I normally do not give five stars but the service here was outstanding. The food came out fresh and hot. Our waitress was very polite and professional. They greeted us with a smile. It made us Phil at home.. One of the best restaurants in, North Carolina, if not the best read more

Wow! What a great aunt of cultural eating. Freshly prepared food with authentic feel. A definite amount of food for the price and the sombreros are a great entertaining element. Smiles and warmth makes you feel like your about to be entertained with the greatest mariachi band. read more

It is where I see most of the Mexican workers here on the local home-building projects go for lunch. Of the Mexican restaurants in Roxboro, it's the best. read more

Just moved to the area & wanted to try this place since we'd already been to La Cocina. We enjoyed Toreros. We got a Mexican pizza & a fajita quesadilla and both were delicious! The service was friendly & fast. We will be back read more

My dinner today was by far the worst Mexican food I've ever had, full stop. From the burnt tortilla chips to the bland flavorless entrees, we both agreed it was terrible. The portions were large but we didn't even bother taking home the leftovers, they were just so bad. The lights were super bright and the table too close together. Add to all this the table of elderly people next to us that were cursing like sailors and a waiter who seemed like he was doing us a favor by taking our orders and the sum was a very poor experience. read more

I came to Torero's for the first time with the groom's party for a buddy's wedding. We got there around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly, the place was pretty dead! There weren't a lot of customers around which was surprising because we saw on the sign at the front of the restaurant - $2 MARGARITAS ON SATURDAY. I figured that alone would bring people in, so I was skeptical when I saw the sparse crowd. Luckily, the place turned out to be really good! The service was great - waiter came immediately to give us waters and chips. He left us momentarily so we could figure out our drink orders. He came and took those, and then did the same thing with our food. Everything came out promptly and was excellent. The fajitas were steaming when they hit the table and the sides that came with it were fresh and flavorful. You definitely got a lot of food for the price too. Side Note: The margarita was great and the queso we ordered for the chips was AWESOME. Highly recommended place! read more

Just go to La Cocina instead. Better service, better food, faster service and cheaper - all at good ole La Cocina! Have never been a fan of this place, always seems so dirty and unkept! Never been my kind of place, service is not friendly. Chips are okay, though. read more

Step inside and enter an authentic visual assault of bright Mexican colors. Reminds me a lot of the family restaurants in Phoenix. So do the tortilla chips--they're substantial and crunchy, not the fragile wisps that crumble at the mere sight of salsa. Speaking of which, the salsa is thick & chunky, and my wife says the heat grows as you eat it. The salsa would be the highlight of the meal. Between us my wife & I had a chicken burrito, chicken tostada, chile relleno, and machaca chimichanga. Everything was good, but not well-seasoned...just a bit bland. Even after topping mine with their "diabla" sauce--no real flavor or heat. Not bad--we've certainly had worse here in NC--just not great. On the plus side, the service was good and the portions huge. If you're passing through and hungry, it still beats a chain. read more

Torero's - Mexican Near Me - Roxboro, North Carolina

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out after having been to La Cocina down the road to see if it compared. Sadly, it did not. It's a very loud atmosphere with not a lot of space between the tables and the food was just ehh. I ordered shrimp fajitas and the shrimp looked like it had been boiled, not charred like it should have been on a skillet. The server didn't speak great english either, so it was kind of hard to understand. However, they did not have my favorite Coronarita on the menu, but when asked, they made it for me! Props for that! But, probably better to check out other Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

Great food, great people. One of my favorite goto places to eat. Shout out to Leilani.

Wonderful Mexican place. This place has been in Roxboro for a long time. I have always had great food and service every time I have been here for the last 10+ years at least. Their chips and salsa are excellent as well as their queso dip which my parents love. I have had their burritos, arroz con pollo, fajitas, combination plates, etc. I have loved all of them. In New York City, it is difficult to find good Mexican and so I love coming here when I come home. I think this is the best Mexican place in Roxboro and it is always our Mexican go-to. I highly recommend you giving this a try if you haven't yet. read more

Torero's - Fajita Texanas - Mexican Near Me - Roxboro, North Carolina

Not my favorite Mexican Place. Our chips were pretty well done and the salsa wasn't our favorite - not quite as chunky as we like it. However our food was good. The beef in the taco was seasoned well and tasted good. The cheese dip however was not my favorite. I do typically have higher expectations when it comes to the queso... Other than that the food was decent, service was average. Probably will try something new next time instead of returning! read more

Torero's - Ordered the chicken nachos, a beef taco with rice, and the chimichangas! As well as the cheese dip! (Chips were a little burnt) - Mexican Near Me - Roxboro, North Carolina

Just ordered nachos for pickup. so disappointing. Chips were overcooked and stale, chips on bottom were soggy. No lettuce, sour cream or guacamole, even though I asked for all of them. Even the ground beef was mushy. $9 wasted. read more

Very enjoyable experience! The salsa could use some chunks of tomato but that is just my preference. Cheese dip was nice and hot, chips are crispy and fresh tasting. The service was faster than we were! ( I was busy looking around and taking pics instead of looking at the menu). Lots of seating. Bar is small but has a good supply of liquor . Food is yum!! read more

Best Mexican in Roxboro! Portions, taste, service, and price were ALL good! I've had the enchilada plate several times and it's been perfect each time. Love the beans and my wife always enjoys here food as well. Ready for Mexican in Roxboro? THIS is the place! read more

Went to Toreros in Roxboro NC, Used to be hubbys favorite, First we have been there since Covid, food was terrible, taco was so soggie grease and water just rolled out of them , salsa was just tomato juice very little veggies in it, and chips were so broken up, looked like they were reused or what ever was left over, Orders were messed up , will not be going back any time soon, read more

Always reliable. Even let us sit down one night when we came in late. Fajitas and cheese dip is all I need in life. Great chips and salsa.

This is by far the best option in town for Mexican food. Huge, tasty portions. Friendly staff. And excellent dining atmosphere.

Service was slow and food was terrible. Fajitas tasted odd and was not hot. Plates should come out sizzling. The chili poppers I got were over cooked and had a freezer burnt taste. They used to be a good place to go and now the quality is low. read more

This place is like my second home. The staff are great and have always been super friendly. The fajitas are the best I've had anywhere across the US. The salsa is chunky and has the perfect amount of cilantro. Their cheese dip is just right. My first place to go when I'm hungry. Lunch is super reasonable and the portion sizes are massive! I recommend this place to any of my friends from out of town. read more

Great lunch today - good carnitas and taquitos and the refritos were great (just needed a little salt). Salsa was thin and deep red, which in my experience isn't a positive sign, but it was actually subtly delicious. Best iced tea I can imagine and my glass was kept full. Argue authenticity all you want (we've eaten a lot of Mexican food in Arizona and Sonora) but this was perfectly fine. read more

I just moved to Roxboro from Phoenix, Arizona and one of the first things i looked for when I got here in regards to restaurants was a good authentix Mexican restaurant. I definately found it with Torreros. Staff is extremely friendly. Food is always fresh and hot. Enjoy! read more

Really good food with a great variety on the menu! Staff is super and very nice people.

Well, it's dinner time and I have a taste for Mexican food. Torero's Mexican Restaurant is the place tonight. First impressions were that the place seemed nice and clean. I was seated at a booth and the lady quickly brought chips and salsa which ended up being lackluster. My experience with chips and salsa is usually positive at most Mexican restaurants so I was caught off guard at the runniness and lack of flavor of this salsa. My waiter Salvador was very quick and to the point. No small talk with this hombre as he took my drink order, quickly brought it, then disappeared before I could thank him. I don't think he even stopped. Later he returned to take my order then quickly disappeared again. I ordered Tacos Al Carbón with Steak. I found myself needing another beer but Salvador was nowhere to be found. When he returned to the table with my food, and before he ran away again, I managed to grab him for another beer. The place wasn't busy at all so I'm not sure what his rush was, I kind of think he is into quantity of service and not quality. The tacos were decent but I can't speak well for the rest of the meal. The rice was so clearly not fresh and the beans needed to be re-refried with some flavor added this time. The salt, pepper, and tapatio was definitely needed on this plate. I'm not sure how many Mexican joints are in Roxboro but I've been to 3 and there is clearly one that stands out from the rest. Nos vemos en La Veracruzana read more

I have eaten at Torero's about once a week for years. Last night I was there again. I ordered a tamale beans and rice. When my order came there was no rice on the plate. The server said "we are out of rice". When I went to check out I expected a discount for 1/3 of the meal not served but no, I was charged the full price and told "that is the way it is". Roxboro has another Mexican restaurant. Think the way it is, is a time for a change. read more

I ordered out from Torero's twice. Back in August of 2018 it was very good. I just ordered at the end of December 2018, it wasn't good. Nobody was happy with what they ordered. We ordered 6 dinners and two extra dips and only got one bag of tortillas which I thought was stingy. I will probably order again, hoping this was just a busy time and the next time will be better. read more

I could seriously eat here every day! They have me so spoiled all other Mexican restaurants just aren't the same! I walk in and they know what I'm going to order ! The staff is amazing, and make you feel like family, I could never get third of It! When I need comfort food, this is where I go! LOVE THEM! read more

Food was almost unedible, service was slow and there was only one other group of people eating. Worst Mexican food I've ever eaten.

Great service. Food is good, with large portions for the money. Salsa is ok if you like it thin, but tasty nonetheless.

Best Mexican food in Roxboro. Service is fast, wait staff is friendly. Food is really good and tasty. They made a big deal for my daughters birthday, even shoving some whipped cream in her face. (It was a little bit and she loved it) She was even given a sombrero to wear! read more

We've been eating here for years. We love the pollo la crema, macho burrito, and the chicken chimichanga . Best place to eat in Roxboro!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant & there are several good ones within a reasonable driving distance from my home. I have been coming here for years & never been disappointed. The fresh made salsa for the chips is really good. It sometimes has a little more heat or cilantro than others, I guess it depends on who made it. The place is often very busy & the service is always fast & efficient. The menu is extensive & includes most any dish you could imagine. I am not much of a drinker but I do sometimes enjoy a frozen margarita or two. Prices are good & the place is always squeaky clean. The decor is nice too. Not much more you could ask for. read more

Yummm you have got to try the Mexican pizza this is the only resturant in town that serves it! Its awesome

Gross food. I'm never going back. My husband's chicken quesadilla was so greasy it was wet and not edible and the chicken was tough and disgusting. The cheese enchiladas that I ordered were also wet and nasty. Everything was bland and unappealing. If you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Roxboro, do yourself a favor and just go across the street to La Cocina. We usually go there and tried this place to see what it was like and I left feeling like we had wasted our money on crap food. read more

YES eat here. I've enjoyed every meal here for at least 17 years. Generous portions would be an understatement!
