you should be fine. He was so helpful with picking out our first bottle I went and searched for him to help pick out the second bottle. A terrific store with (mostly) great selections and prices. I like that they have so many choices for wines and also a huge inventory of distilled spirits... plus quality beers, craft and imports. They've kept up with the mezcal boom, to my joy. And there's always excellent single-malt Scotch options. All I'd like to see more of is Greek wines (Kourtaki retsina, please!) and Portuguese madeira. I still have to go to Spec's for those. A tip of the hat to excellent and helpful staff. Popped into Total Wine today to get the provisions for the coming corona zombie apocalypse and was browsing the wine section when I was approached by a very young looking TW team member named Gracie. HOLY COW! Not only did this young woman have a deep deep knowledge of every varietal and suggestions on labels in a variety of price ranges- but she help me select a case of assorted wines, but wouldn't let me leave without one of her favorite bottles of Syrah. When I was checking out at the cashier, she asked "Gracie helped you, didn't she? She has an encyclopedic knowledge of wines and impeccable taste." All in all this place is great for wine etc. I also live nearby and the convenience is also awesome. But I had to contain my anger when a store employee offered my two very young children candy bars. The choice to allow for junk food at any time of day should be left to the parent - if you offer chocolate to my kids they will say yes. It is not cute, it is not funny, and i have a major problem with this. I wanted to get in and out quickly - not have to fight the argument of whether they can have junk food at 5:30 pm right before dinner time. I strive to make sure my kids gain healthy habits - we don't drink juices or have sugar; they can have it on special occasions but that's my choice to make. Not a random employee at a business. When there is a child obesity epidemic going on I feel it is irresponsible for businesses to bait children with junk. Give them crayons and a coloring sheet. Or stickers. Or nothing! They and the parents will survive better without the ensuing sugar mania that follows. read more

This place is HUGE! In the face of the scale of this place -- having customer service is super helpful and friendly is essential. My friend and I were a bit overwhelmed when we first walked in - but we were instantly greeted by a lovely woman who helped orient us and happily got information for us when we had questions. Was looking for a specific Japanese Whiskey, and they had it when the competition and local store didn't.

So a friend tells me, "Hey if you are bored and looking to get out the house for an hour or 2, Total Wine is a good place for that." Boy was he right on! This place is huge! Do not be fooled by the name - yes they have a lot of wine, but they also have a nice selection of everything else too. Some of the unique stuff, hard to get stuff and just different stuff too. Of course they will have your staples too and cheap options. When I stopped in here I was not in hurry so I took my time browsing around and ended up being here well over an hour. The only thing I planned on buying was whiskey and tequila, but I came out with more. I found some Gin I wanted and a nice Rose wine. They also have a room in the back where they host events. They do tastings and classes - see my pic I posted for more info on that. Anyway I couldn't be more please with Total Wine in my neighborhood. Such a step in the right direction. Warehouse like liquor stores seem to be all the rage. Total Wine had taken buying sprits, cigars and supplies to the next level of AWESOME. The isles are wide, the selection of spirits is impressive and clearly labeled and the number of cool gadgets is enough to keep you busy for a long time. I enjoy the upscale décor and the way the wine, beer and sprits are separated.
