Honestly, I had such a weird experience at this Total Wine & More. I was at one of the tasting stations trying a couple of different drinks and these two employees Charlie and Mike would NOT stop staring at us and walking by back and forth. I called my friend over from another aisle so she could hear about the drinks too, and it probably seemed like we were drinking the whole time, we even listen as the worker explained to other customers. I was totally offended when the worker says "This is the last drink, because I was told after this I can't pour no more" It was so obvious it was them because of the weird staring, so I went up to them, to let them know I was offended. I spend a lot at Total Wine, so getting singled out like that honestly offended me. I'm definitely not coming back to this location. The whole vibe was uncomfortable and unnecessary. read more

Total Wine management, the 1 star ratings are a wake up call. Way to many, mostly about your employees. My experience has been OK, over 3 states, many stores. If a sales person is too aggressive, I can handle them in a chat about bourbon or IPA. TW&L leadership, you need some serious improvement in HR employee training and recruiting ASAP. Very pushy to buy their winery and spirits direct. Too many managers and supervisors. We've heard from very reliable sources they treat staff very poorly and pay very little. Arrogant, snobby staff, especially Girvan who claims to be the best tequila salesman in the company and has a lying problem. I get happy when I walk into this place and also scared because I know how much I'm gonna spend. But it's worth it every time. This location was in Norwalk. We usually go to the one in milford. This place really has everything. The selection of wine, spirits and beer is out of this world. With such a tremendous variety of wine, the organization of the store is extremely important. There are substantial sections for varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, sparkling wines. There are also sections by region: France, Spain, Italy sub categorized into the particular wine growing regions of those countries. In all of the locations, the wines are [mostly] organized alphabetically. Despite the fact there are innumerable wines to find, they are reasonably straightforward to locate. Also important to note: many of the wines are additionally discounted if you buy six or more. You can mix and match so it's a great way to save money. They also have a comprehensive beer selection. Similar to the wines, they are organized by region. There is a huge variety of domestic craft beers and a solid choice of imports. There are also myriad 12 packs and cases if you want to buy in bulk. A wonderful feature they have is build your own six pack. This allows you to sample some of the more esoteric styles without having to plunk down money for a while six pack you might not enjoy. I do not usually buy spirits, but they have row upon row of vodkas, gins, whiskeys, rums, etc. Lastly but not insignificantly, their staff is exceedingly helpful. Not only can they help you locate particular products you are seeking, but they are very good at recommending fun new wines to try. Just moved to CT and excited there is a Total Wine close by. Liquor laws are rather old fashioned here, so having this resource close by is a treat. I'm all for supporting local small businesses, but the few stores I've come across seem a bit off mark. People here were helpful and there a more than enough choices at every price point. I love total wine. Always a great experience when I step through those doors. The prices are very competitive usually the lowest in the area and even sometimes the state vs. NY depending on what you're looking for. The staff is always friendly and inviting, the store is always clean and neatly organized. They have ample quantities of items available for all functions. (Home bar or big party/event) Tastings are now back as of last week. Do yourself a favor and ask for Steve, he was very cool, funny, friendly and super knowledge especially about whiskey. He's there usually Thursday Friday and Saturday now I believe. They are constantly out of stock on tons of things, and it takes a couple weeks or more to get something back in stock. It's infuriating. You try it, you like it, you go to order it again, and you're SOL for, usually, three weeks. SMH because other area stores DO have it in stock. So it's them and their poor inventory management. And.... They use DoorDash to make deliveries. They are the worst! Grab only half the order, bring the wrong order, don't have wi-fi calling enabled when they're doing deliveries in areas with little cell service. I have one network just for delivery people that require an ID and signature. One guy couldn't scan my license, I'd already put the delivery inside, wanted me to GET IN HIS CAR and drive to where there's service to scan my license, or he'd take the stuff back. I (obviously) said no, went inside, locked the door. He drove to the police station, told them I STOLE a case of wine. He brought the police back to my house, and HE ended up making such a fuss, he got arrested. I had DoorDash and total wine on the phone, and both told the cops I didn't steal anything. When they checked his phone, saw that he didn't have wi-fi calling enabled, this was all his fault, they told me to have a nice day. No one needs these hassles and embarrassment read more

Massive! Huge selection! I always see them offering tastings. The staff are always willing to help. Their suggestions are great. They can be a bit pushy sometimes, but if you tell them you know what you want, they don't press on. They have some limited edition options, as well. I absolutely LOVE this giant store! There is a huge selection of wine but there's a wonderful selection of liquor and craft beers. I also noticed that this store has super low prices compared to Bev Max. I bought a bottle of Captain Morgan's for $10 which seemed like a steal. The staff are always helpful and there seems to be a few of tastings throughout the store. Parking is great, you won't need to worry about finding a spot. You have people walking around doing nothing waiting to help people out in the store so why can't you have some of those people waiting at the registers to check people out. I avoid the store like the plague. It's a big store so I can understand the extra help in the beginning but 75% of your customers have been there a few times so you can reign it in a bit. The layout, the customer service, the tastings, the selection, the ease of ordering online and coming in to pick up... they have a great range of options and generally good prices. Certain wines are marked as "pick 6" by a yellow label, and you receive a discounted price for buying a total of 6. I first went to a Total Wine in California and I was in awe of this place, I googled to see if there was one in CT Unfortunately there wasn't.. But it looks like my prayers were answered! I came across Total Wine this week, and boy was I happy to see it! I asked the cashier when did they open because I never noticed them here in Norwalk before, and she said they opened in December! So its very new right now, but the inside is JUST like the ones Ive visited before. They have a great selection of everything, it can be something as simple as Marsala wine, to Imported beer, to Wine, to liquors, this place has it all! And not only does it have it all, it has a very helpful staff. Its very clean and very big, and the prices are very reasonable considering where they are. This is gonna be my go to place from now on. If you are looking for something specific, you will most likely find it in this store. There are staff members throughout the store who are more than happy to help you find what you need. It can be quite overwhelming if you aren't sure what you want, so it's a good idea to get help from one of many knowledgeable staff members. They will help you bring your purchases to your car if it's too heavy for you. Make sure you have your ID. Ah, the Target of wines and spirits. I'm lucky to live so close to Total Wine. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They also seem very happy to work there which is refreshing in any retailer these days. Not only is the selection and staff great, but they have affordable fun classes every once in a while in their beautiful back room. This place is so cool! Way more than just your average liquor or wine store. It must be as big as a grocery store! They have tons of aisles, tons of friendly workers, and really anything you can want or need for a party, date, just to stock up your house if that is what you are looking to do. My boyfriend and I come here to buy stuff usually for special occasions like a new years eve party or a picnic wine date. They have an amazing selection of anything you could want, wine, beer, rum, vodka, tequila, schnapps. They also have tons of mixers so you can feel like a bar tender at your own house. Prices are really good and they always try to give you the best price that they can. Total Wine is pure magic. Tastings at every turn, magnificent prices (especially for a ffld county liquor store), helpful staff, and a supremely decent craft beer selection. I even found my favorite cider, the Dupont Cidre Reserve, which has been tougher to find lately. I appreciate that Total Wine offers premium liquors in mid-sized bottles falling somewhere between nips and the usual 250ml. I've been able to bulk up my home bar a bit and play with some new libations in my mixology efforts without committing to a larger, more expensive bottle. I`m really scratching my head at the 4 1/2 star average rating for Total Wine. For those who are not aware, keep in mind this is a large chain store. With that being noted, their flaws are not entirely surprising. Lets go over some of these flaws: -Staff members who are uneducated on wines, spirits, and especially uneducated on beer at this location -They conduct tastings that focus on brands they have alliances with, spirits and wine made especially for them or simply X brand that puts out large volume production -Since opening, they have increased their prices on many items, some by percentages of 20-35%, now that at least one of their competitors has been forced to close -Rude staff members in the bottle return and cash register area most notably OK, with that out of the way, I`ll give them a couple positives for the 2 stars -Overall, prices are still better than most other stores in the area -A wide selection of wines and spirits is available here, including things like Calvados that can be difficult to find at some other stores. read more
