I was really disappointed with my visit today. I came in around noon and paid $49.99 for the most expensive interior + exterior package, expecting a thorough clean -- but what I got felt rushed and sloppy. The exterior got only a basic shampoo wash, and the interior barely got touched beyond power-washing the floor mats. There was no tire shine applied, no proper vacuuming of the cabin, and dust was left everywhere. It honestly looked like the staff spent most of their time hurrying cars through the bay instead of actually cleaning them. For almost $50, I expected more attention to detail -- this felt like a watered-down interior touch-up at best. I have a special place in my heart for car washes. As a kid, I loved going to the car wash with my dad. The one we went to (in Toronto) had this thing that was white with black splotches in it and it looked like a cow was falling onto the car. I loved that part. Moo! And of course who doesn't love the tricolour foam part? Only people with no souls! Lol. Anyway Tops Car Wash reminds me of the car wash I used to go to with my dad. I first learned of Tops when I just moved to Ottawa and my landlady recommended them to me. Back then one of their staff would drive your car onto the track and you'd get out, walk the length of the car wash, pay the cashier, and then get back into your car after the staff hand dried it. It's a bit different now, you drive onto the track yourself and if you're not getting the interior cleaned you can stay in your car. You pay at the entrance while sitting in your car now (drive thru style), so after the hand towel dry you can just drive away. If you're not getting the interior of your car done, you never have to get out of your car. A few things I don't like though is the track. I much prefer trackless car washes. The track is just on one side though (the driver side) so easier to align than those double track ones. I also prefer touchless car washes, because while the brushes are fun, you get a little stone or pebble in there and there's potential for scratching your car. I stopped going to this car wash for a long time because once one of my windshield wiper blades somehow got bent in the car wash o_O Truth be told, I usually go to Esso and use their touchless trackless car wash. But Tops can be fun every now and then when I'm feeling nostalgic for an old school car wash experience. Performance-wise, I don't really notice a difference between the two, my car looks equally clean. Tops is a bit more expensive, but admittedly a more fun experience ;) read more

I visited Tops Car Wash today. I paid 50 dollars to have the inside and outside of my car cleaned. When I stepped up to the car I saw that the 2 side doors front inside...were still dirty. I asked the girl sitting next to my car if she could clean them. She said NO! I then asked if I take the rag they put on the floor before you get it and do it myself. Again, the answer was NO...for what reason I can not understand!! Besides the fact the cleaning was not done properly...I was still willing to pick up the rag and do it myself...which for that price, I should not!! Poor service and poor customer relations! To Vik Dilawri- Owner of Ottawa Honda and new owner of Tops Car Wash on Richmond Rd: About a month ago as a long time customer, I brought my Buick into Tops for a wash, and briefly parked in the customer parking,, to apply some armoral to the wheels, prior to entering the wash bay. The so called manager- Rob appeared, and said to me; you can't do that here, and I explained this was to loosen the brake dust residue. He then said I must do this off their premises, which of course I had no idea why, so to add more insult to injury, I arrived today - Sept 30th for a wash, only to find that he banned my vehicle from your facility, so I exited, never to return. I strongly suggest to you, that this individual be relieved of his managerial duties, and take a crash course in human/customer relations.. read more

I paid 49.99 thinking that the outside and inside of my truck were going to be cleaned. All signs at the location indicate they did inside and outside cleaning were available but the business answering machine says they were just doing exterior washes only. Not only that we paid 5.00 extra to have the trunk cleaned and that was not done either. I completely stripped my car of any objects and was very excited to see what my husband brought home. He drove almost an hour to get to the location, and needless to say, I was pretty upset when I saw that we paid all that money plus the $ 5.00 for an exterior wash. Absolutely terrible!! my husband took the "in and out plus" package for $44.99 plus tax and literally i can go to a car wash and pay 20$ for the ultimate car wash as the inside of my truck is not any cleaner than what i brought it in! If you love your ride and it needs special attention then it's worth the drive from anywhere to bring your baby down for some TLC They offer a number of different packages but the newest option is for $40.00 a month you can get an quick exterior wash any day, plus "the works" once a week - which includes a few more goodies ($20.00 value). I just paid $61 to have my car washed and had to go out when they said it was done and asked the guy to clean the inside of the windows. He did the driver side door and ignored the other ones. Needless to say they are filthy which is why I brought the vehicle in to begin with. For $61, this was definitely not worth it! Half-assed job will never return or recommend! I paid $40 for the special tire and rim cleaning service and all that meant was an additional brush applied at the bottom edge of the automatic drive-through wash which didn't even clean off the surface dirt! The armorall treatment on the tires was hit me miss - mostly miss! They quickly vacuumed only the center of surfaces and scratched my glove compartment in their haste. They wiped the interior with "a lick and a prayer" leaving smudges and dirt on the doors and door frames. I did do a walk-about upon completion and tried to ask questions about work that looked incomplete or not done, but was hurried out with cars piling up behind me. I payed for the top monthly deal, in which they make the least amount of money on, if you go daily, which I do, so when I complained that they let a regular non-express pass customer go before me when I had been waiting 4 minutes before he showed-up they cancelled my monthly pass and told me to go FK myself; what a nice bunch of people over there!The real reason why they did that is because I am one of the few who go daily, so the second they saw an opportunity to cancel my subscription they took it! My car was disgusting, I mean DISGUSTING... brought it in for a full detail and I actually said "wow" when I got in my car. The entire service was done in 20 minutes. I have been going to this car wash for several years now, and I have the monthly pass for regular washes. I always had great service and the employees are always polite and usually cheerful. I don't know why there are complaints in yelp because in 7 years I have been coming here, each time has been a great service. My car is washed and towelled clean every single time. Very over rated. 45 bucks after tax for their top package that includes a quick sloppy wipe of the windows, and a quick wipe of the interior. Fastest 45 bucks ever spend, and it took them less that 10 minutes for them to send me on my way. There was dust still on the dash, streaks on the windows, some windows not done at all, and the vacuuming missed many spots. They are aiming for fast service, but entirely miss the mark because the job is sloppy. I'd rather take an hour and do the job myself have the interior spotless and save 45 bucks. read more

Worth the drive, no matter where you live. That's my humble opinion, as a car guy, and someone who likes to keep their car as clean as possible. After being frustrated with gas station car washes - pay $10 for a "basic wash" only to find that the car isn't clean, isn't dry, and there's still soap residue, decided to try Tops since we are in the neighborhood for other errands on weekends. Comparable to "the other place" on Catherine St, but a little less expensive. Best deal going is the unlimited wash package - $39/month gets you UNLIMITED exterior washes. You can get your car washed every day, which is what I will be doing once the snow starts to fly. And, it's a GOOD wash, and a hand towel dry after it's gone through the automated dryer. So, you know you won't have residue, or spots. Just a NICE CLEAN CAR. The regular staff is friendly, and once you start to go often enough, they remember you. Then you start to feel like you're one of the family. I LOVE that feeling, it MAKES you want to keep going back. Once a month the car gets treated to an interior clean as well. Since I already have the unlimited exterior package, the interior clean is only another $10. Worth every penny. And, you get 10% off any premium service, such as express waxing, salt stain removal from carpet, etc. Doing it yourself is cheaper, but when you consider the cost of all the associated materials, and your time (which admittedly is valuable), this place makes all the sense in the world. It was OK. Didn't get what was originally requested, and when I called to complain, was told to bring it back and they would redo, it wasn't exactly convenient but did bring it back. Derrick, the detail manager, did redo the interior, but as I had already done most of it, there wasn't much to do, but he did give it a good wipe down. I would give them another chance to get it right the first time as the service was pleasant and professional. I went for the first time today. First of all, their website indicates a car wash is a prerequisite to some of the detailing, but it's worded as if it's included. The wash is another $29 with those harsh brushes that actually ruin the finish of the car over time. What I thought was going to cost a little of $100 for 2 detailing items, I actually walked out with $150 gone from my wallet. After spending that much I expected a good job. The wheels weren't touched. There was black grime all over my metal alloy rims. The dash was full of streaks and overspray residue. The guy waxing my car put about a tablespoon of wax on his electric buffer and spread that all over the car. One tablespoon? You may as well not use any wax at all. The guy who met me at the booth was making fun of the lady behind me to his coworker. Another employee with no front teeth was doing a little silly dance by the entrance. This was the guy who took my keys and drove the car into the car wash. I felt like I was on a funny farm seeing such behavior from these employees. They shall never get another penny from me. As far as I'm concerned they ripped me off today. They overcharge greatly for the work being done - or not done I might as well say. read more

The price is very high, and when you pay $40 for a car wash you expect something really good, and the service was very fast and they did an average cleaning. They didn't clean properly inside the car and the plastic parts were all wet. They did all the service within 10 min. My wife and I went to tops carwash yesterday. We stopped at the drive through and requested a full wash inside and out and a hand wax. We asked that they pay special attention to the winter salt on the front and the dirt marks on the roof lining. Then we left. My wife picked up the car later and was met by someone who pointed out the bird dropping marks on the hood (we had already mentioned them at the drive through) so she was not surprised they had not come out. She saw the salt had gone but was not happy with the interior. The person was not very helpful and my wife who does not like confrontation paid the $149.13 left and came to pick me up. This morning she called them back and complained about the state of the car. She was told by someone who claimed to be a manager that if she wanted the inside cleaned it would be another $60 I returned to tops today to speak to management and have to say was not impressed by the response. This place is a joke. $45 for the top package and I was left with streaky windows and french fries still under my seat. To TOPS it off, I couldn't even sit in my own car when they washed it. I came earlier today with my mother. When we pulled up, we were originally told it would take an hour. We BOTH heard it. Mom confirmed everything and was then told it should take approximately 45 minutes. Again, we both heard this - all the man said was it would take approx. 45 minutes, start to finish. The man stood outside the booth and talked to us the entire time. Remember this. My mother paid and we both noticed that her car was being taken out of the line up. A bit odd, but okay. We went over to Tim's next door to have a drink and headed back over. My mom's car had barely even been touched - it was only starting to go through the car wash. My mom called them out on it and the first man who talked to her said, no, she must have misunderstood - the man at the booth had told us it would take about 45 minutes before the car was even started and they were busy. That is NOT what the booth man said. The booth man never even mentioned anything of the sort. The first man who spoke with my mother went to chat with the booth man and came back in, saying, yup, she must have misunderstood. This man then proceeded to tell her he was telling the man in the booth - at the exact moment the booth man was talking to us - that they were busy. How could he have been telling the booth man that if the man was outside his booth, talking to us. My mother complained to the manager, who said she must have misunderstood, and indirectly accused her of lying. How can two people, who both heard the same thing (and the man was speaking very clearly), misunderstand something? The men's responses were both inappropriate and unacceptable. The car was cleaned brilliantly, but it does not forgive their behaviour. I understand defending your employee - that is, if they are in the right. However, this employee was not and then lied about it. I am disgusted and unfortunately, seeing as Tops is the only car wash of its kind in Ottawa, there is nowhere really else to go. read more

Zero stars. I gave one as there was no option. The worst experience I have ever had. I used this carwash in the past with no issues. Today was a different story.... do not go there. Once my car was off the belt, the employee did not even know how to start or move my standard car. He took about a minute giggling my gears, pushing my clutch, until I opened the door concerned and notice the car was not even on. He did not know how to start my car with a standard. When I spoke to the GM about this he was rude, did not acknowledge my concerns that the clutch may be damaged nor that his employee did not know how to use a standard. He totally rejected what I experienced and accused me of trying to get a new clutch. I asked him to look at any internal videos he may have to see the difficulty the employee had. He yelled, did not give me the owners name when I asked, took a photograph of my licence plate..... very intimidating. I have filed a BB complaint. The owners need to know what is happening. Obviously the manager is not modeling customer service in front of his employees. He humiliated me in front of them. Do not go there. By the way, I service my car as per dealer maintenance schedules, I have bought an extended warranty..... I have a good job. I don't need to get a new clutch, but if they have damaged it, I just want them to take accountability for it.
