I was greeted at the front by a friendly lady who guided me to what I was looking for. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.

On my way after a Yelp pick Up at Cosmic Juice across the street, I saw Southland Hardware and we decided to drop by. It was like going to the candy store for my husband. He was enthralled with all of the knick knacks that he was in one aisle for a long time while I chased around my three year old who was equally entertained by all of the parts such a store can have. They sold everything from small appliances to gardening items and anything you might need to help your home. I didn't know what anything was except for the snacks and they had a good and unique variety of those. Everyone was helpful and super chill. I appreciate the chill these days a lot more than I used to. What a great neighborhood find and yes things might seem a little bit more than say Amazon or another big box store but putting money into a community store helps save your community in the long run. You help the people who live there and put back into the place you live.

The owner, Susan, is exceptionally helpful, having been a furniture restorer for most of her life. Granted, some of the prices can be a little steep; this is especially true of the used, original pieces as these are now relics of another era; the replicas can be substantially cheaper and look just about the same.

Reinel was the person who came highly recommended by others and he did not disappoint. Texts and emails were always met with quick replies. It wasn't long before he came over to do a quick peak and was able to provide a realistic overview of what needed to be done. He was patient and was able to provide a nice array of carpet samples, while answering all the questions. He was able to arrange a carpet installation with memory foam for several rooms on additional levels while handling the dated hardwood floors on the lower level. It was a nearly 7k job after it was said and done and his team was in and out of the place within 48 hours. The end result is impressive. My guests appreciate the bounciness of the carpet and the repaired hardwood floors. Payment was done via a cash transfer and Reinel seemed to be flexible with the payment options. While it feels like a premium job for obvious reasons, I value quality service and execution, which is what I ultimately got by hiring Floor Coverings International.

If one is picking up an order, you can pick it up here or the showroom as opposed to having the order delivered. It isn't very glamorous inside, but it isn't supposed to be--it is a warehouse. The staff here is easy to work with. On the plumbing side, Larry is very knowledgeable of all the various components and is quite friendly. Mike is also easy to work with and is helpful. On the hardware side, Shelly is an absolute guru. She seems to know every detail of every piece of hardware down to miscellaneous screws. She is also extremely meticulous in compiling the trim hardware orders. Over decades of business here, I have yet to have even a single screw missing from my orders. They consistently provide quality service and if any issues occur, they work hard and quickly to remedy the situation. They have earned my repeat business time and again over the years through the high level of personal service that larger suppliers in town are simply unable to provide.
