I had to run a few errands but was unable to purchase my product did. So I did a pickup order and came back. To say they were quick, prompt and efficient is an understatement. I blinked and my order was ready. I ordered some brut wine and had a large order of cigars. All items were packaged in away that nothing would be damaged. All items were in stock. Multiple locations and a great place to stock up for Christmas. For Christmas, my wife and I like to give the gift of wine to our Friends and those who have been most helpful over the past year. In particular, she likes to give out Biltmore Estate Christmas Wine from Asheville. This year was no exception although we were not able to buy a full case at one time. Ended up making three trips to get a full case but not a big issue. There are multiple locations for this chain but I did not have to visit more than one. The location is in Birkdale Village and we are either there or in the general vicinity once or twice a week. To save extra trips, just call ahead and make sure they have what you are looking for and if they do, drop in and pick up what you need. Beyond that, they have an outstanding selection of other wines from all over the world as well as a selection of beers and ales. There selections are outstanding and they will help you load it in your car. read more

Terrible customer service tonight by a cashier named "Kim." She was so rude about seeing our IDs for non-alcoholic beer. Then when my husband questioned why she is checking ID's she replied "Your being really rude" when we never been ID there before. It was just a question. We come to the store a lot and it's a shame to be talked to like this. She made me very uncomfortable buying non alcoholic beer (since I'm pregnant.) We never had an experience like this here before and shop here often. Kim the cashier needs to be working on customer service because telling customers they are rude for asking a question is very unprofessional and uncalled for. read more

Can you have New Year's Eve without alcohol of some sort? I was directed to TW by my wife and my daughter to pick up the right sort of booze. They even sent me pictures of what they wanted! This is a smaller shop compared to other Total Wine outlets but wow, do they manage to pack it in and keep it organized. I was able to find the red blend one wanted and the non-alcoholic bubbles the other wanted and then I picked up a bottle of Portuguese white for me. Very knowledgeable staff. Peter was very helpful in the wine area and lead us to a red blend called Torial which he let us taste before buying and some tried and true Russian River Chardonnay. They also have an extensive craft beer selection with people to guide you. I wish they hadn't been quite so helpful in some ways because we bought more than we should have! We have been going to this location for over 7 years. They are the most convenient store to get a keg refilled. Therefore they market cornered. This store is absolutely abhorrent. I don't like to give 1 star reviews but after YEARS of horrible experience I must. As regular customers we have been told repeatedly that they will not assist you in loading anything into your car. There is ZERO customer service. After posting my pictures.....they STILL have not changed their pricing notices in their keg freezer. This store is LAZY and feels entitled by being in "BIRKDALE VILLAGE" Yesterday they told us that they increased their keg deposit from $30 to $50. That is fine..okay new regulations for people who are home brewing. However...when signing our transportation paperwork our cashier would not sign our carbon copy paperwork (which you need for returns btw). He said "oh I will get to it later." NO. I had to wait and stay in the line until I physically saw him do it. I had to wait and MAKE SURE he signed it. This store is the worst. Horrible. Will I go back? Yes because of their convenience. Great customer service I visit Total Wine when in Huntersville area to get Italian for my son as they have the best selection. Last time I zoomed in wanting inexpensive deck wine $10 or less for my husband to slosh down. An associate helped load my cart with several different selections that were all good. Several higher prices wines that happened to be on sale that I would buy again. I would have been wandering for hours and this was accomplished in minutes. Yeah! Damn do I love Total Wine! And this one is dangerously close to home. I say that because I can take a good walk down here, indulge myself and stumble back home without ever needing to get behind the wheel. Safe, yes! But dangerous because I am in fact a beer-cap collector. I'm gathering up unique singles of caps to one day cover a desk top with them. Total Wine has been the place to go for these grabs. Every time I visit I leave with a self-assembled six-pack of never-before-seen caps on never-before-seen brewskis. Prices range from unbelievably good to predictably steep. Yes, they do carry wine and such as the name suggests. I drink both wine and beer but have a preference for their beer selection. Others tout the wine choices so I imagine it's good in that department. There are other unique items like tea-mixed sake brews or canned red wines (believe it I saw one!). They have lots of good choices for straight-up Japanese sakes too. Most of all I'm just happy to find a beer I've never tried which I can grab one bottle of for a taste at just $1.50. Prost! Kampai! Making your choice may be very difficult here. If you like to try new wines or find that sleeper hit, then try their buyers choice selection. I've had 4-5 different bottles from their selection and it is great. So , just buy what they tell you to and you'll be in good shape. There is a hidden gem in this store. They sell CIGARS here. I love that Total Wine has so much to offer! Last year I could not find Lagunita's Hop Stoopid IPA beer anywhere in Boca Raton. Total Wine had it. This year I wanted a small tequila gift to send to my brother-in-law. The only place I could find this was at Total Wine---a triple tequila sampler kit. Total Wine can be a total haven for wine lovers! I only go here for one thing, because they're the only store, period, that sells this: Francis Ford Coppola Winery Sofia Mini Blanc de Blancs 4-Pack. Total Wine is a great place for wine newbies like myself in the event we need to make an educated purchase. The store is huge, clean...and dangerous to anyone who is clumsy or isn't sure of their footing. There is wine floor to nearly ceiling, and lots of it! Each store carries 8,000 types of wine from all of the world's wine-producing regions. I wandered in here one evening to purchase a bottle of wine for the birthday of a girl I was seeing, who also happened to be a big wine aficionado. I'm sure I looked a little lost, because I was offered help numerous times before finally accepting that I had no idea what I was looking for. I got a crash course on the different regions and types they produced, and wound up with a very nice riesling that even I enjoyed. Fortunately, I am no longer seeing that girl, but if I needed to immerse myself in the world of wine again, I would not hesitate to visit the fine folks at Total Wine. read more

This Total Wine in Birkdale is much like many others, albeit in a relatively smaller space than some, with a wide selection of regional and national distributed craft beers. I am regularly impressed with how they feature seasonal specialties in the plethora of pumpkin beers are on full display here in August. This particular location has become a standby when visiting Charlotte to grab something on sale. They are regular prices are perfectly reasonable but I always appreciate finding a good deal on some inventory they are cycling out. Today I took home a four pack of Dogfish Head Aprihop ($6.99), a six pack cans of Anchor Steam Summer Wheat ($7.99) and an eight pack cans Guinness "amazing ales" variety pack ($7.99). These beers are obviously not at peak freshness, but still were worth picking up; anytime I can find craft beer for under $10 per 4/6 pack, I go home happy. While I rarely purchase a bottle of wine here, the selection is clearly extensive. I was pleased to see a number of taps for beer growler fills and they have a nice IL a single bottles to create your own mix pack. Plenty of employees around to help with questions and a handful of large door coolers that feature there high-volume products. When heading back home to Virginia, this is an easy stop to find a deal before leaving the Charlotte metro area. read more

The store manager at this location is so very rude. I witnessed her and a woman customer yesterday gang up on this girl who I guess worked for a delivery company. The woman was upset that this girl didn't want to wait at her house for an unknown amount of time when I guess she had already been there. Now I do delivery service for Doordash, so I kinda understand how it works, and if a person isn't there you are required to bring it back to the store. So it looked like she was just doing her job, yet this woman was increasingly getting upset with her for just trying to do her job. The manager tried to kick her out and the whole thing was a mess and and the girl was in full blown tears and shaking by the end of this. I will never ever be coming back to this location ever again due to what I saw yesterday and the store manager should be ashamed. read more

This place has a large variety of beer and wine at better than average prices. The staff seeks to be helpful but there is inadequate staffing. Buying by the case is awkward because you have to find a staffer to retrieve the case and put it in your shopping cart which are not designed to easily get cases into or especially out of. Then you have to navigate the crowded aisles and make your way to your car which probably isn't parked in front of the store where there are seldom any spots. A place reserved for loading would be nice as would somebody from the store to bring it curbside. But then again, they are understaffed. read more

A wine lover's paradise!!! I just love this place! Every once in a while, you can get Ecco Domani at BJ's and MezzaCorona at Sam's for cheaper, but all in all, their prices are the lowest around. The do wine and beer tastings, but I'm pretty set in my ways and stick to my Pinot Grigio. They will recommend wines and help you with selecting one if you are a noob. They have a large selection of local and regional craft beers at great prices. Sometimes Harris Teeter will be lower, but their selection is smaller. Be sure to sign up for their coupon emails. My only complaint is that they are too far away. They are building one in the old HH Gregg building near Concord Mills. read more

They have the best prices....$26 for jordan chardonnay and its $22 at cost/wholesale. They also carry abita andygator and purple haze beer. Pour half of each and youre drinking a 'purple gator' a popular new orleans beverage. Andygator has a very high alcohol content so cutting it with the slightly sweeter purple haze makes it just right. Ill def be a regular customer if I move closer. read more

Nice selection of wines although I only seem to find about 20% of the ones I bookmark in my Corkz wine app. My two biggest beefs are the NARROW aisles and the people working there who are way too up your butt with offers to help. If you are there more than 10 minutes you can expect at least 7 offers. Now, first off, I get it that it's GOOD to help but when you tell the same couple of them multiple times that, "I'm good", it gets annoying. I am a fan of total wine, but this particular one is cluttered. I must have caught them on a truck day. Most of the aisles had merchandise and carts blocking the ends and I had to go around them. I've been going to the TW in Birkdale Village (Huntersville NC) for a couple of years. The customer service has steadily decreased to the point that it feels uncomfortable and toxic in the store, and I'm a Grand Reserve status...doesn't matter! Just got back tonight and the cashier didn't say hello, thank you or good night...just had a "I can't wait to get outta here look on his face". During another visit after the new year, my wife went in and asked if they had any of the Santa Clausthaler Holiday Brew NA left over. The manager turned to her and shouted "Christmas is Over!". So...we've been getting that holiday beer at Whole Foods where they continue to sell their stockpile as they should. Overall, this store has become a dread to enter, to the point where I'll drive several miles further to another and different store (grocery). I'm NOT one to complain but I have no choice when it occurs over and over again. I'm thinking of boycotting TW forever due to this obvious accepted management style in a workplace. read more

If you are looking for beer in a can/bottle or even a keg that is in stock, this is your place. If you special order something, GOOD LUCK! I have easily bought 20+ kegs from them and every "special order" keg has been an aggravating experience. I never get called when it arrives and when it is there, it never has my name on it, so its pure luck somebody didn't take it out from under me. Last keg they "lost" but magically found it as I was dialing 201Central's phone number. I really wish they could get their act together, I drive by them every day. read more
