I've been coming to Deborah since 1999, and I honestly didn't even realize she had a Yelp page until now! She absolutely deserves this review. For more than 25 years, Deborah has been incredibly consistent. She always makes my hair look beautiful, but more importantly, she has always helped me keep it healthy. She has been through ALL my hair eras Blonde, brown, dark brown, almost black, and everything in between. One of my favorite looks was when she did my light brown hair with highlights. I would constantly get stopped by people asking where I got my hair done. That's actually how so many of my friends and colleagues ended up going to Deborah too, and many of them still go to her today. She is extremely talented with color, cuts, and beautiful extensions. I also have very curly hair, so having someone who truly knows how to cut curly hair without having you walk out looking like a mushroom is KEY! Deborah gets it. She also stays up to date on the latest products, techniques, and styles, which I really appreciate. After all these years, I can confidently say I trust her with my hair. If you're looking for an experienced and talented hairstylist in Lawndale or anywhere in the South Bay, I definitely recommend Deborah! read more

I was relocated Moved from the south bay area. I appreciated their service, after I moved out: Excellent but the owner loved my long hair, and find it difficult to do what i used to ask her, while using her service, which was to cut my hair more then just few inches: a bob sryle It was a compliment though. The owner enjoyed handling my type of hair. I wish her the best. She was so caring that when my appointment was early evening, she took the pain and insisted that she dropoed me home, as late as 9pm I thought I was grateful but, thinking about it now, I was not grateful enough but the owner had a professional till I moved out of the area. read more

Been with Deborah for much longer than 10 years now- but wouldn't dare go elsewhere. She is the absolute best at what she does. She is by appointment only these days. And please treat her with all the kindness, she is a gem. You will not leave disappointed - she has a gift At what she does. Don't forget to tip well- she is a small business owner for well over 30 years. She has done my daughters hair- friends hair- not much she is unfamiliar with in the hair care industry. read more

I've been a regular for a couple of years now and I couldn't be more satisfied with DeBora. She's a one woman show and she's done a terrific job every visit! She's an expert! I usually come for a regular cut and keratin treatment (which takes hours). DeBora is not only an expert but she makes sure your are comfortable and gives your appointment undivided attention. Prices are the most reasonable for the service and I am always satisfied with the outcome! I recommend 10 out of 10!!!!! Thank you!!! read more

Was recommended by my moms friend and although skeptical at first due to our age difference, I was pleasantly surprised. Deborah works on clients of all ages and even mentioned some hairstyles/colors that I know are trendy right now which made me feel better overall. She was really tender with me and made sure I was comfortable throughout my time there. I think as long as you're open to the way she does her job, she'll take care of you. Also, have your inspo pictures ready! She loves to see them so she knows exactly what you want. read more

Total Beauty - Layered cut with highlights and a blowout with some curls :) - Hair Salons Near Me - Lawndale, California

I've been coming to Deborah at Total Beauty for close to 3 years now (this review is way over due). I was so happy to have found her as my previous hairdresser retired after doing my hair for almost 20 years. I was very nervous the first time as I literally found her on YELP and didn't have the benefit of a personal recommendation. She is such an open and honest person. I just love our conversations. She's so easy to talk to. She always does an amazing job on my hair and her prices are super competitive, especially for the amount of professional skills she possesses. I always get a cut and highlights and am never disappointed. See pic and then go see Deborah. You won't regret it! read more

Total Beauty Salon was the best accident that could have happened to me. Long story short I'm getting married 7/30/2022 I've had so many bad experiences with hair salons that I wanted to get a head start on my hair. I went to one salon to get a quote on extensions and they hadn't updated their advertising and no longer had someone to do extensions however the owner of this place referred me to (hair angel ) Debora and told me she was a specialist with hair extensions and that she had about 30 years experience. At this point; panic mode kicked in and was like great here we go to another salon. But turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me, Debora is a beautiful person and can she work miracles!!, my hair looked like I got into a fight with the weed whacker and doubtfully thought there's no way she can fix this mess, wow did she prove me wrong. I walked out of there a whole new person and not just cause i felt like one but cause I looked like a totally different person. My fiancée was amazed, he had to close his eyes to look again. Debora goes above and beyond for her clients, makes them feel welcomed and gives them that one on one pampering, she puts so much love into her clients hair. Debora is doing my hair for my wedding and I know if she left me looking good now, she'll leave me looking amazing that day. Thank you Debora. #imstickingwithTOATALBEAUTY read more

Deborah has been doing my hair for 21 years and I'm in love with the absolute magic she works with any of my crazy ideas. Sometimes I want shorter or longer, more blonde less blonde and the list goes on. She's amazing. read more

deborah gave me my first curly/wavy cut after i stopped using heat tools and tbh i was obsessed with it for months. i was nervous about getting a layered cut but she got it just right. my hair had bounce and body, the shorter layers allowed my hair to encourage its natural curl pattern. it's been 3 months since my last cut with her and i still haven't used heat because the shape looks so good on my hair when it air dries. i will be going to deborah so long as she will see me! read more

I hadn't been in a salon for years, I have also been cutting my own hair (do not recommend )and I decided it was time for a professional haircut. I have very thick hair and it is a bit difficult to cut. I went to Total Beauty and am so impressed. I love my haircut! She is professional and boy does she know what she's doing! I'm a very happy customer and will be back to have my hair colored! Thank you!! read more

after getting a bad hair coloring experience and haircut I decided to try total beauty and she was a lifesaver! I am more than thrilled with the results of my cut-and-style! Deborah is truly the best at handling a range of curly types; my hair has different textures (two varieties of curl, small ringlet and large spiral, and a deep wave), and my layered cut looks great! I had 13" of hair cut off in October '15 for donation; cut and styled by Fantastic Sam's (what a *mistake*), but the stylist there clearly didn't understand what I wanted or how to cut hair with various textures, and I've been unhappy with the lack of definition since. I called on a Tuesday and Deborah had an appointment for me on Saturday of the same week! I gathered from other reviews that she's usually booked a week or so in advance, so I was really pleased to get an appointment so soon. Deborah fixed my lackluster cut with no difficulty at all, and was also able to recommend a texturizer spray [AFFINAGE Salt Spray] (which also manages frizz - YES!) that cuts down my product use and style time considerably (always a bonus). It's been a week since my haircut, and my hair still looks great! It's healthy, much lower-maintenance, and has tons of body and texture. Thank you, Deborah! I'll be back for a trim in a few months. :) read more

Total Beauty is a Highly Recommendable salon. I did some Yelp research before selecting a salon to come in and have my hair cut. I was happy to find that Deborah's Total Beauty salon is everything her customers raved about in their review. It's an intimate salon, by appointment only- Deborah spent an hour transforming my hair into the style I wished for by referencing an image I'd brought in. The entire style session was a breeze. Deborah is very welcoming, knowledgeable, and amicable in conversation. She styled my hair and gave my tips for up keeping it, as well as introduced me to new products that promote healthy hair. Her price is reasonable and affordable for the amount of attention she applies into her work. She's a professional. read more

Deborah did an AMAZING job with my hair. First of all, she's been in the business for a long time and knows what she is doing. She can hook you up so well and the best part is her products are natural and not harmful/drying. She educates you on your hair type if you ask decent questions and strike up a conversation with her and it's best that you do that so that you can understand how to take better care of your hair type. I respect the fact that she does not try to gatekeep her products the way most hairstylists do... she's so open and asks you to take pictures of her products she uses so that you are informed and she really wants only the best for your hair and will make sure you know how to take care of it as best as possible. I also loved how she hooked me up with special hair goodies at the end to maintain the silkyness and smoothness in my hair and I never learned so much in detail about my hair. Thank you Deborah for my new look I love it so much!! read more

Had my hair colored and highlights done today and I don't have enough positive words to say how happy I am with the results. My hair was dry and damaged looking with faded red hair color that was beyond a hot mess. Now the color is perfect looks healthy and shiny. I love the way she cut my hair. My ends feel so soft. Thank you so much. I will definitely be a returning customer. P.s. she has a great fun personality that makes you feel like you're right at home. read more

Wow! Deborah is a kind caring soul with good hair cutting skills. I have crazy curly hair that's been pretty blah over the last year. I am always really anxious about getting haircuts because I like to keep my length. I came here after looking up a hair salon near me on yelp for curly hair. She was very attentive to what I asked for. When I told her I really liked Bruno Mars and she played it for me on her sound system! It really made the time go by and made me feel less nervous about my haircut. I can't believe how amazing my hair cut looked! I'll be posting a pic for you to see how amazing it is! read more

I don't even think I can put into words how much I recommend Deborah!! Even setting up my appointment over the phone made my day, her energy is amazing. Immediately upon greeting her, she is just the sweetest. Showed her some pictures and videos of what I was going for and talked it over with her for about 20 minutes to decide what was best for my hair!! She explains everything she uses and how it helps and does whatever she can to accommodate you to ensure you have the best time. She has a tv she plays shows and music on, it feels like a little home away from home. I loved how much conversation we had. Couldn't thank her enough for everything she did for me, she really is a professional at duplicating any look you desire. Almost forgot to mention the price! It is honestly such a reasonable price for the type of work she does. I was surprised in the best way! 1000/10, if you are looking for a hairdresser that feels like a friend and is amazing at what she does, I really cannot recommend her enough. This is the greatest Stylist in Southern California! Deborah is absolutely awesome! Her cuts are perfection; her color is always right on; her highlights are incomparable; and, her eyebrow shaping is always fabulous. She has worked with my hair from long to short, short to medium, curly to straight, straight to wavy, and from dark brown to light brown to showing some grey (only momentarily) and back to brown again. Each time I walk out of her shop, I am empowered. What speaks volumes for her ability is that even weeks after I have had my appointment with Deborah, and as my hair is growing out, the style and cut remains and my hair still looks great and is easy to style. She works magic with cowlicks, hair flaws, thinning areas and maintains a holistic approach to my entire head of hair. Her focus has always been to make me happy and make me look the best I can look. When I arrive and I see others walking out of her shop, I am impressed by her skill with extensions. I would never have guessed that her clients had short hair. They look so glamorous with their long hair. The other thing that I appreciate is that Deborah is very sweet and takes special care of her senior citizen clients. I have watched her go out of her way to help them. Deborah is always fun to talk with and there is kindness, consideration, and generosity that exudes from her. I often hear her going out of her way to accomodate the schedules of her clients. What more can I say? Deborah is a true professional and I will continue to be her humble client! read more

Scheduled an appointment, showed up and was told she wouldn't be able to see me before she had to leave for a church outing. I went back the next day and for my cut and color. I showed pictures and described what I wanted and what I got was far from what I described or showed. During the entire visit, she had you tube videos on that were Anti Hillary Clinton. They were just any anti Hillary videos they were videos talking about her being a child molester and her and Bill being in the slave trade. It was crazy and it went on for hours, just playing the next you tube video that was anti Hillary. I don't care who you vote for but I don't need or want to hear crazy stuff like that. My hair was styled in a way that it looked great while I was in her low light studio. When I got home, another story. I couldn't believe what I looked like. I called Deborah the next day and she said I could come in and she would fix it. She fixed it by putting the same color on my head so it hid nothing. I couldn't believe it ... she didn't listen to my complaint at all. I still tipped her because I'm not going to stiff anyone that is doing a service for me. After spending $150, I went to Ralph's at midnight and bought a dark brown box dye to cover up the bad hair job. read more

Having had not only color but also many types of extensions over many years, I can say hands down that the services I received with Deborah has been the best all around experience of my life. Her attention to detail, her expertise in color and her careful selection of products she carries in her little shop are superb. She is not cheap, but you get what you pay for and you leave feeling not only well taken care of and pampered but feeling and looking your best. She reminds me of one of your favorite aunts. Lotsa love and hugs Don't let the location on busy Hawthorne Blvd in Lawndale fool you! It's a little cottage of a shop and as noisy as it is outside, it's surprisingly quiet inside. I've been to all the foufy and trendy salons. Everyone looks cute and stylish but in the end I didn't always feel like I got what I paid for. First time here based on the reviews I read. The reviews were all accurate. I got color, extensions put in and a cut. I found my new stylist. read more
