CANNOT RECOMMEND I had a very upsetting experience at Gabi's Wigs. I left my $4,000 wig overnight for a wash and dry service, trusting that it would be handled with professional care given both the value of the wig and the shop's pricing. When I returned to pick it up, the wig had been stretched out so much that it no longer fit properly and was no longer wearable. The cap and overall structure felt compromised, which is devastating when you've invested that much money into a piece. When I raised my concerns, instead of receiving support or a solution, I was told that going forward my service price would be increased by 50%. That response felt dismissive and punitive rather than helpful. Overall, this was a terrible client experience. The wigs and services are already extremely expensive, and based on how my situation was handled, I cannot recommend this shop. This shop owner has completely lost her sense of civility, decency and mental composure. read more

I've dropped into Gabi's once before last year. The same lady was at the front desk today. She said they're usually by appointment only, but she had a few minutes. She asked what I wanted and I said "a wig". Them she asked if I wanted one like the one I'm wearing. (!) She sort of came after me, and it was the same unwelcome feeling as I had the last time I tried to shop for a wig at Gabi's. I told her I just wanted to look around and wrntbtiwards the back and she said I couldn't see those; ( I guess they were spoken for.) Them she said their wigs weren't synthetic but REAL hair and cost around $5,000. Some $2,000. And some were $3,500. I guess she was making sure I could afford it. I thanked her for letting me know and just wanted to look around. Then she said something else which was equally sort of snide ( I can't recall) and then I said I was leaving because I didn't think I was welcome. She said I was being overly sensitive. I've been in sales for a long time. You think a store like this which has been around for decades and is very famous for its wigs, would have staff trained in customer service. She made me feel bad instantly. I will find another place for my wig shopping. I already have 12 wigs and am looking for something different. I will never return to this store because of her condescension. That was how I felt, and maybe it's just me. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. staff is rude and judgemental!!! Assumed that I couldn't afford any wigs based on how I look! Such discrimination at this store. showed no interest in the "consultation" in which they make you stand awkwardly at the front door. Made me feel so uncomfortable and will never be returning. EDIT TO RESPOND TO OWNER: If you are implying that I don't have a condition I'll just let you know that I have alopecia areata and that is the main reason why I decided to shop for wigs. I have nothing bad to say about your wig quality as I did not even get a chance to see them or try any on. I told whoever was there that this was my first time shopping at a wig store and now, your boutique has ruined my experience. The funny thing about calling before going is that I DID THAT. I booked a "consultation" and trusted that you and your staff would've been competent enough to even do a consultation properly and professionally. I've had alopecia and trichotillomania my whole life, and I've had all variations of hair loss - minimal, moderate, severe, you name it. About a year ago I shaved my head and have been loving having short hair, but had been looking at wigs online for some time and was really having difficulty understanding what might work for me, and whether or not I'd be getting something of quality. Considering wigs have exploded on social media and instagram lately with hundreds of new online retailers offering them, I was totally overwhelmed with choice. I stumbled on Gabi's store and salon online and thought I'd give it a try, but honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say, I was totally and completely blown away by the service. Working with Gabi and her team was like working with friends I had known for years. I worked with Mary who gave me a ton of options to choose from, going through different cap styles, colours, sizes, and cut options. They were able to answer all of my questions and were extremely knowledgeable. When we found the style we knew would work, Phibi custom cut the piece right on my head, exactly to the specifications I had asked for. I came to the shop with my mum and both she and I were blown away by how real it looked, even wet after washing! She did an amazing job and I will definitely work with her in the future!!! Hair loss is such a tricky thing to deal with - especially as a young person (28) who works in the fashion industry, you are always client facing and need to look stylish and put together every day. The reality of hair loss can make this difficult, and I am absolutely thrilled with the piece I purchased. It's going to make getting ready in the morning so much easier. I just want to reiterate again how happy I was with my experience - these items are not inexpensive and you really want to feel confident with who you're working with and how they're handling the styling. Gabi, Mary, Phibi, and the whole team, thank you so much for your help today and for a wonderful experience. Ladies of the GTA, I would absolutely recommend a visit to Gabi if you're dealing with hair loss, looking for a wig for medical or religious reasons, or are simply looking for a fuller style to compensate for thin hair or to change up your look. I can't even begin to explain how disappointing my experience at Gabi's wigs was. I went to Gabi's with a high expectation and unfortunately that expectation that was not even remotely met. I didn't know anything about wigs and trusted their expertise. I was very clear in asking for a lace front, Human hair wig to have the most natural look. I specifically asked for no layers and to match my hair colour. The wig that I received was the total opposite. It had a black mark in the beginning of the hair line that did not look natural. When I brought it to their attention, they wrote me off saying that's how these wigs are and to try to get used to it. Not to mention that the wig came extremely layered and not even close to my hair colour. After about a month I started visiting other wig shops and I had 3 different people tell me that the wig I received from Gabi's was a regular wig with lace sewed on after the fact to make it appear as though it was a real lace front wig, which is why I had the black mark in the hair line. When I brought it back to Gabi's they kept insisting that this was normal and their "attempt" to fix it was a complete joke, they just moved my part over and made it more zig zag so it was less obvious. What upsets me most about my experience there was that I voiced all my concerns to them the day I picked up my wig. I told them the black mark bothered me, I told them I didn't want layers and that the colour was wrong and also that the wig was way too thick for me. But again, I was told that I needed to get used to it, so foolishly I trusted them. Luckily I found another company that was more than able to give me what I wanted and I am much happier. The one good thing about my wig from Gabi's is the hair quality is amazing, but now it will be used as my back up wig. read more

I went to see Gabi today for a consultant on getting a hair topper or wig. I never met a more nicer person then Gabi, I explain my problem to her , she was very understanding of my problem, gave me suggestions on the pro and cons of the products that she sells. She was very patient with me in the trying of toppers and wigs. This isn't my first time in buying a topper. I explained to her of my very over priced topper that I have and told her I may have worn it about 20x over the three and a half years. Let's just say where I purchased is not the place I would go again to buy another piece. Very rude, aggregate , so full of himself and has no feelings for what the person is going through in losing their hair. Where at GABI'S WIG BOUTIQUE does the opposite , listens, suggest what looks good and affordable . Well I left there very happy and I purchased a hair topper. Very reasonable prices, friendly, warm, and above all cares about her customers. Learn from your mistakes, which I have. research and above all make sure they listen to what you want, not what they want to sell you, for them to make a fast buck. I am taking the time to write this review in hopes it saves someone else time and money. I decided to try Gabi's wigs when I needed a new human hair wig. It was machine stitched with a monofilament top and cost me a couple of thousand dollars. I've had a wig for over 20 years, I know how to care for a wig. After only 9 months the machine stitched hair started falling out and clumping together with the lines coming undone. I called Gabi's wigs and even though I remained polite, I was instantly faced with the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. I was very willing to come in and have them look at the wig to discern what the problem could be. I was treated like an idiot and told that it was because I did not apply heat to the wig in order to smooth out the hair cuticles. Like I've said before: 20 years with wig experience and this is how they try to dismiss my concerns - without more than a cursory glance at the wig and a statement that it looks like I've been sleeping in it (which of course I hadn't). After I insisted that it was a problem with the wig, I was very rudely dismissed and told that Gabi herself would need to address this and that she was out of town. Two weeks later, I have heard nothing - even after leaving a voicemail asking Gabi to please contact me. I was also told that only if I came in for the once a month cleaning and styling would I "maybe" be taken care of should a problem develop with the wig. The rude and dismissive attitudes are so unfortunate in an industry that largely caters to woman who are feeling vulnerable as a result of hair loss. I regret spending a penny in this wig boutique and would strongly encourage others to look elsewhere. Edited to add: I just received this message from "Gabi M" in response to my review: This could not have happened because we stand behind our wigs."Second we don't have monofilament wigs only silk and lace" Well, if I used the term monofilament incorrectly, I'm apologize. It appears to be a hand tied top wig, and none of that hair is coming out, only the machine stitched hair. I immediately called the boutique after receiving this message only to be told, yet again, that Gabi is out of town and would be back next week maybe. When I asked when she left town, I was given a date later than the date I went in. I would love to give Gabi the benefit of the doubt, and if she is out of town, who exactly replied to this review, and why yet again, did they not try to discuss with me in a level-headed fashion, how exactly they are going to "stand behind their wigs." I've never had worse experience with a hair salon of any kind that with this place. Though this review is months overdue, I nevertheless felt the need to express the horrendous experience both my mom and I had with this place. I have thin hair and use human hair pieces and wigs. Last spring my mom brought in one of my hair pieces that I needed coloured before my wedding in Cuba. They quoted her $80. She left the hairpiece with them, went to pick it up with me in the car (i use a wheelchair), and they told her she had to pay an extra $40 for "product" they had put in there. When my mom she hadn't asked for any additional "product" and had been quoted $80, one of the women, indicted to her staff to wash the wig, they made my mom stand there and wait and then handed it to her wet! I have never in my life seen this kind of, frankly disgusting treatment from people who are supposedly professionals. Not only did they hand back my $3000 hair piece back like a wet mop, when I got it home I saw that they had also cut it, which was never requested. Since the cap was originally moulded to my head, and they cut it without knowing this, they actually cut it crooked and now the hairpiece is completely ruined! I am considering taking this company to small claims court for ruining my $3000 hairpiece and I strongly urge people not to deal with these horrible, unprofessional people. read more

Huge selection of wigs made of real human hair. Helpful and caring staff who have years of experience dealing with customers who are cancer patients or who are suffering from alopecia. Just one tip. If you depend on them to wash and style your wig for you, make sure you find out from them NOT the internet (internet postings are not accurate), what time they close. Gabi's wigs aren't open on Saturdays, so if you DON'T find out from them personally, they could close and you could be left without your wig for longer than you had originally anticipated. Overall, staff are well trained to cut and style your wig any way you want it. Even though the cost is a bit high, it's standard prices for real human hair. read more

I recently visited Gabi's in order to try a wig for the first time ever. As someone who has no experience with wigs I was hoping for a positive and helpful experience. However I left quite disappointed and on the verge of tears. The wigs were uncomfortable, and I felt like i had to really work to get any answers or information. After trying on 3 wigs, and 15 minutes I felt pressured to put down a deposit in order to have a wig simply set aside until a future visit to cut it. When I hesitated the stylist left me sitting in the chair to help someone else for 15 minutes, without as much as an "excuse me" or a word. read more
