Very authentic Mexican. The shrimp tacos were the best I've ever had. I don't know what they marinate the tomatoes and shrimp in but they made the tacos taste amazing! I wouldn't recommend the chicken tacos - chicken was over cooked and lacked flavor. Wished I had just gotten another shrimp taco! read more

This place has excellent food for a reasonable price. Tried several things and my fav, the chile rellano with red sauce. Their green sauce was ok but the red pretty spectacular: dark and rich. It is not fancy and I didn't eat in. but took it to go. I got the combo in the picture once but the ala cart rellano is the way to go. If you get a chicken taco it's just chicken and cheese. Realized later I could ha e added stuff, but hey a lot of kids would like the simple style. It was tasty just plain. read more

My favorite food in Taos! my go-to when i need something fast and filling that will make me happy. I like that the food is not NEW MEXICAN per se, but more like MEXICAN MEXICAN. Also helps that there are two locations, one at the junction by KTAO station, and one on the other end of town. Staff are nice, and there's a ton of stuff to choose from: quesadillas, tamales, burritos, chimichangas, tacos, and burgers. I usually get a burrito, which is made to order (you can add beans, rice, salsa, pico de gallo, cheese, etc). My fave is the chicken mole burrito, which is medium spicy and not something you can find easily. Drinks include wine, beer, soda, juice boxes. There's a covered outdoor patio to eat at (as well as tables inside), but not much of a scenic view :) read more

Easily the best value for money in Taos. Excellent food and so cheap! Would definitely recommend the green chili and the el pastor tacos. The beef fajita plate was good as well. I'm used to Mexican food in Texas and this was very comparable. read more

We took the advice of our fellow yelpers and stopped here for breakfast. My husband had the breakfast burrito with egg, potato, and sausage smothered in red chili and it was delicious! Perhaps just a few more potatoes in the burrito would have been nice. I had the Carne Asada burrito smothered in red chili and it was awesome! Only suggestion would be more garnish searved with our burritos. We ate on the patio which was clean and inviting with pots of gorgeous flowers around us. Nice place! read more

Got a chicken enchilada... Didnt think it could be so bad. Dry, flavorless, and only filled with chicken. Asked for no beans and double rice ... Only got one serving of rice. $11 meal, maybe worth $7 Lady at the counter barely spoke English. Also had a chili relleno burrito in my order. The burrito was great and pretty cheap. Literally best place ever. I had the BEST cheese quesadilla I've ever had here as well as the yummiest Michelada. My boyfriend got the burrito and we didn't speak the whole meal we were speechless from how delicious everything was. Awesome little Mexican spot on the side of the road just north of Taos. A bit grungy looking outside but super cute inside. They even had a wall outlet where I could charge my phone and free wifi! Super friendly staff, delicious food, and pleasant environment. We got there just before a bit of a lunch rush and the food was all served in a timely manner! Not to mention all the menu items were very affordable, most under $15. If I'm ever back in the area I would go back to Toribios for sure! read more

The food was all excellent! We were looking for breakfast and found this little restaurant. We had Chilaquiles, tacos and the omelet. Everything tasted excellent, although he warned; if you ask for something hot, it will be HOT! Chef/owner was very nice and friendly as well! He definitely had a passion for his food. Food is authentic and delicious. Staff is always friendly. My favorite is barbacoa anything. My son loves his torta Cubana. Along with a large horchata or watermelon aqua fresca. Staff speaks a majority of Spanish but I like this better. It keeps most the tourist crowd away. read more

Wow, I've got tot totally agree with the other reviewer who said this place was a sleeper. Holy cow--I did not expect my food to be as fantastic as it was! It's a small place but clean and well-kept. The staff was friendly and everything on the menu looked good. I had the ground beef and bean burrito with christmas. The Al Pastor tacos are delicious! Amazing juicy red chili marinade, pineapple, sautéed and raw onion, cilantro. Ordering one pastor taco a la carte you get basically two tacos worth of meat. Ordering the plate is more expensive for the amount you get. The plain pork tacos and the fish tacos are also great and you get even more meat per taco if you order a la carte. Awesome and quick service, one of the best breakfasts we had during our 10 day stay in the earth ships. Chilaquiles were my favorite, and the $2.50 bag of pickled veggies lasted us a week at home! Great spot for vegetarians and super easy to get in and out. read more

This place is not reliable and will forget your order. I watched two other customers have their food prepared and delivered before they even started mine, then asked if I had ordered a breakfast burrito instead of what I had really ordered, a carne Assad burrito with sour cream that they charged 50 cents for. What I ended up getting was beans and meat in a tortilla. Very upset and will never recommend anyone eat there again. read more

This place was delicious extremely authentic! Everything is so full of flavor and fresh. They handmake their horchata none of that powder garbage and their bread is so fresh. Orlando's is overrated. That's New Mexican, but not traditional Mexican. Want great flavor and service? Toribio's is a casual, counter-service, authentic Mexican joint and you won't be disappointed. Smother anything in their green chili sauce and you'll wish your own mama had their recipe. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito, smothered, for $6 and it was mouthwateringly fantastic. This was my first time in Taos and I came back the next day for a steak (asada) burrito, also smothered. Delicious meat, exceptional (counter) service once again. Very disappointed after the excellent reviews. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were dry as a bone. My husband ordered steak ranchero and the steak was burnt. The service was a little slow but it's a small kitchen so that was understandable. I'll try another place for Mexican if we return to Taos. read more

I was excited to try this place with all the great reviews. Cute little roadside cafe. I ordered a quesadilla and tried a chile relleno. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of Velveeta American cheese, and both the quesadilla and the chile were filled with the salty, processed cheese. My husband had a chicken quesadilla and cheese fries--you guessed it, more Velveeta. First bad meal I've had in New Mexico. But food very plentiful and inexpensive. Very low priced meal, wonderful flavors, great location for anyone staying north of Taos. Reviews saying that the chili relleno burrito is amazing are right. In addition, we liked the tacos al pastor. Their relleno works great in a burrito because it's not crisp--also not at all greasy. Flavors are a delicate balance; interesting, complex, and not at all overpowering. Nuanced and intriguing. Might have a little cinnamon in the mix. In a week we had dinner there twice and breakfast once. Next time we visit, we'll probably have even more meals at Toribios. Very affordable. read more
