This is one of the smallest Wegmens in the area - possibly the smallest in the city. It has the basics, hot food and sushi bar, cheese bar, etc, but not as big a selection as the other stores. Which, isn't necessarily a bad thing because honestly I find big stores a bit frustrating anymore - I like to be in and out quickly. The parking lot of this one can be a bit crazy to navigate. I avoid it completely on peak weekend hours. Honestly I don't shop at Wegmans much in general as prices are hiking in this economy, and I just find it more convenient to go to closer stores. This is more of a "run in and grab a brand name thing quickly" kind of place. Still, convenient and nice to have this option. Staff here is generally friendly as well, and I appreciate that their checkout lines are always well-manned and move quickly. read more

This is a smaller Wegmans with an unintuitive layout because the store seems like it's retrofitted into what used to be another grocery store. While at most Wegmans you enter in the produce section, at this location the produce is in the back. Although the layout is odd, we eventually found everything we needed and the cashier was friendly and quick. read more

The workers make a women who was bothering no one leave, just holding a sign because she was in need of food and milk for her kids. Wegmans pushes away the needy well raising prices and providing lil to no alternatives to high cost groceries. They pretend to do this by labeling there products as Organic to take there generic product and over value it. The American standard for "Organic" is but only 3 insignificant regulations that doesn't justify any of them being 25%-75% more expensive. This is a moral failing of the workers that could just as easily have been in this situation themselves in this type of economic or may even be in the future if hurt on the job as medical insurance is on a decline because of the "big beautiful bill" cutting 1 trillion from Medicaid and 120 billion from SNAP read more

This store is amazing!! I wish we had one in California. I would move to the east just for this store. There are so many locally great items . Omg the mushroom section has so many choices. The first time I have seen fresh fiddleheads is in this store and if haven't eaten any you are missing out! Yum! Love this huge grocery and more store!!! read more

I love Wegmans, but this location does not do justice. I go to it because it is the closest one to me and usually has most things I want anyway. Selections are much smaller than other locations, but at least the parking lot has more than enough room. The main issue with this location is the cashiers, especially now having to use reusable bags. They aren't well trained in packing things and some cashiers made us pack our own bag. However, I've never had an issue with cleanliness in this store. read more

Starting March 4th they will close at midnight rather than be 24 hours. I came around 9:30 PM and they locked up the frozen shrimp area with locks on the freezer door. I am unsure why. I feel like their vegetable section is smaller than it is at grocery stores I am used to in California. Their flower selection is nice. They also have a wide variety of products in the cat aisle. I like that their organic/healthy foods section is large and separate. Milk is cheapest here. I haven't found milk at any other grocery stores in the area that beats the price at Wegmans. Vegetables/fruits are more expensive here than other grocery stores in the area. There were a few times they didn't have the vegetable I was looking for. I do like that they have precut deli meat/cheeses, freshly made sushi, and prepared meat specials out front. I also love their mini-sized shopping carts. read more

So we went to the James St., Wegmans. Of course anyone who is local to Syracuse know that the Wegmans brand is a five star grocery store. Bar none. If you've ever shopped at Wegmans you know what I'm saying. So they must've taken the money they wouldn't of spent on the Janesville store and put it into the Dewitt store. We are finding that many things we used to be able to get there are no longer there. But if you go to the Dewitt store they've had it on multi million dollar food preparation area which by far beats most restaurants in Syracuse. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want to shop at Wegmans and have one of the greatest supermarket experiences of your life go to Dewitt. The James St., Wegmans is just an average grocery store. They've even discontinued many of the family purchases which gives you a discount. I don't like their meats as well as Nichols, but they do have good deals at times. I don't see anybody with a little food stands. The variety of foods is not as good as Dewitt Wegmans. So if you're looking for that super supermarket that beat all that I've ever been and go to the Dewitt store. Use James st. as the back up. But you will never find a greater brand then Wegmans in my opinion way to go to Wegmans read more

This wegmans is small, and not just in SQ foot, it's also TINY in selection. I always try and do my shopping here for the week but fail because they are out of or don't carry a few things every week. This week it was lettuce, I was hoping for arugula but would have settled for a spring mix, or spinach.... hell anything. The whole product section was wiped clean. They also had no Russets! It's not a terrible store by any means but be prepared to treat it more like a corner store than a grocery store. read more

This is my favorite place to go grocery shopping. I love the James St. Wegmans. The employees are nice and always very helpful when you need it. I like that layout of the store too, it is easy for me to find everything I need. Some of their stuff is over priced compared to other stores though. The store is always clean and so is the parking lot. read more

I go to Wegmans often. On my last trip, I purchased a few steaks. However, much to my surprise, they were extremely fatty. Completely inedible. I have never had this issue before, but I am disappointed since I paid a significant amount for them. read more

I'm not sure what's happened to Wegmans (at least this Wegmans in East Syracuse). Their vegetables and fruits are at best subpar. I have bought potatoes that are soft or at least one rotten one in the bag in a day or so. The fruits too, they're not good after just a very few days. Their meats have expiration dates far beyond what is normal yet their color is perfectly fine and they don't seem to spoil in a normal amount of time. Their bulk candy used to have a great variety, not anymore. They carry less and less of name brand items. It's now buy Wegmans brand items or nothing. There's almost no choices anymore. It's apparent Wegmans used demographics to furnish their stores. Go shopping at the DeWitt store and the difference in astonishing. I've been personally told by employees if I expect to find better items and want a variety of items, go to the Fayetteville (DeWitt) store where the rich people shop. With all of this being said, I will say there are some good things too. Their milk is cheaper than anywhere else around. The employees are helpful. They have a great variety of cheese although they've cut down on the size they used to have. They have fresh seafood but again it's a very tiny case with not much of anything in it. This Wegmans was good when it first opened. Now, it's more of a store to run in and grab a few things you might be out of rather than a store to go to for your weekly grocery shopping. read more
