Prices are a bit higher than Wegman's, but Tops is union, so I hope employees are paid more and get better benefits. I prefer to shop at union stores as my union has done so much for me, and all workers. There's always plenty of employees on the floor if you can't find something, plenty of cash registers open. They've redecorated the Lockport store, put in a Starbucks at the front. But there's no place near the coffee bar to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee! read more

Ever since corporate took over the Tops in Lockport the prices have sky rocketed it's terrible. I use to shop there once a week but not anymore it's to expensive. They have discontinued so many items and they are always out of sale items. My biggest complaint is the registers, they only have 1 register opened and 1 express reg and that's it!!! I do not work for tops so I am NOT cashing myself out! I have been shopping at this tops for over 30 yrs and they have lost my business now. I can't stand going shopping seeing 20 empty registers and only 1 opened. And it's sad to see all the associates looking so unhappy now. Haven't heard any good things about the new manager there which is most likely the problem. read more

The people at the pharmacy are rude. They messed up my prescription pickup, give two items and did not give the other two, when I contacted them to ask about the other two, the guy had an attitude and was dismissive of me, he went as far as hanging up the phone. I tried calling, they refused to pick up. I hope their phone calls are being recorded and monitored because this behavior is unprofessional. They sell pants, they sell socks, they even sell underwear. BUT THEY DON'T SELL TOPS. TALK ABOUT FALSE ADVERTISING. It's not the best Tops by any stretch of the imagination (although is there such a thing?) but they did have a microwave on offer (not for sale, but for cafe use), so I was able to warm up what I wanted to warm up. As for shopping the fruit stuff is okay and their prices were typical. Found most of the things I needed. All in all it's not one of my favorite locations, but it's big and new looking and the cafe was helpful AF. read more

I absolutely hate the Tops on Transit in Lockport since the remodel. They have discontinued items that I have purchased for years. When they do have something I want, I can't find it. The aisles are ridiculousoly long and you can't read the aisle at the end of one aisle when at the opposite end. Every time I go there I come out frustrated and stressed out. They have advertised one bakery item several times and when you go they don't have it, so I am assuming that has also been discontinued. The prices have gone throught the roof. My husband prefers the Tops brand of milk, and admittedly they have the best donuts in town(if they aren't all gone, since they also reduced the donut section by about 50% in size). I am probably going to tell my husband to go to there once a week and get his donuts and milk and I will shop at Aldi and Walmart. He buys his meat from the butcher shop in Lockport so no loss there as far as the meet department in Tops goes. I think Tops Markets expects the shoppers in Lockport to be like the ones in Clarence and East Amherst. I heard so many shoppers look at an item in Tops and say, "No, we'll get that at Walmart, it's heaper there. Ex, same item same brand at Walmart $5.56, at Tops $7.26. They must think we are stupid. read more

Having moved to the Southtowns, I don't have a chance to visit this Top's unless I find myself back in Lockport. (We stayed with our dentist in Lockport, but that's another story.) I must point out that this Top's excels in the number of open registers, to the extent that you rarely have a long wait to check out. The ones in Depew and Orchard Park, and most likely other locations, have quite a fewer open registers and so usually do require a wait. A minor point? Not when you want to get in, shop, pay, and get out quickly. So those of you can shop here can be grateful for the abundance of cashiers and open check-outs. I imagine that the corporate office has some mathematicians who figure out the optimum number of registers to keep open at most locations. Not too many because that would cost money for employee salaries, but not so few that that is wait is so unbearable that you leave your cart and go somewhere else. And I am not kidding - the airlines have played that game for years. Anyway, not a problem at this location - at least so far. read more

Went to tops today for something for my tea, decided on a ham salad there was only 3 to chose from, so I decided on one. Got home and opened my salad put it on a plate, WOW tons of lettuce cucumber, cheese and tomatoes but only four pieces of ham, I actually weighed it 9 grams total, I won't be buying one of those again, here's a novel idea cut down on the green stuff and cheese and put a bit more ham in the container. read more

Living in Lockport is sometimes okay. We have great neighbors, there are wild turkeys in my backyard, and my husband works literally one mile from our house. Me? I've got a 400-mile commute.....but that's off-topic. Anyway, I have not really ever had a problem with this Tops. They usually have what I need and although their selection is not as fabulous as Wegmans, and it's not as sexy or cool as Weggie's, it's been okay. UNTIL RECENTLY. Lately I've noticed what's really lacking here. It's the seafood and butcher shop areas. The seafood counter just doesn't cut it. I walked in looking for Littlenecks for paella last month and they had five. FIVE. And I had to drive into feaking Amherst to get what I needed. Tops has a pretty lame selection of the other seafoods as well, and the butcher shop is weak. So, unless I need just the basics (like bread - Tops has an impossibly large selection of breads...why so many breads?), I really think I am going to just have to suck it up and risk my life on that awful stretch of Transit Road with the drunk drivers and suicidal deer to get what I need from now on. Came here around midnight with my family, my boyfriend and i ended up getting into a predicament. while we were "arguing" what i'm assuming was a tops employee came up to us and told us to "get the fuck out" and to take our drunk selves somewhere else? we just so happened to be in the alcohol & pizza section because we were getting snacks. but the employee assumed we were drunk, while cussing at us and escorting us to the door, mind you the rest of our family is still in the store looking for food. he just kept swearing at us and calling us names. never going there again, couldn't even get what i came there for! read more

This is an impressive market that I'm not familiar with living in Boston. The decor, arrangements, and size is truly impressive and welcoming. They had a robust hot food section that had a mini restaurant feel, coupled with a Tim Hortons. They had a very impresssive selections of sweets and an entire table of rare entinmanns cakes. Tops - Will They Never Stop?!?! I cant say enough about Tops Friendly Market. They aren't as good as Wegman's, but it's OK to be #2. Just ask my sister. Ha! One thing that makes them #2 is there small carts'. Not the small ones, but the small small ones. Their not as useful as the ones' at Wegmans. There isn't a little shelf on back to put my Sunny D on it to carry. My kids' love Sunny D. It almost has juice in it! I cant see buying real juice; they just drink it up and then it's gone. Besides the high prices the management there are sooooo rude. I was cashing my WIC for my son and they had a issue with a juice I was purchasing. I showed them the booklet WIC gave me with the acceptable juices and the young man (who was just doing his job) was just telling me it's not a item they provide with WIC. I politely explain that it is a NYS program and they have to abide by the NYS guidelines of the program. Besides I get no issue with this juice at Walmart. They offered to exchange it which I kindly declined and tried to explain if I knew this was a issue I would have went to Walmart where I always do because my son refuses to drink almost all juices but the this one. And I politely asked if I could speak to the manager. He tells me "no. I'll just over ride the juice for you" which I greatly appreciated-after all this trouble..... but THEN I hear a woman's voice yelling "I DONT KNOW WHAT HER DAMN PROBLEM IS JUST TELL HER TO GET ANOTHER JUICE" and I looked over and it was the manager standing at the customer service counter talking with her coworkers and being extremely disrespectful and rude. I asked to speak with her after that rude remark and no one would let me as she walked away. I really hope this TOPS closes so we can get a Wegmans. This review is more about the carry out cafe than the store itself. We were in a pinch for dinner and I took the kids in the store to get some things to make a fast dinner because baseball practice started in 1 hour. We went to the carry out cafe and got a big bag of fried chicken and some salads. We also got some corn bread. The chicken was better than KFC! We were shocked. It was fresh and hot and it fed all of us for under $20. This may be my go to place for dinner on practice nights. We dont like to do drive thru and we like eating as a family at the dinner table. read more

I really love this location. The service is great - all the workers, from the guys stocking the shelves to the cashiers and baggers, are really helpful. Ever since they re-did the store, I have a hard time finding items / the correct aisles, but the workers are always quick to help me out. I find that at most stores (Walmart for instance) the cashiers have terrible customer service, but the cashiers at Tops are always really great. They actually make eye contact, as how my day has been or how my shopping experience was, and make small talk until the transaction is complete. The store always has everything I want - right down to the 100% All Natural, honey roasted peanut butter I really like that can be hard to find - and I always make it a point to go to them. read more

my wife and i moved here into town we used to live in wrights corner right across from the tops there. we are both special needs adult and are picly about what we buy and eat. the tops on transit seems bigger then the one we used to shop and has a lot more stuff. the one thing i don't like is if im having truble finding some thing some of the times the people working there say they dont know or its not there area so there not sure. the only realy bad experance i had was last thursday the guy in the bakery after he was done with a lady that cut in front of me walked away as if i was not there. I got so fustrated over that cuss most people do ignore people like my wife and i who are on the specturem. I am glad there open 24 hours to cuss if i need some thing late at nite I can get there. the only other thing i don't like is there over priced groucys stuff. thats why im looking forward to the super center being built. read more
