I usually do not make reviews but i've been very upset over my visit to tops in alden. Walked in immediately overwhelmed with people, store was a mess; everything was very unorganized and all over the place. Went to the bread isle and picked up a moldy one?? Disgusting. Went to checkout and only two lanes were open and the lines were overflowing into the isles as the manager just sat on her phone. Waited around 30 minutes to even checkout. As i was waiting i overhead one of the managers with dark hair older looking crap talk her employees. Calling one fat and a bitch. Absolutely disgusting and so unprofessional . Tried to get help at the self checkout and one blonde bigger girl looked at me and rolled her eyes as she came over. This place is disgusted and a mess. will never be returning. read more

Not to be confused with Toupes, which I'll need to wear soon. Sigh. I don't like tops to begin with because they are really expensive. They do have some good produce like oranges and kale, but it depends on the time of year. This store has a smaller selection than I need and is not one of my favorites. read more

Steven at register 1 today went out of his way to contact me about leaving my license at the location. Personally called me numerous times and left a voicemail. I promptly returned to grab it back and intended to purchase him a gift card for his thoughtfulness. He refused and settled with a handshake. What a fine young man to have the morals not seen by many in this day and age. Props to him and he should be recognized as such. The Broadway Lancaster/Depew Tops is a bit closer to us but we tend to go to the Alden location because they have Flash Foods available and the employees are very helpful at this locations. If you don't know what Flash Foods is, look it up with my link and download the app (https://flasfood.app.link/ATNKlylx4hb). You can save a ton of money on foods nearing the best buy date. We use it at least once a week and the only stores currently participating are Tops. read more

This Tops is the closest grocery store to my house, but as much as I can help it, I try to avoid it. I will drive further away to go to Wegmans, or if I have to choose Tops, I'd rather the location in East Aurora or Depew. This Tops is just pathetic. They have such a ridiculously minimal selection of products that usually we can't find half of the items on our lists. Their bulk section is a joke, produce is lackluster and overpriced, as is much of what they carry. On numerous occasions I have found many of the same items cheaper at a different Tops location. On one particular visit recently, my mom and I stopped to get dinner for the next day, and since it was late at night (after midnight), the only choice for cashing out was the self-checkout. They had one cashier up front but she was only manning the self-checkout podium. We had a CART FULL OF GROCERIES that we had to unload and bag ourselves, which, if you have ever used a self checkout before, you'll know that this can be obnoxious even with a few things. A few of the items we were buying weren't ringing up at the correct price, and the cashier had we walk her over to where I got the item, just to say "huh, I don't know" She didn't offer to adjust the price (for two things the difference was a total of four dollars), or check with a manager. We ended up saying we didn't want the items. Overall, I would suggest that people just avoid this Tops unless absolutely necessary. read more

Called the second shift store manager to express my deep concern over them selling rancid meat. Manager was very polite and said he will check the department immediately. Note that this should be a continual procedure to keep an eye on meet. Just went their tonight and all meat was fresh, seems they took it seriously. I will keep an eye on this. Hope they maintain their health standards going forward. read more

Everyone I know who lives in Darien or Alden avoids this place and goes to Lancaster or other areas away from home to avoid tops, I came here about a month ago what happened to capitans choice? Did that area close? And for some reason all the milk was marked off and about to expire all the produce in the misting area looked rotten. Alden needs a wegmans! TOPS is overpriced for produce and food that is from the delli to rot in 2 days! Nothing is ever fresh its just garbage! I hope TOPS goes out of buisenes or chainges pronto but I don't see it getting better ever! read more

Every single time I shop at Tops in Alden, there are two to three employees at the self-check registers. They openly mock people. Not one or two employees, but almost all of them. They watch, comment, roll their eyes and make snide remarks. Last time I was there, they called over to another employee working at a regular register and asked, "Ready to quit yet?" What the actual hell? Today, they had an employee stationed at the exit door behind the registers, selling hot dogs. The other staff were teasing her and then gossiping about her. This is the worst Tops anywhere. Three guys were standing around near the meat cases with clearly nothing to do and no ambition to look for something. The best staff here lately are the guys who get the shopping carts. Save A Lot has much better caliber of staff, hell so does Dollar General and Dollar Tree. Seriously, Alden Tops? You should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

My husband just picked up 2 fish fries. It was horrible!! The fish was over cooked and thin and tasted awful!! The coleslaw was just chopped up cabbage and a little bit of carrots...no coleslaw dressing! My husbands twice baked potato tasted like paste and dry definitely not a baked potato!! Seriously your employees would sell that garbage to someone? I think the supervisors better do some supervising!! read more

Worst store ever! Produce is horrible, deli associates ignore the customers, store never has the sale items in stock. The manager is unfriendly and not helpful. The cashiers do not know how to pack groceries and if you don't watch your receipt the cashiers do not scan all your coupons. I will drive an extra 30 minutes to the Tops in Lancaster from now on. read more

Horrible.... went I to grab a case of beer at 10:30 on a Saturday night and the only checkouts were the self service ones, when I scanned the beer I needed to show the attendant my ID and there was no one there, waited 5 mins, still no one, so I left. First and last time ever at this tops! read more

This is a great country super market. Currently living in the city I really miss this place! Nice and quiet rarely busy! Parking is easy and close! You can get in and out very fast, and usually have what i'm looking for! read more

Went in for one item and came out with many. Although while in the store Rachel in the deli was very nice to work with. Made the mundane grocery shopping not so bad of an experience. Also Brandon at the registers was pleasingly nice as well. Kudos to the great customer service. read more
