Total Wine is essentially a liquor warehouse, with a large selection of both mainstream and lesser known, more unique alcoholic (and some non-alcoholic) products. Their prices are generally competitive, augmented by further promotional discounts via the store app, points earned thru their loyalty program, and special prices in-store on the end cap displays. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. Their inventory is decently well-organized into various categories (e.g., all wines in the same area and grouped by type and/or region, vodkas together, craft beers together, etc). If I go in wanting some bourbon without a particular brand in mind, this is very helpful. Where I occasionally run into trouble is when I go in looking for a particular brand. I can usually find the category well enough, but spend many minutes trying to find the brand I came in for. Overall, though...I recommend for the vast selection, pricing and helpful staff. read more

I feel like almost everybody that works here needs to go back to customer service classes. They're so rude and customer service does not exist in the store... 0 out of 10 I do not recommend. What the ACUTELY F*** My 19 year old daughter went in to buy glasses.... Keep in mind GLASSES!!!! For her mom on Christmas and this old lady... ( glasses, multiple color hair terrible person) said she couldn't buy GLASSES...... key in mind GLASSES....... From this establishment. You sell freaking candles, bottle openers, and snacks. But a kid trying to buy something legally for her mom at an establishment and gets denied by an old crusty turd. That's bull****. I visited my daughter all the way from Hawaii and ask to take me find cigars. So we ended up at total wine and I'm expecting a good array of cigars. Which I did fine a good assortment from high end to low end and I was pleased, but to my surprise I found that about half of the inventory had MOLD issues. On the wrapper and some mold creped on to the leaves of the cigars. I was very sad to see so much inventory and $$$$ gone to waste!! I expected better care from this establishment. I would die to have a walk-in humidor and that kind of array of assortment and large inventory I would be taking extra care of these fine goods. I felt very bad to see thousands of dollars go to waste !! I hope on my next visit to Illinois in November that things will be better kept. read more

Worst customer service. One of our friends forgot their IDs, they weren't even paying and the workers got a power trip. Then another friend asked to just guy some red cups and snacks and the workers were again being rude. Wouldn't let us buy red cups or snacks. This place needs less rude workers. Unbelievably rude. We came in to buy CLUB SODA and had my little brother with me and they refused service because he didn't have an ID on him. FOR CLUB SODA. Also, why didn't the manager say anything to us before hand when he walked us to where the club soda was at that we weren't going to be able to check out with my little brother with us. No explanation. Just said "those are the rules. " and then we said if he goes to the car could we check out? And we're told no. Absolutely ridiculous. Left here incredibly frustrated and disappointed. Drove about 30 minutes JUST to purchase 2 cases of wine and was denied that purchase because my 19 year old sister was with me. She's a legal adult - yes I understand not of drinking age. I am 29 years old and they told me they couldn't sell to me for 24 hours. There NEEDS to be a sign on the door stating this rule. Curious to know if this is a store rule or the law because I've had no problems purchasing elsewhere. My husband and I went to buy a bottle of wine to celebrate an accomplishment. we were told to leave the store by the manager, no explanation or anything. Not to mention, I saw bugs crawling on their floors & walls. They may seem put together, but in reality they are not. You will find better customer service at Mcdonald's compared to this store. My boyfriend and I have found some amazing and unique picks because of him. For beer try Becca, she was super helpful in getting me not only fruity beers but flavored stouts.
