I'm new to cycling and called many bike stores around Sacramento looking for a used road bike. Many shop owners were nice, but got off the phone pretty quick when I let them know my starter-size budget (about $500). However it was totally different when I called The Ride. Em got so excited because she thought she had the perfect bike for me. I came down to their shop and she was totally right. It was perfect and right at my price point. They even added in new tires, no extra charge. Em and Sean don't make you feel silly if you are new to bikes either. Ask all the questions you want. They really want their customers to be happy. I love my bike and I can't say enough good things about The Ride. They have a customer for life!!!

I met Sean who is one of the owners, and he was so nice answering all of my questions about their services and bike tune ups. He was patient and incredibly helpful, I was blown away. Having just relocated from SF which has a multitude of bike shops all over city, it was refreshing to walk into a place and not be treated like I was simply some number in line. Allow me to explain the differences. Attitude: SF= snooty, sometimes downright rude and pretentious hipsters who you know make fun of your yuppie PUBLIC bike when you drop it off for a tune up. I know it's not "cool" and heralds a hip lifestyle of riding the streets but I like it and you should respect that. The Ride= Sean was pleasant and smiled and said bring it in, we can tune it up no problem. Costs: SF= they will charge you an arm and a leg ($100+) and not tell you what the work entails. My tire was flat in a week and wanted to charge me another $100 to repair it !?!? OR they try to give you the wrong bike back that isn't yours. Seriously, it happened to me. The Ride= I haven't dropped my bike off yet but I was quoted $55 and whatever parts or extras would be run by me for approval before being charged. I'd tune my bike up more often and keep it riding better at that price! The Ride is a small locally owned business. And it's important to support such great people who only want to help their neighbors and provide excellent customer service. If they don't have it, they can order it for you or provide suggestions. I saw a GORGEOUS bike from a brand called Simcoe which looks amazing. And these guys are the only ones in the area to carry it. Sacramento seems to have a bike friendly culture, but it's attitude about biking is less pretentious and people bike because they seem to enjoy it not because it's some political statement. So go take your bike that you love and have the owners at The Ride take care of you and your happy healthy ride!

During my lunch, I've been taking my bike to various bike shops around the midtown Sacramento area to browse around and ask general cycling questions or assistance with my bike if I feel like something doesn't feel right. Overall, my experience with various shops have been just okay. I would get the feeling that because I do not have an expensive bike, that I'm looked at differently. However, with Pacos, the staff here are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. I brought my bike in with some concerns regarding my gears shifting, and Pancho took my bike onto the rack to inspect it. I was prepared to be given a diagnosis and perhaps a quote to see how much they would charge if I had them fix/adjust it for me. Instead, Pancho just took it upon himself to make these micro adjustments himself and even identified that my front derailleur was crooked and my front wheel was loose. Again, Pancho just made those adjustments himself to make sure everything was properly before I left the store. On top of that, I was not charged a dime. Totally unexpected, but highly appreciated! Fast forward to my second time coming to this shop, I was greeted by different staff. Yet, it was still the same high, friendly energy as the last time. Ayrton was there to assist and help me identify and issue I was having with my brakes. The way he spoke to me and went above and beyond to find answers he himself didn't know was much appreciated. Ayrton is a very friendly and outgoing guy and made sure I was taken care of before I left. The culture and energy of the staff here have been a fantastic experience and I highly recommend any cyclist to visit this store! Their inventory was impressive, the store is spacious and clean, and if I ever need cycling services, I am definitely coming back.

I'll add my five star review and big compliments to Jordan and Velofix for a job well done…read more Jordan came out to our house to work on three of our bikes in need of a spring tuneup for the upcoming summer season. I'd like to say we are riding new carbon frame full suspension rides but we're not - our two MTB bikes are old steel framed Rocky Mountain hardtails and an old aluminum frame Trek road bike w/12,000+ miles being passed on to my son- and needed some tuning and TLC. Jordan got all three bikes in great shape for the upcoming summer season and gave my old road bike new life for another generation. Plus another summer on the hardtails makes the wife happy versus seeing a new Pivot Switchblade in the garage.

Later, I received an email from Velofix saying the time was actually 11 AM-1 PM, but I didn't notice the change right away. On the morning of the appointment, I called Velofix to clarify, and the representative told me it was too late to adjust anything and that I should've contacted them earlier. I let it go and agreed to keep the 11-1 window, rearranging my work schedule to be available. No one showed up. At 1:30 PM, I had to call my wife to let her know, and she followed up with Velofix -- only to be told the case had been closed because the service was "out of scope." No one informed me. I was literally on the phone with them that same morning and they said nothing about not coming. This whole experience showed a complete lack of communication and disregard for people's time. I won't be using Velofix again and wouldn't recommend them.

Another great trip to REI. September 26, 2026 around 11am. I brought my mom as she was visiting to…read moreshop with me. Earlier in the day I was at my home gym using treadmill. My feet started hurting so I knew I needed some new shoes. I was here just a few weeks ago buying new Hokas for my everyday wear as my husband said I needed new shoes as they were 3 years old. I didn't think I needed new ones, but then I looked down at them and they were actually starting to fall apart. I took his advice and looked online and picked out a few pairs I liked and had them shipped to the store. When they arrived I picked them up and tried them on in the shoe section. To my dismay they didn't fit quite right. I was so sad as they were the perfect color. They were all Hoka shoes, but different styles. I went back to my go to and a exact replacement of my current Hoka, the Clifton. I had the 9 and now they have the 11 so I tried them on and they fit, but didn't have the color I wanted. So I proceeded to try on other brands of shoes that I liked the color better. They didn't feel as good as the Cliftons so I went back to the Cliftons and looked again at the color selection. I settled on the Lavender ones. Three days later I was onto Seattle with my new shoes. We walked 11 miles in 2 days and my feet were happy. I'm so glad I got the new shoes. They were much more cushy then my 3 years old Hokas. Back to today's experience. I only wear my hoka work out shoes for working out. They don't leave the house and they were purchased 3 years ago when I had planter fasciitis. It appears that over the years they had lost there fluff to so it was time to buy new ones. When we arrived in the shoe department we were met instantly by a friendly face. The same associate that helped me last time. He showed me to the Hoka collection they had. I didn't like any of the color choices. I had the best of them already and wanted something different. He said he may have another color in back that just arrived. He went back and poked around and pulled them out and brought them out. I looked at them and knew they were the ones. They are part of their GLM special edition line. The G is for Glimmer. Oh, are they spectacular. They are a shimmering pink and lavender. I couldn't have asked for something more. I bought them and tried them out at home the next day on the treadmill and boy did they make a different. It's looking like I need to change my shoes very 3 years or less. I'm so glad he brought out these new shoes. I love their new line. I was really worried that I would have to wear some ill colored shoes for the next 3 years. Thank you guy in the shoe department. You're my guy. I wish I recalled your name.
