I was starving and had had a long day so when I sped down to Browns Bay to grab some dinner I was…read morein no mood for a tedious wait. I pulled up to this fish and chip shop incredibly eager for my burger and saw that it was absolutely packed. There must have been about 15 people squeezed inside waiting for their order. I considered calling it quits and heading somewhere else but decided to wait it out. Surprisingly, the wait was only about 15 minutes, which I thought was very well done on the shop's behalf! My order of a piece of fish, chips, a Hawaiian burger and four won tons came to only $15! And it all tasted reasonably good apart from the won tons, which were more on the average side of things. Apart from that it was A-OK.

It's a half block back from the beach front, so you can get your fish and chips and burger and spud fritters and squid rings and enjoy take them down to the beach which is a nice minutes walk away. It seems I'm not the only person that likes to indulge this pleasure, so it's invariably full with a big long line- it's what you get with perfect locations - but hey, perfect excuse for an evening walk while you wait!

First visit here…read more.. Staff genuinely look downtrodden... And I reckon I know why. Chubby Indian dude in the 'I'm the boss' style shirt kicks of proceedings with getting our order wrong, with a look on his face like he soiled himself. This guy has all the service skills of a Thalidomide tennis player. Watched him (what looked like) telling his staff off for no apparent reason... Probably because of his own mistakes. Or maybe that's just how he generally speaks to them. Staff seem to be doing a good job, and the place is clean. Probably because there's bugger all people here due to not wanting to get served by Mr Grumblehead. Asked for a Chicken tequila burger but with a spicy fillet. Him: "We only do one or the other" Me: "Can't you just put a spicy fillet in it mate?" Him: "Uh, yea" Me: "Well that's what I asked for man, pretty simple!" Keep the Staff. Ditch the wanna be Boss and this place would be worth a couple more stars.

I visited Wendys at Whangaparaoa on Monday 13.8.18. Once again I got the foreign sounding woman…read more(who keeps well out of sight) and asked for my usual order:- A five dollar 50 value meal beef please with Sprite for the drink and a seniors black coffee. I recognized the female voice as the one who gives me a chicken burger instead of beef, but wrapped in a beef printed wrapping. She did this again on Monday, but this time wrapped it in a reused scrunched up beef wrapping paper out of the rubbish bin. She always puts the burger on its side in the bag. On an earlier occasion a dark chap with poor English had a problem with giving me the free coffee for pensioners. He didn't use the coffee machine which I can see through the drive through window, but poured me cup of cold slops served in a dirty cup from the rubbish bin with dried stains down it. I have heard the dark skinned so called manager complaining that they don't make any profit out of me, so he clearly resents giving me the free coffee that is Wendy's policy. Complaints are never responded to, so obviously the manager or owner doesn't care or has no management skills. Betty Robb

I am so stoked I found this place, tucked away in a corner of the Westfield mall in Albany. I can…read morenow have a proper English roast dinner any day of the week and given to me in a matter of seconds. Heaven! Yorkshire Roasts have everything you could want out of a roast place: a great selection of meats, crispy, golden roast potatoes, kumara and some of the nicest gravy I've tasted! The prices range from a small meal for $9, a medium one for $11 and a large for $15, so it's really great if you want a meal at lunchtime but don't want to be overly full, or just depending on the size of your appetite. For me though, the best part is the Yorkshire puddings. I'm obsessed with their battery goodness, and these ones could rival my mums in terms of size and flavour. They also have roast meat sandwiches if you don't want a full meal (but I always do!) and their extras start at around 70c, so it's really good value.

I love a good roast. And I love that this roast shop is right next to the sushi place. I mean…read morehonestly, the sushi just can't compete with the amazingly good roasts at the Yorksire Roast shop. It's perfect on a wintery night when you're craving a hearty meal but have no intentions of getting in the kitchen. They're dripping with gravy, flavour and crackling. It's enough to cause an early death I know but I love it every now and again. They also have loads of yummy potatoes, pumpkin and peas that are actually swallowable. And of course who could forget the delicious treat they're named after, the beloved Yorkshire pudding. Mmmmmm. They are amazing and soak up all that gravy. Wow, I feel a lot like Homer Simpson talking about this food. But I guess if you went there, you'd understand where I'm coming from.
