I like that it has single lanes, so you can drive in and drive out easily. I don't like the double ones where if you are the rear car and you finish before the front car, you have to pull around the car to exit. I know, first world problems, but hey, if I'm comparing gas stations, this is definitely a factor. This Esso has a Circle K convenience store in it. And this location has a really good selection of slushy flavours, like at least 6-10 different flavours. It also has a Tim Hortons in it and you can buy at the counter or you can go through the drive thru. Selection is a bit less than standalone Tim Hortons, but the convenience can't be beat. There are hand sanitizer dispensers at each pumping station. Staff are generally nice. Since this location is in Orleans, prices are generally lower than in Ottawa or places further west. I really like this Esso. I also love that you get Optimum points at Esso :)

Shell also takes Air Miles which was another reason for me to go there. I like this location because it's big, bright and clean. The staff are also nice. There's this Asian guy who works there, he's a bit soft-spoken but very friendly. We were talking about movies once while I was paying for my gas and he gave me a Scene magazine that he said he picked up recently at the movie theatre. I know that these magazines are free, but I thought it was a nice gesture. I would probably still be going to this gas station often if it wasn't for the fact that I got a discount card at Petro Canada that gives me an extra 3 cents off per litre. I look at the prices and go to the cheapest place taking the discount into account. This Shell and the Petro Canada on Innes at Lanthier are my favourite gas stations.

Pulled up to the pumps at the Shell at the corner of Innes Road and 10th Line in Orleans to put some gas in the the Highlander. Using a coupon we just got at Sobies for 4 cents off per liter so I can't pay at the pump...have to go inside!. I open the gas cap...put the nozzle in the tank and select Bronze....I wait..I wait..Nothing happens. I look at the attendant I see he is looking at me. Eventually 10 seconds or so passes and then the pump turns on and I start to put the gas in. Not 5 seconds into the fill up I hear all sorts of beeping from other unattended pumps. Not sure what that was all about and continue... Once I am finished filling the tank I put the nozzle back in the pump and immediately hear a beep... The cost of gas drops 4 cents a liter. That little bastard let me start to gas up 5 seconds before he lowers the price! I walk in pissed and ask him what the hell that was all about and he tells me..."Bad luck for you!" I gave him a few choice words and left after paying 4 cents a liter more than I should have. I for one will never gas my car again there for as long as I live!

It had steady business. I had no problem finding a free pump. I tried paying at the pump, but the authorization was declined. I tried it again and it did the same thing. It was odd. The reason why this review gets a high rating is my seeking help from the man at the convenience store attached to this gas station. I couldn't tell if it was an issue with my credit card or the pump. I asked if he could pre-approve an amount for me. We went through the process of approving $70 worth of gas on my credit card. This transaction was also denied. It proved to me that there was something weird happening with my credit card. I thanked him for his efforts troubleshooting with me. I sat in my car and called my credit card company. It is known to do fraud checks. It decided to initiate a check and put a hold on my card when I tried to pay for gas at the pump. I find my credit card company to be odd. I've been in Ottawa for a week and you now flag a gas pre-authorization on it? I got the hold taken off my credit card. I was then able to pay at the pump. I swiped my Petro-Points card to earn points, my 407 ETR card to get a discount for each litre of gas, and them my credit card to pay. It worked at long last. Woo hoo! I successfully filled my gas tank up. I was happy. It was way too much work after lunch, but I'm glad that I was still alert. It's a decent gas station. I'd return here again to fill up my car's gas tank and hope that my credit card is hold-free due to a perhaps random fraud check. (238)

I filled up my car's gas tank before I headed back home. There are plenty of pumps. The station is clean. I didn't have a chance to go into the convenience store. I already had my Starbucks beverage with me. I was good with what I had. The gas price here is standard. There are tons of parking spots if you need to run into the store or take a break before driving off to your destination. (219)

Pretty decent for such a small place. The bad: Staff could care less and cannot look customers in the eyes. That was the only bad part of it. Good selection for such a small place.
