We walked by the restaurant and saw the menu prices and were immediately sold. The restaurant is quite nice. They are upscale lightning and beautiful decor. The restaurant was pretty full and we decide sitting at the bar would be fine. The staff and service was exceptional. The whole team would check on us constantly. As mentioned before, the pricing here is like a throwback to the 2010s! Hand Rolls for example were priced at $4. Most of the specialty rolls range from $10-12. All were selling points for us and we were so happy we gave them a try. Fresh sashimi with lots of options :) PARKING Located inside of Haven City, there is free parking although hard to find during weekends when it's super busy. It was around $65 and included a variety of sashimi including scallop, salmon, bluefin tuna, uni, and some type of surf clam appetizer. The fish was fresh, nicely packed, and presented beautifully. The Sapporo provided the palate cleanser that we needed. It was light, crisp, and a nice addition to our dinner. The Negi Toro Roll stood out to us. It was silky and buttery. I wanted to get another one, but I got full after the Rainbow Roll. The restaurant is small and dims their lights, making it appear intimate. There's a wall of traditional Japanese Masks displayed near the entrance. The staff was all attentive and friendly. Arrived here after seeing many ads on Instagram and a five-star overall rating by yelp. I got here after the lunch hour during the week and it was just about empty with the exception of one other party. There's plenty of parking since it's located outside of the Haven City Marketplace. The interior is modern, and the decor was upscale. There's a separate sushi bar along with many tables and booths. I could tell that this is not a Japanese owned eatery but was still curious to try the food here. The menu is laid out nicely with pics of the entrees. We ordered the Blue fin tuna, scallops, and uni don bowl and a bento box of Chicken katsu, tuna & salmon poke, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna roll, and salad. The bowl arrived first and I was taken back with how small of the blue fin sashimi cuts were and how unsatisfying the presentation was compared to the pic of the bowl in the menu. It was definitely not worth the premium price they are charging. The bento box didn't include miso soup like other authentic Japanese restaurants and the food was just average. Service here was under whelming and my waiter seemed to be just going thru the motions. Overall, I was disappointed with the entire experience here and afterwards ended up going to another eatery and ordering a beef and chicken teriyaki bowl. Obsessed is an understatement. If you haven't been to TOROMI in West Covina yet, you are seriously missing out. We ordered a massive spread, and everything was an absolute 10/10. The sashimi was literally a work of art and tasted just as fresh as it looked. But the Wagyu Beef Don was easily one of my favorite dishes of the entire meal. The combination of tender Wagyu, white rice, and egg was so simple but SO good. I honestly wasn't expecting it to stand out as much as it did. The Wagyu fried rice was also incredible and definitely worth ordering. We also tried a bunch of their specialty rolls, most of which are pictured here, and not a single one missed. Everything was beautifully presented, flavorful, and clearly made with a lot of attention to detail. The restaurant itself is also so cute and has such a nice atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for date night or a special dinner. And even their takeout packaging deserves a mention -- they boxed my leftover sashimi in a way that looked like a fresh sushi box, and it was honestly so cute. Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Food 3/5 New casual sushi spot in West Covina, interior is very nice, servers are friendly and attentive. Food wise, I think if you know all the similar restaurants in the area, the pricing is very competitive and great value. Now here's where it kind of missed the mark, the rice in my chirashi was a bit off, not quite sushi rice IYKYK. Mt Fuji roll: The avocado was crunchy, idk if that's intended but it was weird. The fried thin daikon over it was amazing. I do think this might be a 1-time thing, I've never had crunch avocado in a sushi roll before. Tempura combo: This was a must order, cooked perfectly and priced lower than competitors. Chirashi (Room for improvement): The rice has be better, and I'd like some fresh wasabi in the chirashi bowl even if it's just a small amount, along with a shiso leaf under the uni. The toro I had was also on the lean side. Shrimp head soup is +$1, so why not just charge $39 and add all these things to begin with. This is basically a "premium chirashi", so why not just make this better and call it that, and offer a regular chirashi as well. I think if someone is willing to spend in the high 30s-40 for a chirashi, a few dollars isn't going to matter if you get a more polished product. I do have a product suggestion: The Toromi Bowl (giant premium chirashi). If you've ever had Akasaka in Hacienda Heights, they used to be well known for a huge chirashi bowl that people waited hours to try. Get a bowl that's 30-40% bigger, add more rice, salmon, albacore, maybe yellowtail, regular tuna, some eel, and maybe one more piece of scallop, keep the rest of the premium stuff the same and top it off with a lot of ikura and ginger slice fillers, and charge $55-59. Nobody has anything like this in the area anymore, not even Ootoro (too small) or the current Akasaka (they've removed sweet shrimp/uni/toro). Thanks! read more

We tried a little bit of everything including a few different rolls, assorted sashimi, some sushi, two kinds of carpaccio, poke nachos, and the bluefin tuna bone marrow. Everything tasted really fresh and well prepared. The sashimi in particular was really good, and we really enjoyed all of the dishes we tried. Our server, Anna, was also wonderful. She was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. I'd say Toromi is a bit more affordable compared to a lot of other sushi spots, especially considering the quality of food. In my opinion, the quality here is actually better than some of the more pricey sushi places I've been to. I'm going to try Friday since it looks like they start from 11 thru 10pm. Went back for round 2! Ordered fried rice, another basic salmon roll, and the OMG. I thought the fried rice was a little too sweet and mushy? I prefer the grains of rice to be distinct and properly colored/flavored. My dad gave it an it's ok. Pictured below is the leftovers. He has no problem devouring a large bowl of rice and noodles. He left a lot so maybe 2.5 / 5 for the fried rice. The youngster ate the salmon roll and said it was good. Appears to like the restaurant so 5/5 stars for basic salmon roll. I ordered the OMG roll for lunch the next day. I'm very surprised the avocado hasn't browned yet. Pictured is the roll after 8 hours refrigerated. 3/5 stars for presentation alone. I'll edit this review after lunch. Edit well after lunch: Day old refrigerated OMG roll will not be on my repeat card. Fresh green onion stalks paired with raw fish just isn't familiar enough to be appetizing. I honestly tried two pieces before picking out the green onions. It left a spicy note where it was touching the rice and fish. So I ate just the fish. Put the green onions in oil and salt. Everything I've tried from here is so delicious. We loved the food and the atmosphere. The tempura and wagyu fried rice were amazing. And the staff is very kind. This is going to be our family's go to spot. read more

I ordered takeout the other night and was really impressed by the quality of the rolls. The fish was fresh and melted like butter. Even with the baked rolls, the flavor of the fish still shined through instead of being drowned in sauce. There are plenty of sushi spots around, but this one is officially our new favorite. While I didn't dine in, the decor and ambience was very nice as well. read more
