    Patio chips, guacamole & salsa

This place is great all around! A great view, so close to the mountain bike lift, high up with a view. They have lots of patio space to sit. I see they have patio warmers for the winter too! Everyone was kind & helpful. The chicken quesadillas are so cheesy & good!

We came here for a mid day ride food and drink fix. We wanted to vary it up from the on mountain dining experiences we had the past couple of days. My experience here was great. It was a sunny beautiful cool day so we were able to enjoy our food outside. Heads up - it is a counter order service vs a personal waiter. Although it was very busy I feel the line went at a decent speed. Maybe grab a drink from the shorter drink line first and enjoy as you wait in the food line. Carne Asada Burrito - the trick on this is to ask them to coat it with queso. The carne asada was nice and tender. The ratio of meat to other fillings was perfect heavy on the meat side. The queso was flavorful and I think a must for this dish. Spicy del Mar Cajun Shrimp Taco - mmm mmm good. The shrimp tasted fresh and the spicy aioli was a nice flavor with a kick here and there. Taco Al Pastor - meat was tender and the pineapple looked like fresh pineapple pieces. Caribbean Bowl Salad - not much chicken but the pieces were crunchy. This was a bit more heavy on the lettuce than toppings. Churro - genius to have this as a donut. This was straight up a churro that was shaped like a donut - not a donut that was flavored like a churro. It was nice and crisp and crunchy and flakey and buttery all at the same time. The whipped cream seemed freshly made. It was not sweet, so it was perfect to counter the sweetness of the churro. The only thing would be portion size to cost ratio felt a bit off. For sure would have expected a larger portion for the price. But honestly El Jefe had good food compared to the same price as say the overpriced average hamburger from the actual Angel Fire Resort cafes.

Awesome, quaint spot right off the mountain! Stop in for a drink or some really good tacos! Food and service were fast and friendly! What a fun time for our family!

Good margaritas, chips, queso, salsa and tacos. One taco is big enough to seem like two tacos.

What a gem to find! My husband and I saw some reviews and decided to give this a try. I out it in…read moremy maps and followed the walking directions for over 45 minutes and kept going to an empty lot. Finally we figured it had been put on the wrong side of the Main Street so we went the other way and ended up hungry and ready for a drink and dinner. The only negative is that I couldn't get a margarita other than the wine margaritas they have. Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. For dinner, we ordered the steak tampiquena and I would get it again. Savory, perfectly cooked and hearty. Check this place out if you are visiting!

The real standout, though, was the flan. It was hands down the best I've ever had: incredibly smooth, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. Friendly service, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Taos!
