Great prices and great food in a clean hole in the wall that is bright orange. Had their biscichittos which were fantastic as well as a adobada burrito and carne asada torta. Best Mexican food in Taos - a cute little mom and pop restaurant with outdoor seating that's friendly for pets. I got the shrimp taco and chicken combination plate with red sauce. The shrimp tasted so fresh and it was a big taco (could be split in 2 it came with 2 tortillas). Come got the food not the atmosphere. First time here I had to try the chilaquiles and was not disappointed. Nice spice and flavor for the red & green chili sauces and the chips were not soggy when served. Tasty, inexpensive tacos in a no frills, order at the counter joint located just down the road from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge making it a great stop for travelers. It was open late when not much in the area was. They have a nice variety of other Mexican treats also. The staff were all so friendly even when we popped in near closing time. My daughter grabbed a bag of cinnamon cookies for dessert and loved those as well. There's a gas station directly across the street so fill up if you're on the road. If you're headed in the direction of Ojo, that's the last station you'll see for awhile. read more

Hi, I visited Toribios one time. Yes, it is kind of a hole in the wall, but it is fairly big. It appeared to be clean and the worker greeted me. I thought the beans and rice were good, but the main meal, Carne Asada burrito was average. The prices were ok too. Overall, this place is just average. read more

I also had high hopes for this restaurant but I may have also ordered the wrong thing. This is more of a take out location.There were a few tables inside and outside if you wanted to grab and sit. The place has cold drinks in the fridge and I believe you order and pick up at the window and I did not see table service (which fits this place perfectly). I ordered a taco salad and should have asked what in it. The menu is short and basic and no descriptions. I should have also said no beans. The salad was good, but not really a salad. Half the shell was filled with beans, then lettuce, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. It also comes with a side if green chilies salsa and in a taco shell. It was only okay because this was like a burrito bowl with limited lettuce and tons of other ingredients. Just made for a very unhealthy, underwhelming salad and would have maybe been great without the heaps of beans. read more

There is something for everyone, even the pickiest of kids. The wide menu is omnivorously meaty, yet there are many vegetarian options. We tried this place our first night in Taos and ended up eating here 3 nights in a row. We also took some red sauce home to put on our breakfast one of the days. We are not New Mexico style Mexican food experts but we love Denver Tex Mex. This place has great food in a no nonsense family run restaurant. Over 3 nights we had the Chile Rellano, Tacos Al Pastor, Carne Asado Burrito and the Chicanrones Burrito. Everything was amazing. The red and green sauce are flavorful but not very spicy. Carne asada burrito might as well have been called refried bean burrito. I was unable to distinguish what kind of meat it was, and I grew up on a farm. Bland, brown and half the size I was expecting to be honest. Chow Cart on the south side of town is 10 times better! And ACTUALLY very friendly every time I go there. Oh. The place looks beat up a little, but stick it out, the chili relleños will curl your toes! Family owned business that really puts out great food! On the walls there are plenty of yearly awards. My thoughts, let's keep on to see about these chili relleños. Now mind you, you can't do a take out and rate a place without trying the food while it's hot and fresh. I cheated and finished my to go plate before I even left the place. But if you're getting a plate to go up in the high country to fly fish, I do recommend it. We grabbed breakfast burritos here before we headed out for a long hike and were so happy we found this place! The burritos come with potato and egg and you choose a meat to add--bacon, ham or chorizo. The staff was very friendly and the burritos were so big we ended up skipping lunch. read more
