We wanted takeout and had a difficult time finding an open restaurant in Taos. We were interested in north Taos, El Prado to be exact. When the food arrived it was still hot and very yummy. Great prices and great food in a clean hole in the wall that is bright orange. Had their biscichittos which were fantastic as well as a adobada burrito and carne asada torta. Tasty, inexpensive tacos in a no frills, order at the counter joint located just down the road from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge making it a great stop for travelers. It was open late when not much in the area was. They have a nice variety of other Mexican treats also. The staff were all so friendly even when we popped in near closing time. My daughter grabbed a bag of cinnamon cookies for dessert and loved those as well. There's a gas station directly across the street so fill up if you're on the road. If you're headed in the direction of Ojo, that's the last station you'll see for awhile. read more

The place has cold drinks in the fridge and I believe you order and pick up at the window and I did not see table service (which fits this place perfectly). I ordered a taco salad and should have asked what in it. The menu is short and basic and no descriptions. I should have also said no beans. The salad was good, but not really a salad. Half the shell was filled with beans, then lettuce, cheese, avocado, and sour cream. It also comes with a side if green chilies salsa and in a taco shell. It was only okay because this was like a burrito bowl with limited lettuce and tons of other ingredients. Just made for a very unhealthy, underwhelming salad and would have maybe been great without the heaps of beans. read more

We are not New Mexico style Mexican food experts but we love Denver Tex Mex. This place has great food in a no nonsense family run restaurant. Bland, brown and half the size I was expecting to be honest. Chow Cart on the south side of town is 10 times better! And ACTUALLY very friendly every time I go there. Oh. Fantastic! I had heard that there was a place in Taos that had a fantastic chili relleños and thought I would try this place out. Toribios, is on the north side of Taos as your heading out of town. The place looks beat up a little, but stick it out, the chili relleños will curl your toes! Family owned business that really puts out great food! On the walls there are plenty of yearly awards. My thoughts, let's keep on to see about these chili relleños. Now mind you, you can't do a take out and rate a place without trying the food while it's hot and fresh. I cheated and finished my to go plate before I even left the place. But if you're getting a plate to go up in the high country to fly fish, I do recommend it.
