This is the closest grocery store to me, and although it is smaller than Wegmans, I come here regularly. I can usually find almost everything on my list, including organic and vegetarian grocery items. Due to the smaller size of the store, I do also make other stops on my shopping days. The reason I am writing this review is because of the consistently exceptional customer service at this store. When I was about 8 months pregnant with twins and struggling with my shopping, a cashier noticed and made sure I had assistance walking to my car and loading it. On another occasion I was shopping with my two newborns (hubby was away on military training), and pulling my cart while pushing my stroller. Again an employee noticed and helped me. Tonight, in the midst of the Tuesday-before-Thanksgiving chaos, an employee noticed that I was looking for a specific item. After discovering the item was out of stock on the shelf, I took a substitution, thanked him, and got in line to check out. Without being asked, he checked the back, found the last boxes of Pillsbury pie crusts, found me in line, and brought them to me. This is why I keep coming back to this store. read more

I did not expec mucjh from this grocery store. Based on the reviews.. I was not disappointed. The nasty rotting smell upon entering the store told me I may be entering a 3rd world grocery store. The food is overpriced. At checkout. I bought over $50. Worth of items. The cashier was either high on weed or just the result of uncontrolled inbreeding in the Baldwinsville. NY area. She asked me what peaches were and is that a container of watermelon... Then this young *lady" asked me if I wanted to. buy paper bags to carry my groceries with. I told her .no I will make 5 trips to my car and back. Or maybe can I drive my car into your store?? SMH Nope no more Tops grocery stores for me read more

The new Top's Market is much cleaner and brighter than the old P&C. The parking lot has also be re topped and they have added a gas station where if you shop at Top's often enough you get $$ off a gallons of gas. The produce, meat and bakery departments are also much improved with quality and freshness and selection. So why only 3 stars?? One word PRICES!! By comparison on the things I buy most Top's is significantly higher priced. I have been told that their sales and coupons off set this however I am not clipper so alas the only time I shop here is for conveinence as it is the cloest grocery to my house. If I need something quick I will dash in otherwise it is Wegmans for me. read more

One star is far too high a rating. I am absolutely disgusted, shocked and appalled by the unprofessional, rude, discourteous and disrespectful treatment shown me today around 10:45 a.m. (12-Nov-16) by the deli manager and one of her subordinates at the location on Downer in Baldwinsville, NY. Both refused to wait on me today, walking away from me and purposely turning their back on me pretending as though I wasn't there because I was on the phone asking my husband what type of ham he wanted me to purchase as there are several options and I am not in the habit of memorizing the various varieties. After five minutes (I kept track) of standing at the counter having these two act as though I had accidentally donned a cloak of invisibility on my way out the door this morning, I engaged the subordinate saying "Excuse me. Do I need a number?" She replied "No, you're on your phone. I'm not waiting on you." I then asked to speak to her manager who toddled herself out from the back after the subordinate said "that was my manager" referring to the other woman that ignored me. The deli manager, who is the sorriest excuse for anyone in any sort of job even slightly resembling a managerial role that I have ever had the misfortune of encountering, shouted at me "I'm not waiting on you, you're on your phone!" Her tone, mannerisms and attitude were combative, rude, degrading and exceptionally disrespectful. I'm curious what they thought I was doing waiting my turn while they finished waiting on the two customers who were there before me and then standing there at the deli counter for what amounted to a total of 11 minutes (from the time the subordinate finished with her customer, then the manager who was the 2nd person to ignore me, waiting the 5 minutes and then being treated like a piece of garbage). As a paying customer, who contributes to the salary these two poorly trained, social grace lacking and obviously ill-supervised individuals receive, the incident was as degrading and embarrassing as it was maddening and frustrating. When I asked to speak to the store manager, whose name I later learned is Peter Ely, the deli manager said "he's somewhere over there (pointing toward the check out area). Go to the front and find him yourself." Since this is the way Mr. Ely and Tops runs a business, I wouldn't shop at that dirty, poorly-managed and anything but "Friendly Market" again if you paid me!! This place is Tops! It's very convenient and has whatever you need unless you are a hard to please dolt.

Tops is a really great place to just go and get things done!!! It has more than just food. It's also a pretty chill place. It's a VERY neat place. If I could change it, I would make it a 2 story Store with a staircase AND an elevator. It's easy to get there because it's not far! And it's easy to shop there because you know where everything is!! Tops is a really nice place. It's also the best place to go on a hot summer day. (Because of the fridges) I love how there is a wall with the fridge on it!!! It is nice. I also really love that when you go to check out, the cashiers are so friendly! I really like it and would recommend it. It's got a lot of stuff. It may be a small store, but it has a lot. I'm updating this to provide new info. Tops continues to underwhelm me with their merchandise and their employees general disdain for working there. They do appear to have upped their organic offerings since I last reviewed the store. However, I do find that I have to very diligently inspect expiration dates and look over any produce. They appear to regularly carry expired or nearly expired products, and a large portion of the produce tends to be moldy and/or shriveled. I once had to return a pork loin that I later saw had expired TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. Yuck! I think the the management needs to pay better attention to prioritizing moving product in and out of the shelving so that this isn't a constant issue at the store. I still prefer to shop at Wegmans by a long shot, but alas, this store is simply a lot closer for me. So at times, I do find myself here when I'm lazy or short on time. The one bright spot for this grocery store is the pharmacy. Tops has much better pricing than the neighboring Walgreens for prescriptions that either aren't covered by insurance or are not completely covered. read more

I live close by, but hate this store. They never have fresh bread, and if they do it's not on the shelf. Such dishonest management, just a waste of time and $$ to even bother with this store. I avoid it at any cost. It's a shame because this is a convenient location for many who live in this part of Baldwinsville. read more

I shop here regularly for the convenience, but I have been very impressed with the Bville TOPS charitable giving policy, as well. I work for a local non-profit, and we regularly get help from this store for many events. The people here are so very supportive and helpful, and they truly go above and beyond what any other store does in this community. This has made me a very loyal customer! I also appreciate the convenience, and have only once in 7 years found an expired item in my cart. I like the produce section, as it has enough variety to satisfy my needs. Good store! read more

I come here for the convenience of the location, and that's where my love affair with this supermarket begins. The produce selection is just as good if not better than Wegmans. I like that they put the organic apples high on the shelf so that the children and adults that are child-size can't reach them. The staff is very helpful and friendly, especially in the deli, where along with their friendly faces is a great selection and quality of lunch meats. While they only have one type of light cream in the dairy, how many do you actually need? Their bakery rivals that of Columbus Bakery with delicious and fairly priced rolls, croissants, etc. While their selection of prepared foods is not very extensive, what they do offer is delicious. I visit this store on almost a daily basis, and I couldn't be happier with their service, quality, prices and location.
