I really wanted to 'tone' my hair down from the last cut , which was very creative, to a more traditional, elegant look. I got shorter Bob that was very timeless. Donald IS GREAT! He is very talented and is very very different when it comes to style. He is more traditional. He makes your hair look effortless and natural :). While Cha is very modern and creative, Sassoon style. Nothing wrong with Cha :) just Donald might be my go to now. :)

I made an appointed to have my hair styled this morning. Today is the day of my baby shower and I'm too heavily pregnant to comfortable do my own hair...plus, mama wanted to be pampered a bit, you know? So I called yesterday and asked for an appointment. I was given Donald's number and told to reach out to him. I texted him and described exactly what I wanted: my hair straightened with soft curls added. He responded that he could take me, and we had a plan set for 10am today. I got to VIP before 10am and waited. Donald was late. Okay...no biggie...it happens. I get it. He sat me down and I told him again what I wanted. He worked in silence, beginning to straighten my hair. Mind you, it was about 10:10 by the time he started...and another woman walked in and asked him if he could give her a haircut. He told her yeah and they agreed on 10:30...which was confusing. He still had my style to do though? I figured he knew what he was doing so I didn't say anything. I was really uncomfortable because the lady was just sitting there staring at me, waiting for me to be done. Donald straightened my hair, and did a poor job of it. Which I was expecting; most stylists, when they put curls in my hair, don't make my hair pin-straight. But instead of continuing, he pulled off my cape thing and told me it would be $25. I just looked at him like...excuse me? And then he had the nerve to ask me how much I wanted to give him as a tip since I was using my card. I spoke up and told him that what he'd done was not what we talked about either via text OR when I sat down, and I wasn't happy. I was actually damn near in tears. I looked awful! All he did was vaguely gesture to my hair and tell me "it has a slight curve". Infuriated beyond words and waaaay to pregnant to tactfully handle the situation any further, and because I no longer trusted him, I paid him the $25 and left. I ended up going right around the corner to Salon Michelle, where the owner took me in instantly and fixed the hack job Donald had done. Had he listened to me in the first place, that would have avoided my bad experience. And had he listened to me when I told him he hadn't done what we'd talked about...if he had even TRIED to correct it instead of trying to convince me that my eyes weren't seeing a bad hair job...if he had even just apologized, and not rushed me for a walk in...this situation and my business could have been salvaged. Instead, he ignored me, did a bad rush job on me, took my money anyway, and sent a very pregnant, very stressed out woman away disappointed. I won't ever go back to him or VIP.

I continue to get stopped by strangers and complimented on my hair, as well as compliments from friends (which I DO appreciate) I just distinguish between the two because I think it speaks to Lindsey's talent that complete strangers talk to me about my hair. . . . Lindsey is a true artist when it comes to hair and very passionate about her craft. In addition, she has helped me identify products to keep my hair healthy, despite the fact that I demand to continue to be a blonde. I have the most beautiful blonde color happening and it actually feels soft and silky - which is amazing to me. For these reasons I will continue to give all my hair business to Lindsey. Even when I don't know what I want, we have established enough history in the "chair" for me to sit down and ask her to just go for it. Never have I left her chair unhappy. Her color technique is superior to anyone I have seen (including the high priced stylists in LA and NYC). Lindsey has worked me to evolve my cut from super-short and dying it except for a patch of grey though growing it out and making it copper and gold. Products were also nicely organized on the shelves. I asked SUZIE CERVANTES to take on the grueling task of lightening my asian dark brown hair to light blonde. She informed me that it may take multiple sessions as to avoid damaging my hair. So far, I am very pleased with the current color! I'm still planning on going lighter, so I will be going back :) Suzie was also kind enough to let me text her if I ever had a questions on hair products, etc I just wished she explained more of the process of lightening my hair and what she's actually doing during each step. So this is what I got for $700... I had black hair to begin with and understand that the color…read moremight not have blended well with the blonde but this is just horrible! You should not be able to see my natural hair length compared to the extensions hair length, that should have been blended with a cut/ trim during the process of applying the extensions. My hair cut was so blunt and choppy . My hair was pointed out by so many people, I was so embarrassed even more so when asked how much I paid! I asked for my hair to be lightened and maybe that would help but I have no idea why She would put high lights in an ombré! So I went to get my hair cut blended somewhere else, she did an amazing job without taking off length . I got the high lights out of my ombré and it looks so much better! When I asked her to fix it she said it would be an extra charge, I don't think that's fair for already paying $700. Not a good experience at all!!! I could have done it myself at home with some cheap clip-ins and it would have looked better.
