I had reached out via email to inquire about their late policy due to our work schedules (I wanted to try to schedule the Valentine's Day booking but felt like it would be too late). Magdalena, one of the owners, had got back to me and responded that they were flexible and recommended the booking for the day after if it would better accommodate our schedules and that the Valentine's Day snack would be available to purchase, which was very reassuring for me. Upon our arrival, not only did they remember me from our one email communication, they had already set aside the Valentine's Day snacks for us. Very thoughtful! The wine selections were either for red or white for blending and cause my fiancée and I wanted to try the best of both worlds (we both had selected white initially), they were able to accommodate the change with no hesitation. Our instructor, Dave, was amazing and the guided class was full of fun information and neat anecdotes. The guided class was very helpful in identifying things to look for in wine which can contribute to certain attributes, like taste, sweetness and such. Very light-hearted and, again, an amazing experience. Highly recommend for a date night or those who just want to learn more about wine. Oh and they also let you cork your own bottle!

Château Pétrus & Friends Bordeaux Dinner w/ Christophe Émé | Friday, March 17th at 6:45pm OVER…read more$15,000 WORTH OF WINE by Ian Blackburn, Sommelier, Wine Entrepreneur, Wine Educator.  Well noted Chef Christophe Émé né Guide Michelin Étoile Restaurant Ortolan, Kass, Chef de Cuisine of legendary L'Orangerie prepared an impeccable, sumputous 6 course Menu Dégustation using Truffe Noire, Sevruga Caviar, etc. that was fit for royalty paired with extremely well known ultra premium Bordeaux wines.  What made for a very unusual pairing is not just having one wine but two of the same wine from the same vigneron but of two different years for a mini Vertical Wine Tasting that was so educational in being able to contrast and compare.   For me, having the privilege to dine many times on Chef Émé's rarified Nouvelle Cuisine Française is a sensory delight along with Ian Blackburn's selection of superlative wines. It reminds me of the heydays when Patina rocked with warm hospitality by Kevin & his kind staff, exquisite cuisine, paired wines by the incomparable  Silvestre Fernandes. I'm the wine snob and all my other friends simply enjoy good company but don't take wine too seriously (but the sure know what good wine taste like!). So mixed crowd and I have to say impressed with Murphy's personable, knowledgeable approach that is catered to my diverse group. She was very welcoming and made everyone comfortable including my 2-year old daughter! :) Distilled her knowledge so it wasn't intimidating or got too much into the weeds given the crowd but when I wanted to geek out with her she definitely can and taught me a lot of new things! My group came away impressed and delighted by the experience!

The ambiance was really nice (dim lights, beautiful paintings around) and overall had a very welcoming and comfortable feeling while still feeling upscale. By design, there were only 7 people in attendance at the tasting to promote a more intimate experience; which really added to the overall experience. I learned a lot about not only the actual wine we were tasting, but also about food pairings and good general wine tips. I really loved how the tasting/class was very interactive and conversational (yet structured) versus being talked at (or not talked to at all), as I have at other tastings. Overall, the tasting was a very thought out and well planned experience that I really enjoyed and really recommend! I went with some friends (and made new ones!), but would definitely come again as an outing for a date or would make a perfect girls night out! The wines and charcuterie presented were really good and varied a lot. I even found 2 new wines that I love! Chris' wine pairings and explanations complemented the insanely delicious food perfectly, and were educational yet unpretentious. They graciously accommodated all dietary restrictions and served a beautiful 5 course meal (with gorgeous wine pairings, of course). Having an intimate dinner with strangers was also a delight! We cheers'ed, laughed, bonded, ate and drank to our hearts' content and had a total blast. Looking forward to another special evening with Home Somm in the near future! I entertain a lot, but really enjoy most of my wine with meals. 1855 finds the best 'everyday' table wines that are super inexpensive and super good! But when I need something special, Aaron always delivers an incredible wine. I've ordered everything from Meomi to Dom. 1855 gets it for me cheaper than I'd typically pay and I get it delivered to my door! The lead consultant, Aaron began my membership with doing an inventory of my existing wine cellar (less than 5 cases) and marking the ones ready to drink now, those that should lay down, and those that absolutely need time. He helped set up my storage so all bottles are kept in the best condition and will drink at their best when I open them. I'm looking forward to my next project with 1855 - helping me buy and arrange specialized wine glassware for my home. I also hear they do great events, and I'm looking for the right opportunity to have them enhance one of my open houses or brokers opens. Great service model and incredible wine! The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Street parking or structure in downtown culver is available. You can try the local neighborhoods for free parking, just don't park by my place! lol
