Decent company but they play games with the pricing by jacking it way up and then putting it on"sale" for a little less but still way too expensive. Plus there is less in the packages now. Instead of 64 ounces, many orange juices are now 46 ounces (look at the trickery). My pasta was 16 ounces, now 12. Some "pints" if ice cream are less than 16 ounces. Always look at the packaging net weight, especially what it was and is now, ouch! Maybe Tops should not stock products that try to sneak 25-30% less in the packages past the customer, hoping you don't realize or remember. Some long lines due to few cashiers or checkouts open. Some products are sold past the best buy date, always check this on the package. Prices are way too high with fake "sale" prices that are above the regular retail price. Too many self-checkouts are closed for no good reason. Manufacturers are putting less in the package. Tropicana orange juice was 64 ounces, now 46 ounces. Look how they try to trick you! Got exactly what we needed. Staff was very helpful. People at check out were awesome, when we brought our purchases to the register the prices were not on one of our items. The employees work quickly and cooperated with each other to solve our issues! read more

I honestly don't know why the rating is so low. (Actually, I *do* know: see below.) This is a large, clean grocery store with a wide selection and decent prices, close to our hotel, and we picked up a range of needful things. Were this chain in our area, I'd be happy to patronize it. Now. Look over the other reviews. It's plain that a lot of people are shocked and horrified that there are Black! People! patronizing this place. Now I was raised in a vanilla area, but gosh, I wasn't driven to distraction by running into rude or loud white people, and I'm not driven to distraction when those rude/loud people happen to be non-white. I have no idea why this market has received such poor reviews. We are staying close by in an Airbnb. I didn't want to drive the 3 miles to Wegmans. We only needed a few items so I opted for Tops. I went to the Tops on Portage road expecting a small, dirty, and darkly lit market based on the reviews. Instead I found a large, clean market with a broad selection and friendly helpful staff. This location has come along way. The remodel was very much needed and it makes the place alot more brighter and very clean. The layout of the store is very functional. As with anything prices at Tops have risen, so they are no longer that much cheaper than Wegmans. Produce, and the meat department is good. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. There is always a weird smell throughout the store. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in forever. Checkout lines are always way too long. Each time I go here, there's inevitably a man or woman yelling at their children for misbehaving. Shelves are often barren or nearly empty. I've been nearly accosted by a pan handlers on more than one occasion. My most recent trip here was beyond ridiculous. There were only 2 or 3 registers open. Walked to the self checkout, and waited in line another 10 minutes. Poor customer service. read more

I don't get a good feeling shopping here. I try to avoid it whenever possible, but sometime's I'm in the area and HAVE to run here for whatever reason. This store has bailed me out a few times. I was cooking some pasta and didn't have any Alfredo sauce, so I drove there and back to my girlfriend's house in a few minutes flat. Nice. Maybe it's not so bad. Here are the positives: a) it's here. b) it has a better selection than a convenience store. c) it's priced better than convenience stores. Unfortunately, that's about all there is positive to say. The selection is poor, the store feels a little grimy and service isn't all that nice. However, if you have to shop here for whatever reason for a few items, it's not so bad. We walked several blocks from our rental to get here and the reviews it's received made us a little on edge about it, but it was an otherwise normal grocery shopping experience. This location features empty shelves, over-priced items, and cashiers who refuse to cash out customers. Good luck with the do-it-yourself registers those are either closed or malfunctioning. "Ghetto Tops" is what people call it and it's a nickname well deserved. Went there recently and witnessed a shouting match in the parking lot between two women on my way out after being inside where I witnessed a shouting match that turned into an assault at the service desk because an older man decided he wanted to be a "Karen" and confront another customer who wasn't wearing one and either take pics or video with his phone. The situation escalated with the maskless younger customer shouting to the other man to mind his own business and put away the phone. Then things got physical. The maskless customer ended up slapping the other man's phone out off his hand and knocking it to the ground. Security walked over. Other bystanders started stomping on the phone. The older man ended up on the ground. My child was upset from what we saw. read more

This is the worst grocery store in the Falls try to avoid it and go to the one I Niagara Falls Boulevard I've literally gone in there and found shit on the bathroom floor and there's never any toilet paper in the restroom. Another instance is a girl named Jamie who is working the self checkout counter will make you literally wait in the line of the self check-out line just to cash in tickets for cans and bottles where all the other girls will just take your tickets right there at the register but she's something special I guess because she gets a kick out of telling you to stand in line however you also had the guy Bob who used to work at the gas station telling me he was a police officer so-called and that he was going to have the Niagara Falls police beat my ass because they're pump malfunctioned and got gas all over my truck and I complained about it. That place is a definite downfall where you have people at both doors as you walk in or you walk out on either side asking you for $0.80 that's just sad plus they got security officers that just sit around and do nothing it's a pretty bad place so my advice is to go to Savers on Pine or just go to the tops on Niagara Falls Boulevard because even if you complain to the manager he don't give a shit because I already did that. if i could i would give this place negative stars. there is nothing TOP about this place. perhaps TOP places not to shop. the floors were dirty and grimey. shelves were not stocked properly. the staff were poorly dressed and just walking around not smiling or offering help. i asked one girl at the self check out stand for assistance in helping to see if there was more thera-flu in the back as there was no more on the shelf - she said she'll be right with me. i waited 5 minutes as she continued to stand there staring at her computer screen. so i asked again - hey can you help me? she said what do u need? i told her again - looking for thera flu. she said give me one minute and i'll call and find out. so i walked around grabbing a few more items and came back - hey were u able to find out? and she said - find out what? i tell her for a THIRD time and she said - oh i totally forgot all about you. give me a minute. so i gave up and went to another check stand to ask for help. i asked the girl who was the Lead Service - can you help me find 5 boxes of theraflu? theres none left on the shelf. and she rolled her eyes and stared at me for a few seconds and said - no there's none left. as if she knew the inventory off the top of her head. rude staff - dirty dirty place. read more

This place is truly unsettling. I've been to many Tops stores before but never to one that looked like the setting of a horror movie. To begin with, when I went to this location I was harassed for money by a shady person in the parking lot. Inside, it's an abandoned ghost town. The produce looks like it's been picked out of the garbage. In fact, the entire store is unsanitary. The only employees I saw were the miserable cashiers on the front end. My cashier was rude and slow which would have made me upset if she didn't look like her soul had left her body. I feel so bad for anyone who works here, it appears, against their will. Basically, I wouldn't go here unless you want to be haunted by the memories of this place for eternity. read more
