We had our bimonthly meeting here. They did accommodate us with a quieter corner which was great. Cocktails were very good, I tried the limeade and amejo old fashioned. In the tapas, the stuffed piquillo peppers was my favorite. Also liked the cheese bread without ham, and papas brava. Guacamole in chips and dip was really good. In the main entrees, they made vegetarian pasta and we also tried the veggie taco, those were disappointing, too much onion flavor; and the taco seemed dry. We tried the plantains as well, was. Ok. These were 10 out of 10. Entrees we ordered the fried seafood platter and the brisket burrito. The seafood was good lots of food. The brisket burrito was good but sort of a disappointment. Two of us arrived to inquire if they could accommodate a party of 8. We were shown to a table on the patio on a perfect evening. After several calls and texts to the rest of our party we weren't sure if we would end up with 6, 8 or 10. The waitstaff was extremely patient with us and accommodating! We ended up with the original 8, tables were pushed together. Our server, Greg P was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient. My husband and I had Yucca fries (to share with the table), asparagus, mushroom quesadilla and brisket quesadilla. Everything was delicious and huge!! Went to Toro on a Friday with friends at 5 to avoid the crowd. Ordered the meat pie, pork belly, salmon taco, stuffed chicken, and strawberry tiramisu. The Tiramisu was almost too pretty to eat. All were excellent. The only issue was seating. I went with a female friend and the hostess first tried to put us against the wall in a small two seat table. I asked for a bigger table and was offered a high top table in the bar. I also declined that. I travel a lot. I eat out a lot. I am aware of the stereotype that women don't tip, but I know how hard waitressingnis and am an over tipper. And I understand the desire to keep tables open. However, the reason for going early was to have a good dining experience. My friend and I are not bar people. We also are too big to sit at a cramped table where one of us will have our eating hand hitting a wall. The next place the hostess tried to seat us was another small two person table where the people next to us would be breathing on our food. This was my first time at Toro and in my mind I would not be back after not being given a decent table. So when she set down the menus, I moved them to a 4 person table. Remember it's 5 pm and the place was not busy. There were only 3 tables being used and there were a few people at the bar. Once I moved the menus, the hostess finally gave us a table for 4. And due to the number of dishes we ordered, we needed the extra room. Our waitress was Annie and she was excellent. It was a very pleasant dining experience. Once the seating issue got resolved, the experience got much better. I noticed a couple of African American ladies about my age had been stuffed into the small table. They came in right after us and it still wasn't busy. My friend and I left around 6:15 so that they could turn the table over and accommodate the dinner crowd. I will go back, but will probably go during the week to avoid the seating issues. read more

The cantina nachos, garlic shrimp and corn fritters were delicious. Our waiter also brought me a side of plantains which in my opinion were some of the best I've had in Kentucky. We went here because the place we had planned to go was packed and we didn't have time to wait. Great surprise! Food was fresh and plentiful! Our son got a plain cheese quesadilla and it was like four huge "pizza size" slices. And the fries were fun because it was a mix of tots, wedges, curtly, etc. The meat pie was fantastic!
