The reason I came here was because the owner, German Perez, is a friend of a friend. I think he was…read morekind enough to give me a particularly good deal because of that connection. That said, I honestly believe that he would give anyone a fantastic price and extremely competent work. The other reviews testify to this as well. I think all that's needed here is to compare an estimate I got from a 5-star/26 review mechanic across town with German's final bill to me. The mechanic I'm referring to will not be named, but they specialize in working on Hondas. Their cost estimates are on the printed paper and repairs in question are highlighted in yellow. The handwritten receipt is from German. The most glaring difference between the estimate from the Honda specialist and the bill from German relate to parts. The numbers speak for themselves: German's price for belts: $45 Other mechanic price for belts: $229 A 500% markup! German's price for engine mount: $18.45 Other mechanic price for engine mount: $161 An 875% markup German's price for break pads: $34 Other mechanic price for break pads: $63 A 200% markup. I sat across the desk while German called the vendor for Honda parts and I could hear the entire conversation. The cost for parts German charged me are what he was charged. It's one thing to markup by 15-25%, but markups that are 200%-800% for parts are absurd and that is how money is made across town. Save yourself this indigity, and have German fix your vehicle. When I gave him the key to my car, he could tell everything that was wrong with it in minutes. He's utterly transformed the car and I know he went so far as to test drive it several times to make sure the work was sound. GP Auto is superb.
