We had a terrible experience with this company and , in particular, a salesman named Eddy. We were looking for a cooktop. We did not have cutout dimensions but we knew it had to be shallow. Eddy said the Electrolux one we chose from the store was about 3 inches deep so we bought it being pretty sure that would fit. When the installer arrived and unpacked it several weeks later, the cooktop was not 3 inches but was 7 inches deep and would not fit in our spot. I spent quite a bit of time researching cooktops to see what would fit. Eddy also did some research and came up with a Kitchen Aid model that he said would fit. According to my research, I didn't think it would but decided to go with his expertise. I wanted to return the Electrolux cooktop but Eddy said no we'll just do a trade when your new cooktop comes in. It should arrive in 5-10 days. Weeks later, I had heard nothing and called. Now I started to get serious run around blaming everyone else for why our cooktop hadn't been delivered. Eddy said he would follow up but it was always myself who had to call him to see what was going on. Long story short, 6 weeks later we still had not received the Kitchen Aid cooktop and we were getting no answers or customer service from Eddy. My husband and I decided that we no longer had any confidence in Total Appliance and returned our original Electrolux cooktop to the store. No one from accounting was there at that time but Eddy said he would start the process for our refund on Monday. After a month of not seeing a refund on our Visa, I called Eddy again-he said he would follow up. Never did. This happened twice. Finally we called and spoke to the Accounting person who had NEVER received any direction to issue us a credit! After at least 2 phone calls from myself to Eddy, it still hadn't been processed! Many phone calls later and now involving the general manger, we are going to get our credit less a 20% restocking fee. We argued why should we have to pay a restocking fee for a cooktop that we would never have bought if the salesman had been knowledgible enough to tell us it was 7 inches deep. Nor had the salesman ever mentioned a restocking fee.The company did not back down. Now we not only lost 3months of time in this mess, we had to pay a restocking fee and pay the installer something for his first aborted install. All in all this has left a very sour taste in our mouth and we would never shop at Total Appliance again. read more
