It was memorial weekend. So I was searching for affordable no frills hair salon in the area. My friend retired, and the gals at her salon closed early for memorial weekend. Americas cuts is just down the street from the hotel we stayed at, and Araceli stated that they weren't busy so just to come over. Which was nice because we had events all weekend while in town. They were very affordable. The salon I worked at years ago charges double the price. So my hubby got a haircut from a young man's who just moved her from Nicaragua, and was cute because he was practicing his English with my husband. A young lady started with my hair washing, but since she has a regular client coming in soon, Araceli took over and did the styling for me. She was so sweet, and was very apologetic when she burnt my scalp a little with the flat iron. I have a thick head so it was fine. My hubby's hair looked great he did a good job, and my shampoo style was fine as well to tie us over for the memorial weekend. Place was small but quaint, seemed clean enough. My husband did tell me he thought it was strange the questions the gal who washed my hair was asking him. He said she seems to be leery of him at first. Not sure why? I thought was it because he's white? I'm Asian so I thought it was weird the questions she asked. But at the end she was kind and said goodbye. read more

* THIS IS A CASH ONLY BUSINESS * I was recommended by family members to check this place out for a haircut, so I did. I called ahead to ask about same day appointments but I was told to just come on in and that someone would work with me once available. I got seated right away when I walked in (whooo!). About my hair type: My hair is long, thick, heavy, and wavy. I went in wanting to keep my length, trim off the dead ends, and add some long layers. My hair stylist was named Boots. She took really good care of me! I felt bad because I think managing my heavy hair gave her a workout... she handled it well though. Lol! The things she did that I liked: - thoroughly shampoo and condition hair - thinned out my hair - confirmed the length at which I wanted my hair cut before doing it - allowing me to see the progress of my hair cut after the different layers were cut - being very patient when it came to double checking the length was good all across Boots was great! She was a little rough around the edges (whacking my face with my own hair, combing my hair a little too intensely against my scalp, and poking me with her long nails here and there), but she does a fab job! I'll definitely return for my next cut. If you don't have cash, they accept Venmo and CashApp but note that they prefer cash tips if/when possible. Give this place a go! I knew I was in trouble when I started reaching for my scissors to cut my own hair. I have my own rule: " When I even think of cutting my hair... make an appointment...NOW!" ‍ I've had too many hair disasters at my own hand. Had one of those days several months ago. This business is within walking distance from my house. I walked over there and made an appointment for the next day. I had no idea what to do with my hair - none! I threw caution to the wind and since my hairdresser seemed kind of hip but not over the edge- I handed my problem to her. No small task- I wouldn't wish my hair on my worst enemy! In no time, I looked and felt like a new person. Practical hair style I could amp up or just wash & go. I've been a few more times and the same good results at a very good price. I went to Lorena in desperate need of fixing my hair after removing the color with Oops Hair Color Remover and she was so kind, gentle and look at what she did I mean it was MAGICAL! She is very careful not to damage your hair and I know I can go back to her and trust that she will keep my hair healthy shiny and minky soft. First time and last time for this place!! My hair complete damage. I alway got perm 2 times a year and never be like this time. She start to wash my hair without wash her hands. Yes, she just ate pizza, I can smell. Then she made my face neck and shoulder soak. Nothing protect or try to be careful. And when she finished my hair, she knew my hair was damage, she let me out from the salon when my hair still soak again. She said the heat will damage my hair. I had come to this salon only once before on a recommendation of a family member. I had an awesome experience with Boots. She gave the best service and cut/color I've had in years! Unfortunately, I was told she's on vacation til the end of the month, so I made an appointment with another available hairdresser for the time slot. What a vast difference from my last visit! Although she was nice, she did such a sloppy unprofessional job with the coloring and washing of my hair, I was dredding the cut! The coloring job I thought was how I do it at home. I might as well have saved myself the money. It was like she was throwing on spackle. She's rough when handling your hair/head at the sink, sloppy with the water and inconsiderate of the water temperature. After having half my makeup washed of my face, she trimmed and blow-dried my hair in a way I've never seen done before!! Ugh! I bit my lip and just let her try and finish so I could get out. I Zelled her the cost and still tipped her 20%........Painfully! She about grabbed my cell phone out of my hand before I left to see how much I sent. How rude! It was a rough man-handling experience with the cutting job of a child. The next day after I washed my hair I saw the full damage. The cutting of my bangs (and overall hair) is worse than I thought and the color looks like the store brand I buy at the store. Never again. read more

I needed to get a hair cut I was going to go to another place but they were not open. There was no one there I was taken in right away and my hair dresser was Boots. After my hair cut I was going to pay with my debit card and was told they only accept cash. No mind you there is NOT ONE SIGN POSTED ANYWHERE that says CASH ONLY. On their door it shows they have Mastercard, Visa and American Express logos implying they accept Credit and debit cards. I had to write a check and then Boots had NO RECEIPT to provide as well. This place seems VERY SHADY and I will NEVER go here again. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. This is 2024 and hardly ANYONE uses cash anymore. Stay away from this place and also Boots at first acted like ShE WAS THE OWNER then acted like she wasn't. This place really needs to be investigated. Something is not on the up and up. I recommend that people stay away and go to a legit business to have your hair cut where you can pay by debit or credit card and get a receipt when you leave like professional businesses do. read more

The woman who cut my hair was very friendly, and that star is for her. As for the service, I asked to cut my hair and layer it. Because the cheap cut doesn't include blow drying your hair (first time I've encountered this and thought it was strange), I had no idea what my hair would look like when it dried. After I got home, I blew dried it and it was a huge mess. The cut/"layering" was so horribly choppy. This was the first time I've ever had such a bad layering job. I also noticed that she hadn't used those funny layering scissors. I went back to the salon the next day. I was hesitant to ask them to fix it in case they messed up my hair more, but figured I might give them another job (plus I didn't wanna pay again to get their mess cleaned up). Another woman helped me. She insisted that I had gotten my hair "textured," and I repeated assured her that I had never even asked for that. If what they first did to my hair was "texturing," I don't know why that service exists -- it's awful. So the second woman attempted to fix my hair. I was upset about the whole thing, and I asked if she would blow dry it (after she washed and "layered" my hair) so I could see and make sure it was right the second time. She refused and said that would be extra. Lol seriously? I came here because Yelp said it was affordable, had good ratings and I only wanted a cut. I had a real good experience. I only had a trim/blow dry/style and came out to $52. Couple things I disliked which was the blow dry and product. The product put on my hair afterwards smelled like a mousse or hairspray. Whatever it was had a very distinct chemical smell that lingers in my hair just like tresemme mousse and hairspray does so idk. Then the blow dry.. it looked perfect but in less than 10 minutes after leaving my hair looked horrible and was ridiculously frizzy. Which pretty much tells me an anti frizz serum and smoothing cream was not put in my hair. I had thought as much but i figured maybe i just wasnt paying attention. After you blow dry your hair it lacks moisture which is why the products are so important. I would certainly come back but only for trims. read more

I spent hours searching for a good salon with reasonable prices so when I found this place it blew all the rest away! Carmen gave me long layers, trimmed my split ends, and was very attentive to my needs. I asked her to cut as little as possible..and for the first time, a hair stylist actually listened to me and cut no more than what I asked for! When I finished I thought she would charge me about 30 dollars, but it was only $16.95! I am very impressed with the staff's friendliness and the way they actually listen to what the customer wants!
