When it didn't come I thought it, "It's Friday, I am sure I'll hear from him Monday." Monday and Tuesday come and go and still no quote. I called several times and left messages and no still response. It has been 3 weeks and I have heard nothing.... Very disappointing. He knew I found him on Yelp. I hope he reads this.

So I needed the following things done…read more 1- Remove old alarm company control box from the 90's that had wires sticking out of the wall 2- Remove a ceiling fan and replace it with a lamp, so my son could use his bunk bed without peril 3- Update cables for Direct TV box -I had already made an appointment with another electrician for these, BUT they were backed up with other appointments for 2 weeks! And it was going to cost $200 per outlet, regardless of how easy or hard the work was, i.e shimmying through the crawlspace under the house and creating a new outlet, or just climbing into the attic and dropping cables down into existing outlets replacing the current cable. $200 per outlet (we had 2-5 TV's that possibly needed updated cable) and we'd also have to wait 2 weeks! I really was not looking forward to waiting 2 weeks for #s 2 and 3, so I made the appointment with this apparently very pricey and busy electrician we had used once before, but then I also called Rock's Electric because a friend had suggested them, just to see if I could get something done earlier, and if they charged less. Rock's Electric was great! They charged hourly, rather than per item, which seems more logical right? I kept following the poor guy around trying to ask what they charged per outlet and he must have thought I was crazy. He just charged by the hour I believe. That's what the cost came to at least. He used some cable, so maybe there was a charge for however much that was, but it couldn't have been much. And he could have said that we needed new cable on all 5 TVs, because it's not as if I know anything about it, but he didn't. He said the pictures were great on all of the TVs except t 2, so there was no need to fix the others. And the 2 outlets that Mike did update the wiring on, were bedrooms that were next to each other, so it took no extra time at all. The other company would have charged at least $400 just for replacing the cable in the outlets for the 2 rooms combined, Rock's Electric charged me much less than $400 that for the entire service call, which included more than just updating the wiring in the 2 rooms. Mike said he already had to access the attic for the 1 room that we had to have cable replaced in, because the tv was getting no service, so he said it was no trouble to simply drop another cable into the next room over. And, before he left, I wanted to let him know that I had received a referral to use them by a friend. If I had my own biz, I know I'd be flattered that people are happy with my business and would just be so happy to know about it. So he knocked off 10% because I had received their name from a friend! Which I absolutely was not expecting! Anyways, my point is I was very happy with how professional Mike was and the cost for service. My son can also be a little bit of a pest and gets excited when anyone comes to the house. So my 3 year old very outgoing child kept sneaking into whatever room Mike was in to show him his favorite Transformers or finding any excuse to talk to him. He was really nice about it and just humored him. I like people who are nice to my kids :) There are a few more things that I would like done here and I will use them again in a heartbeat.

Ceiling and walls painted. Also removed an in wall a/c in a bedroom and repaired wall and siding. Everything went very well. The crew showed up on time and got to work. They discovered a couple issues once things were torn out; these were addressed at minimal additional cost. The family room looks great and the repaired wall in the bedroom looks like there was never anything there, inside and out. We're very happy with the work and won't hesitate to call Brian again.

Is completed in the same day but was discovered afterwards that the surround was was installed wrong so had to be reordered and first one had to be torn out and reorder installed at his expense. New bath faucet internals also had to be replaced (at owners expense) because when soldering in place he got the fixture to hot and ruined the parts so faucet leaked from day one. Also a few years later when installing new siding discovered instead of ordering correct window the window that was installed was a "replacement" window meant to go in an old window frame but was installed in a wood frame opening with a horrible caulk and trim job on the outside which allowed the window drain holes to leak water into the wall of the house for years. The wall had to be torn apart and rebuilt from the water and subsequent insect damage. Worst contractor I have ever dealt with.

As a new resident in Syracuse, I received a welcome letter from Patruno Electric offering to assist…read morewith any electrical needs in my new home. After meeting with a representative from Patruno, I received two proposals: (1) to complete rudimentary work in the kitchen and bath, and (2) to install an eight-and-a-half foot under cabinet length of lighting above my countertop. The total for the two proposals was $2,350. I was expecting something in the $1,600-$1,800 range. There was no breakdown of costs (parts, labor, and estimated times to complete the work). I estimated four hours for this job which works out to $587.50 per hour based on the proposal totals. That's a lot. The average hourly rate for an electrician in Syracuse, NY, is approximately $31.90. This figure is based on data from job postings and salary information collected by Indeed. The average pay range can vary, with some sources listing a range from $21.95 to $46.35 per hour. Note: I also bought the fixtures and electrical parts for a portion of the project, so the first proposal's pricing should have been reduced. When I called to negotiate a better price on the proposal totals, Dave said they were very busy, went silent on negotiation, and recommended that I work with another company. He said, "I'm not trying to blow you off, but..." (When anybody says, "I'm not trying to blow you off," that's EXACTLY what they're doing.) Then, he gave me the names of three other electricians. I called all three of his suggested contacts. One came in at $3,500, the second never called back, and the third came in at $1,917 for the exact same things I asked Patruno to do. I selected the third electrician who was incredibly helpful, made great suggestions for my home, and booked the work to be done within a week. It was $117 over my budget, but I'm happy with the service I received. In conclusion, I have discovered that, in general, too many tradesmen "make up" inflated project totals without justification of their work. I understand overhead and profit margins, but to gouge customers who they assume don't understand about fair pricing and will pay without question, is unforgiveable. Patruno is happy to work with you as long as you agree to do what they want. When did businesses become more important than their customers? My advice: Look around until you find a price within your budget for work you plan to have done, and select businesses that are willing to negotiate and provide exellent, timely service.
