I know my way around the glue gun and a Silhouette machine but not a palette of watercolors or charcoal pencils. This was the perfect class! I got to create something without any real preconceived idea of how it "had" to look and for me, that was refreshing! Rhonda was informative and patient in explaining why were doing things a certain way and she left the artistic part up to me. She covered all the different materials she commonly uses. I appreciated all the recommendations and useful info on the materials. I feel confident I could create another geode all in my own now. Truly a relaxing process and a great self-care experience. Going to try to make it a girls night next time!

It's BYOB which, tbh makes the experience even better. You select a picture from multiple binders available OR you bring in your own & let her know ahead of time. It's a small lil studio so you get hands on instructions from Maria on techniques to use and she provides the canvas and all the supplies. My painting actually came out really nice to my surprise. I'd totally come back to this place again. It's really fun for a GNO or any type of event really.

I was still happy with what they were able to offer us for a small company Christmas party. We got to make a resin Christmas tree with shard glass. I mean the amount of options were mind blowing. I just wanted to keep making more and more but I did two different ones, three if you count my sons but he pretty much was able to follow along with the directions and the only help was when we were mixing the resin. The owner was our instructor and she was very patient with us and helped us with our visions. Our event was at her studio and it can hold up to about 10 with some space. If you have a larger group please let them know and they will advise what can be worked out. They don't just do resin they also have paint, jewelry making, mosaic and other things just ask them. Her daughter is the precious girl on her business cards I posted in the pics. Fine and Dandy is located in Gonzales, just barely past Prairieville, so super close to Baton Rouge! It's nestled in a little strip mall, currently next to a kickboxing studio. I went at night, but my GPS still took me right to it. I was invited to a painting party and was excited that it was not the same ones I'd been to before where you follow the teacher as she talks you through painting inside the lines. It felt way more creative than that and was completely personalized! Our group of ladies pre-ordered and pre-paid from several choices ahead of time, then they were waiting for us on the table when we walked in! We each made a completely unique, monogrammed masterpiece! I chose the circle with my last name, what year my family was established (est.), and the big letter for my last name - all framed by Mardi Gras beads! I painted mine purple and gold to use all year round for this LSU fan. Truly something I needed as I have nothing on my front door majority of the year. Ashley had great color choices, was helpful to give suggestions and helped finalize the project, but also left you plenty of room for you to let your artsy side just flow! Oh and I can't forget! She has an adorable gift shop set up in her studio too. Lots of local vendors sell items there, and she always does vinyl clothing (like monogramming), and I'm sure way more other options than I even realized. And she said she's constantly getting in new items. Definitely a place to check out on a regular basis and also a place to plan a birthday party for kids, girls' nights, Girl Scout Troop's, etc. And you could totally make a creation to then gift to someone as I'm sure they'd love it! They share a building with a salon that I walked in (as I don't think they have a sign for the salon). Cute sign for Mud Pies & Masterpieces outside, just further entrance from Jefferson Hwy. Came here for a 9 y/o girl birthday party today, and immediate to was impressed with just how fun and colorful it was on the inside. Locally owned by Tara and Stephanie who set it all up, taught the painting class, and helped with clean up. The birthday girls' mom shared how easy it was to host a party here and that her daughter loves going there. They offer camps and private events, so check them out! I know we'll be back!
