This is the WORST Tops store I have ever been in. Every time I go there I vow I will never return. Well they had their "Grand Re-Opening" so with groceries being as expensive as they are right now I figured what would it hurt to grab a couple of their dills. Boy was I wrong. Ripped me off for $8.99, Philly steak BO/GO Advertise eggs for 77¢ there weren't any. Maga packs burger on sale for $4.99 there weren't any. Walked every isle in the store asked some ladys giving booz samples (could not find one single worker on the floor) if they knew where the jelly was. She looked at her phone app. She said jelly isle 6, Nope no jelly. read more

After catching the sunset, we stopped here to get some needed items. While searching the store, we heard a crash then saw a few UNbroken glass bottles rolling toward us on the floor. Apparently a big cart of boxes of items to refill the shelves had hit an aisle box. First, we heard nothing. Within a few second however, we heard laughing, then "let me take a picture!". Here we have store employees hitting their cart in the aisles, not caring what had happened and JOKiNG about their on-the-job mishap! I know you need employees BUT you don't need people working in your stores who have the common sense of a teenager, and the mind and reaction of a 3 year old! When I looked around the corner, they were giggling and laughing like kids, trying to clean the mess of the broken glass and its contents all over. Nothing warned customers to keep away, and nothing was placed there afterwards of any caution of a wet floor. The way those two employees were smiling and laughing, you'd think they crashed their car into a house and were only concerned of getting a picture of the scene before they ran away, laughing all the way home!! read more

This Tops Market, at 150 Niagara St. in Tonawanda, is on a par with every other Tops I've shopped in Western NY. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the restroom stank, and the paper towel dispenser wasn't working, nor was one of the soap dispensers. But considering the efforts going into sanitizing the store as much as possible and keeping customers safe, I can't fault anyone. These are not normal times. And like many essential businesses that remain open during this quarantine, they are short-staffed. At one entrance to the store, an employee wipes down shopping carts with disinfectant, completely. At the other entrance are clean carts, for anyone not wanting to wait for a sanitized cart to dry. Or, as in most stores, you can help yourself to disinfectant wipes for carts and hands, which is great for the cart I wheeled in from the parking lot. I like this Tops. Tops never stops- except now it does, because they've decided to close overnight to cut costs, not that the prices reflect it. Sure, if you catch a sale, or meal deal, kudos to you, but you gotta work to stretch your dollar. Good news, they'll double your coupon up to 99cents, or even a dollar if you happen to spend 20 dollars during the right ad week, which tends to be a tedious process. Their clearance section is a generous size, tucked in by the pharmacy, and with a teeny cooler over by the dairy department. The employees are a good bunch, and it is conveniently located on the river, but Tops may be a bit of a misnomer. Mediocres more like it. read more

If this were Tips, it'd be Yelp and I'd be "First To Tip." Actually probably second, but that's another story. This tops also is not my favorite. I like that it's open anytime, but I don't like the produce selection. Sometimes they have good kale and oranges but that's about it. The prices are way too high. They have bugs in their own brand bakery bread twice in a row!!! They are price fixing and price gouging plant based and vegan products. They are in violation of state a federal laws, missing prices under products and incorrect prices under products. The highest food and beverages prices in the grocery industry! read more

Fine location. I'm not a fan of Tops in general, but this store is just as nice as any other. I've been shopping at Tops my whole life, and prices always seem to be consistently higher than at Wegmans. They do have quite a few sale items, but those prices tend to be competitors' everyday prices. I recommend just buying stuff that is on sale if you're on a budget. Tops has recently tried to draw people to their store with a Monopoly game, where you collect tickets each time that you shop in order to win prizes. Any time that you need a gimmick to get people to shop at your grocery store, you know there is a problem. Game is fun enough, but I'd still rather shop elsewhere. The store was actually much cleaner than I remember as a child. We used to chant in response to their slogan that Tops never stops, saving you more... that "Tops never mops, look at the floor." The addition of Trader Joes in the area is going to throw this chain of grocery stores into a tizzy when it opens. read more

This store really needs an update. Small deli, and the selection is small too. Generally out of sanitizing wipes out front, but has sanitizer dispensers. Store has a hard time keeping sale items in stock. They also don't have sale prices marked if you go Sunday mornings. This store doesn't compare to their other stores which are generally stocked and updated. read more

Just was at tops picking up a few things and headed to the self scanner. I was having some trouble at check out and the lady working the self scanner was no help. She was buried in her phone and if she looked up for a second she would have seen me struggling with the scanner. Very unprofessional she was wearing a almost comic book jacket. I had to work through my problem myself which took me some time and she never looked once up from her phone to ask me even if I needed help. read more

I wish I could give negative stars here, but 1 star will have to do. I thought the grocery stores in Philadelphia were awful, but they are a shopper's paradise compared to this Tops location. 1. Their selection is absolutely Awful! They have about 1/10th of the selection of Wegmans. Of the few things they do actually carry, about 1/3 of them are out of stock at any given time. Terrible beer selection (unless you like Budweiser and Sam Adams), which is made worse by the fact that they refuse to accept any bottles/cans for deposit return unless it is something they sell, which leaves about 8 different brands you can return there. Finally, The "organic/natural" section is ridiculous. About 1/8th the size of Wegmans'. 2. Their produce section is a joke. A produce section is one of the most important parts of a grocery store, and this location's produce section is about 10x10 feet. Unless you are looking for apples, oranges, or carrots, odds are you are not going to find any fruits or vegetables you are looking for. 3. Their bulk section is disgusting. I went to this location the night I arrived back in Buffalo (2 days before Thanksgiving) and found about 90% of the bulk section either empty or completely stale. As of yesterday (January 9th), nothing had changed in the entire bulk section. Not a single bin had been changed or refilled. How can a grocery store Possibly be so oblivious/careless/stupid as to completely ignore an entire section of the store!! 4. The rest of the store seems like it is restocked once a month. I have been looking for a few certain items every time I go, and they have been out of stock for over a month. 5. The employees are practically non-existent. Good luck finding an employee throughout the store to answer any questions you may have. I have NEVER once seen an employee walking throughout the aisles available to assist a customer. 6. Lastly, the store in general is just dirty. The floors are always muddy and dirty. The shelves are always messy and unorganized. The whole store has a very gross, dark, dirty vibe to it.Not to mention that a good portion of the products in this store are either expired, or very nearly expired. I only ever go here because it is 2 blocks from me, and I only ever go when I need to simply grab one or two things out of convenience (typically they don't even have one of the two things I need!), but I will NEVER do my weekly grocery shopping at this location. I will stick to Tops on Delaware, or Wegmans for my main grocery trips. Long story short, stay away from this Tops location if you are able to make it to ANY other grocery store in the area. I go to the Tops at Delaware/Sheridan only because I live so close..the place is shabby..I wonder why the tops on Maple Road is so much better?? Anyway, the produce is terrible, I suggest strongly when buying berries look at the bottom of the container...I have found mold on blueberries! Not enough small shopping carts. A great neighborhood market. Everything is always fresh and the area is kept clean and organized. The staff is friendly and I have noticed that many have been there a long time. We live closer to other Tops markets but this market is a "pit stop" for when we are in the area and need a few things, it never disappoints. read more

Perhaps one of the worst bunch of employees I've ever encountered. The only saving grace has to be the professionalism of the pharmacy employees. Other than that, it's a big step below any Walmart, anywhere. You're immediately greeted with a scowl on most faces and the attitude problems only worsen at the check out. It seems they get all the employees with the worst social skills available to do the most important job of any business. I can't count how many times I've had my change thrown back at me by one of these misanthropes, as if you are an inconvenience to be dealt with and keeping them from doing something better. Even though I do the majority of my shopping 7 miles away at Wegman's, I come here for a few convenience items because they're close by. And every time I go in , I'm reminded why I go out of my way to grocery shop. If it isn't the in-store experience, then it's having to run the gauntlet of workers taking their smoke breaks near the entrance. Nothing's more reassuring than knowing that some of these hands will be slicing your lunch meat. Yum! Wegman's may be 10% higher on some of their items, but the experience is 100 times better. At least every time I leave there, I don't feel like I need a shower. read more
