My toes were already talons from a couple months obsessing on a freelance project (which lead to the shoulder injury). So I buckled and made an appointment to get a pedicure. My main reason I avoid cutting my hair and having "spa days" is my fear of having to be social the whole time but also the fear of awkward silences. I'm a recluse. Recluses do not like services. So this was a courageous moment for me. But fear not, introvert! I got to make my appointment online via email. And when I got there, Don was equal parts friendly, chatty and focused, relaxing. I didn't get my nails painted because that's too outside my comfort zone. However, I am now staring at my wiggling toes and very happy to report my feet look human again. Not just human...pampered!

I was in a bit of a time crunch and was unable to get service at my regular location. Considering that Cactus Nails was close by and that they had immediate availability, I decided to take a chance and give them a try. I was promptly and happily greeted upon my arrival and directed to the station I would first encounter for my pedicure. An older lady came from the back, and it appeared that I had interrupted her meal, which I apologized for. Not sure if she understood that, though. They had blue, plastic tub liners that I thought was weird, but maybe they don't like cleaning and sanitizing after each client. The attendant even changed the liner in the middle of the process...even weirder. For the pedicure, I experienced inconsistency from one foot/leg to the other. The process seemed very rushed, too. I found it startling and disruptive, as were times that the clippers/cutters yanked on skin around the nail bed. The finish resulted in an un-uniform appearance and the nails were cut all of the way down to where they attach to the underlying skin. The massage was ok, but even a mediocre massage is better than nothing. Moving over to the finger/hand station, that process was very rushed too. The buffing and finishing file left a lack of uniformity, again. Upon checking out, I was hit with a $47 tab. While getting my money out, I noticed dirt under one nail. The young lady, who was busy with another customer, took notice and touched up the dirty thumbnail, as well as properly shaping it. I sure wish I had her for the entire treatment. I'm not going to add photos, because this isn't a foot fetish website, but take my word for it...they're short and inconsistent and there were still areas missed by the pumice/skin softening stone. I wish them well, but I would not want the same attendant should I go back. As much as I wish I could've communicated with her, the language barrier was too much. Instead of small talk, she kept speaking low enough that you would think she was talking to herself. To me, that's unsettling.

I didn't follow directions after the first treatment, even though a thorough handout was given to me. I didn't let them properly heal, I put on sunscreen too soon and consequently the eyebrows didn't take. I went back and explained all the things I did: I applied sunscreen too soon! I had it done again and am so pleased! Really, I couldn't be happier. The healing took 6 weeks- I was careful to gently wash with the cleanser that was provided, adding a touch of the healing salve and always covered my head with a hat to protect my eyebrows. It's been only 6 months and they are still looking great! Very pleased with the results. I also had filler and botox added. Not only am I throughly satisfied, the Nurse practitioner was so gracious, gentle, and caring. These women make you feel so special. I feel fortunate that I took a shot in the dark and went in without any references. I will go back for more of their services.
