If you cannot find what you are looking for here, it probably does not exist! This is a massive store filled with almost every type of wine, liqueur, beer and more that is out there . I like that a sign explains each product and is displayed by region/state/country of origin. There are imported , domestic, and craft beers as well as wines and liquors from all over the world. They also have beer and wine tasting stations. Prices are reasonable and comparable. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Parking is plentiful. I would definitely recommend checking out this store. read more

Total Wine is Disney World for adults! A paradise for liquor, beer, and wine enthusiasts everywhere. The selection is massive, well organized, and I like how the labels on the shelves detail the background, origin, taste notes, and ratings of the wines and spirits. The interior is clean and inviting, and the knowledgeable and extensive staff have always been helpful and willing to assist. I usually come to buy scotch, Japanese whisky, sake, and soju, and I'm thrilled to see that their soju selection has been ever-increasing! While they may not stock every niche or under-the-radar treasure out there, they certainly offer a selection vast enough to please most palates. I honestly don't bother shopping at any other liquor store unless I'm looking for something incredibly rare to find in the area or I'm at an extreme distance from a Total Wine. read more

This place needs to go out of business!!!! I first order wine a day before my Pop's repass. The driver (DoorDash) claimed that they came and no answer. I have cameras all around my home with a door bell cam and when I reviewed no one came to my door. This also happened a couple of months ago but I gave them another shot thinking it was a one time thing. I then called and explained that the driver could not have come to a woman Rep who called herself Shawn who was very nasty, talked over me and said "do you want a refund or what?" I asked well how long does it take to refund because I needed funds to purchase the wine for the next day. She said "I don't know it could take 7-10 days") I was like "you don't know" wow I ask that they try to redelivered it She said she was putting for it to be delivered between 9 am-10am. Next day .. NO WINE ! I called and a nice rep did answer said that she was sorry but the store didn't open until 11am so Shawn never checked to see when the store could accommodate the deliver smh. So Krista the nice Rep said she would waive the delivery fee plus one bottle for free. I said ok and we rescheduled from 11-12...I asked her was there a way they could make sure the driver would not do that again. She said I would have to contact the store. I called the store and the lady was very nasty staying I had to call customer service. I told her Customer service told me to call yous at the store. She told me to hold on and hung up on me. I called back she saw my number and didn't answer so I called from my other line and I don't know if it was her or not but a Jennifer answer claiming to be the supervisor. I explained to her and asked if they could make sure that the driver delivered this time and she said " they are from DoorDash and they really can't tell them anything" WOW So Again when it didn't arrive by 12 it said "returned again due to customer not being home". I am a mom of 2 medically complexed children...I AM ALWAYS HOME! I called customer service asked to speak to a MANAGER not a supervisor I was clear on that. got told "they are all busy but someone will call you back" Supervisor Jeff I think his name was said he was new and that all he could do is cancel or have it sent back out. Also I see no one has waived the delivery fee I can do that for you". I said no cancel it!!! I visited Total Wine based on the fact that I saw that they had a sake I've been looking for in CT for literal years. The website said the aisle number and that it was on the right side. We couldn't find it so we asked an employee for help. He ended up looking the product up and they have never even had the sake in store, ever. So it was strange that the website said it. However, we were thankful for his help and friendliness. We ended up getting a bunch of craft beer. They had a great selection and we were able to get a bunch of beer that we've never heard of before. From cannoli to cotton candy all the way to Guinness chocolate and mint, we were happy with our choices and glad we stopped by. Came in for sake, came out with a ton of beer! They have a crazy big selection here. My husband and I will often go to beer, wine and liquor tastings. You know, the type of event (sometimes at the casino) where we sample something, snap a quick photo of it and chances are I'll never be able to ever find it again. This is the type of place that you can find that item you've been looking all over for at. They have in store samplings too here and you'll most likely make a sharp impulse buy and purchase it. While they didn't have the sake in stock that their website said was on the shelf, they do have a large selection of liquors and craft beers. We built our own six packs with many beers I had never seen before and happily went on our way. I came in today to select a white wine from Spain. I decided to try something entirely new as I am attending a virtual wine tasting trivia happy hour with a few friends and I want to up my game. Not sure if this is considered cheating but I do know that it's educational! So I selected Spain. My knowledge of Spanish wines is limited so normally when I think of Spain I think reds such as Riojo. My thinking is correct because the row of Spanish wines included about six or so types of white wines and the rest were reds. I was assisted by Wesley who suggested that I try an Albarino wine. There were a couple to select from and he informed me that his favorite is the Val Do Sosego Albarino. After a little discussion I decided to give it a try. The price isn't too much at $17 a bottle. The following words are used to describe it: Crisp, citrus, mineral, medium bodied. Heck I am sure a wine with these qualities has to be good. Wesley offered another tip and pointed out a bottle of El Prado Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon. Wesley suggested that if I liked sangria that it is a great buy at $8 a bottle. I am taking that tip on advice for another day. Today I will focus on the Albarino. The one thing that I like about this store is that the staff is friendly and helpful and the store is large so their inventory is too. They train their staff well. read more

I came for this store's first spirits class, Whiskey Business. For the price of $5 per person, it's a steal. We got to try 8 different types of whiskey plus 2 bonus pours at the end. We learned a bit, but it's definitely at the 101 level. Continuing this thought, I found the instructor not very knowledgeable. In fact, people in the audience were able to answer questions instead of the instructor, who mostly stuck to reading info from the slides. If you have no to little knowledge about whiskey, this was the right level class. Total Wine did include some snacks, which is a nice touch. You should definitely bring your own snacks, though. It's easy to get buzzed. As a store, Total excels in classic selection and has average prices, maybe a little cheaper than a mom and pop. If you are into beer or whiskey and really know your stuff, I wouldn't say there's anything mind blowing in terms of selection, though. read more

I like this place. The staff is always helpful and available for advice which is usually very good. They do not pressure you either. Pretty good selection of wine from around the world at varying price ranges. They can offer wines below the CT state minimum if they have a direct relationship with the winery and you buy at least six bottles of these wines. They don't need to be the same wines, just particular ones. You save 10%. I am unaware of any other store in CT that can price below the state mandated price (reason #127 to move out of CT). What I like best is their wine tasting events. Check their website for upcoming events. For $5, you get to sample 7 or 8 wines from a particular region, get a bit of an education and can enjoy some nice munchies (crackers, cheese, various cured meats, etc). I believe you need to register in advance. I just left a wine and cheese pairing event. They have wine and beer tasting stations in the store on a regular basis too. I buy mostly wine, rum and occasionally bourbon. Pretty good selection and advice on the distilled spirits too. Sign up for their rewards club too if you think you'll be a regular. read more

This place is pretty awesome. I haven't been to a total wine and more store but I needed to pick up some alcohol before meeting up with a friend. My sisters boyfriend recommended this time me as I was taking the ferry that day and this isn't too far from there. I love that they have long hours as most places don't open up around me till 10/11am. They have plenty of parking and shopping carts to carry anything you might need. My boyfriend was also a fan of the fact that they offered cigars to purchase as well. We ended buying a bunch of different stuff which was perfect since we didn't need to make all these different stops. They had a sparkling pineapple wine in a can which I wish I bought more of cause my friends and I loved it! I've never seen it any where else so i'll have to do some research. If I'm ever in ct again I'll be sure to make a stop here! read more

I have been concerned about going into stores because of COVID-19 and Total wine is made it very easy to shop online. I placed an order and it was ready for pick up in and hour. I pulled into the parking lot into a space marked for curbside pick-up, sent a quick text to the store, and out came a beautiful smiling young woman who placed my order in my trunk! I really wanted to not like this place. I wanted to be furious because its very existence put places like Loading Dock out of business, but damn if they have not impressed me. Yes, it is a huge store and can be overwhelming, but I have been very surprised by the staff's ability to nudge me in the right direction without hovering and being push-y on sales. They have FREE wine and beer tastings on Fridays, and I have found great, reasonable bottles of wines for parties using the tastings. For prices, I think if you're looking for something specific, unless they are having a special sale, it's going to be comparative. But if you're walking in looking for a $5 bottle of Rose to bring to an event, you can find one that will be pretty decent, which I think puts them a leg up on some of the smaller liquor stores in the area. I'm giving this place a 5 star review because they went above and beyond for me and I am impressed with their business. My friend took me here for the first time a couple months ago and I could spend hours in here! It was huge, gorgeous, and I loved that they did tastings of different types of alcohol (while I have yet to take part in one, I hope to someday!). I'm in charge of favors for a bridal shower and we decided to do champagne bottles. I went to a local liquor store and came home with 1 choice because all the others were too expensive when I needed to buy 45 bottles. I wanted more selection so I came here, was able to leave with 5 additional choices, as well as priced out all their totals. This was in early February. Fast forward to late February and we decide on our choice of champagne. For 45 bottles I was quoted $110. I go to order it and I am quoted $150 (it was a different person). They agreed to order it without charging me the price until I picked it up. I picked it up a week later and the guy I originally spoke with was there and was able to give it to me for the $110 since that was the price I was quoted. Apparently champagne is cheaper in February than in March (didn't know this, I don't usually purchase champagne). Basically they didn't lose money on my sale, but they didn't make money either. I appreciate that they kept their word and stuck with the original price quoted than trying to fight with me and go for the $150 price. read more

We were professionally assisted in planning the variety and amount of the alcohol we needed for the event. Kelley did not push anything on us and was more than happy to sample any of the wines we requested. We were never rushed as she was willing to spend as much time as we needed in planning for our big event. I was a fan at first. But I've had two.. (yes two) customer service issues here. The staff is downright rude and I will not come back. First issue: I saw a bottle of wine for a dollar more than I had just paid at a competitor. I went to the service desk to ask if they will price match. "Sure" they said. I used my smart phone to locate the lower price on the competitor's website. When I went to check out, a manager was called over. This terrible manager--rude as can be--said she could not use the website price as being accurate. She said I would A. Have to have a paper flyer, and B. After I present her with the paper flyer she would have to DRIVE to the store and see for herself the lower price. Seriously? I contacted the main office and got a phone call saying that the employee was wrong and out of line. IF THE MANAGER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. I can't believe I went back after this but I did. Second and Final issue: I had my cart full of wine in one lane ready to check out. The clerk at the next lane just opened and gestured for me to bring my cart to her. The cart was heavy and I was jogging it to her register. I was just about to take the wine out of the cart when she said (with lots of smarmy attitude) "Um, you have to take the wine out of the cart". Well of course, I know this. I'm not stupid. So I started to take the wine out. I happened to have placed the bottles in a line (or so she thought) and she said (again with attitude), "Sir, please don't line the bottles up like that!" I DO NOT NEED INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HOW TO CHECK OUT. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN HAVE SOME RESPECT. Goodby Total. I love they have a dry rose section (yes I am basic at times lol ;) They have AWESOME tasting classes in their back classroom for $5!!! Check out their schedule of events.! Some random guy walked in with me and my two friends and we didn't know him and the guy who worked there who is named Dan refused to sell to us because the guy who walked in with us had left without showing ID. Even though me and both my friends are all over the age of 21! We were furious. Dan also treated us very poorly as if we weren't good enough to shop there. This store has gone from Great to Garbage in the past year, 5 examples: * Check Beer Dates: check brew or enjoy-by dates on every beer you pick up. They still have Po Tweet Sour on the shelf that was brewed on 8/30/2020. Asked 3 diff people over time to get this off the shelf...they pretend to start removing it. Next time I go in - it's still there. Note to Mgr: I've let Hermit Thrush know you've got their year-old beer on the shelf. * Empties Nightmare: They put in empties machines...that don't work. Staff member vents to me "these machines are slap in the face for the staff as they won't take most IPA kinger cans." WRONG! They're a slap in the face for your customers. Then tells me to go thru my 64 empties one at a time, and then set aside and recount the ones it won't take to get a slip for them - wtf. * Empties Credits: About half the time I hand over an empties credit receipt, the cashier will coincidentally (uh-huh) forget to enter the credits - you have to verbally remind them. * They Don't Care: Filled out the survey on their national site, and requested a call back or email about some of these recent/horrible experiences. Never heard back. * Bully Ball: They opened across the street from a perfectly good, huge, package store in Milford - specifically to put them outta business and eliminate the competition. This store has a fine selection, but their customer service is questionable. Especially in the wine department. A couple weeks ago, I went in looking to purchase a 4-5 bottles of expensive wine, ($100.ish). The "Wine Manager" was dismissive of my questions, and appeared bothered by me inquiries. Definitely an unfriendly attitude. I went to another local store and made my purchase. Today I went in, looking to purchase a case of wine, maybe more, for a party. The wine tasting station had several wines that were interesting, and at the price, ($10.-$15.), that fit my budget. The woman at the tasting was on her mobile phone when I approached. She never acknowledged me, and continued to talk on her phone, (apparently a family matter), while I looked at every wine on the table, and read every label. Silly me, I thought she might actually let me try the wines. After five minutes, I gave up and left the store. I bought my case and a half of wine at a store that actually believes in customer service. Not likely that I ever return to this store. read more

I ordered wine for delivery today between 4 and 5pm. It's 9pm and it still isn't here! I called the Milford store & the first person I talked to was so confused, she had to get someone else. That person explained that Door Dash never showed up & there was nothing they could do. At least she offered a refund which I accepted. I then called TotalWine Customer Service (the website customer service number). Steve told me I ordered wrong & delivery is tomorrow. I told him I did not order wrong & the order status on my order says "Out for Delivery". He insisted I was wrong & their website is wrong too! That is some bad customer service. A good customer service person would apologize, not continue to insist the customer is wrong & the website too! He would apologize profusely & ask if it's ok to deliver tomorrow & then waive the delivery fee. This idiot cost my business which was substantial. If you order here, do so at your own risk.
