My wife had her eyebrows and upper lip threading, her skin turned super red and swollen. Says if it still stays red come back I will refund and don't get service from us next time. Such unprofessional service should not be encouraged. My question was genuine not to question her capabilities.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Carolyn at Tocci Salon. My hairdresser argued with…read moreme from the start about what I wanted done, insisting she was the expert and refusing to do the style I'd asked for. The disagreement escalated into a genuine argument, and I ended up in tears and had to leave. What makes this worse: they wasted 40 minutes of my 2-hour appointment on this back-and-forth before deciding they weren't ready to do what I wanted -- and then blamed the lack of remaining time as the reason. I did show up for my appointment. Despite that, the salon charged me the full $200 CAD cancellation fee, coding it as a "no-show." I disputed the charge with Amex and explained exactly what happened, including the 40 minutes I was present and the fact that the salon itself ran out the clock. Amex sided with the salon and I was charged the $200 anyway. I would not recommend Tocci Salon. If you go, be aware that if a stylist decides mid-appointment not to do your service, you may still be billed as if you never showed up.

Hair Happiness becomes my go to place for my haircut since the first visit 2 years ago…read more Asuke is my stylist and is always polite and attentive to my requests. He always discusses with me what style I want and gives me suggestions. Sometimes we will have some alternations based on my own facial shape. This time I pampered myself to have the shampoo with additional cost. The junior staff was so tender to handle my hair with care. She washed and massage my sculpt. It was a nice treatment. Asuke cut my hair efficiently and carefully did the final trims after blow dry my hair. I love the cut he did that can be maintained by myself. I know Japanese hair salon costs more, but I only go twice a year so it is worthwhile to spend the money for looking good.

I booked myself in for the same day (surprised booking was so easy) with a Regular Stylist, Asuke. They have three different levels: Junior Stylist $30, Regular Stylist $40, and Senior Stylist $50. They also have a very convenient online booking system on their website, which also includes a little bio for every stylist. I had my hair shampooed before the cut, and let me just say that Asuke has the most gentle hands. Even when he was cutting my hair, I almost dozed off a few times. His technique is soft and gentle yet skillful with them scissors! He discussed what I'm looking for in the beginning and made sure he had a clear idea of what I want. His English may not be up to par but it's decent considering he's only been in Canada for 8-months. The Salon itself is located on the second floor and is small but very clean and cozy. There wasn't any other customers at 6PM so it was pretty quiet with only my stylist and the receptionist. I think I've finally found myself a Stylist to return to! I also love the late hours - they open till 8:30PM! I would suggest them to offer their customers a drink or something - that would be my only complaint because I was super thirsty after my walk there. Tip: They also have a points system that earns you $30 off in the future!

The entire interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Instead of feeling supported and listened to during what should have been a personal and confidence-boosting experience, I felt dismissed and small.
