We just checked out today and I'm already missing the hospitality. What a great staff that help to make every minute of your stay enjoyable! The rooms are very cozy, though cozy certainly doesn't mean small. We had a full walk in closet - a woman's dream while on vacation! We did not partake in the spa services, although we heard many guests raving about them. We sat in the indoor hot tub after skiing everyday and the waterfall was absolutely amazing on the shoulders! As others have mentioned, the resort will shuttle you anywhere you want to go and promptly pick you up with nothing more than a phone call. There are many warm and inviting common areas in the hotel to curl up and read a book and the place always smells amazing with big roaring fires..really, we wish we could have canned the smell! The restaurant called Flannel is located in the Top Notch Resort in Stowe, Vermont. The ambience of this restaurant is wonderful and the food is exquisite. I had the salmon dish and my wife had the lamb chops. This was a wonderful experience, a highlight of our Vermont vacation. read more

We look forward to our Stow trip every year thanks to Topnotch! We have ben coming here since the room designs included french toile wall paper. Although it has changed over the years, we still choose to come here for the proximity to the mountain, valet option to/from slopes and town. I wish they would offer coffee in the morning and cookies and hot cocoa après ski like they did years ago but that's not a deal breaker! Clye is an AWESOME addition to the staff! read more

We stayed two nights. Extremely relaxing and enjoyable. We ate in the bar both nights. Enjoyed noshing on all the different apps and things. Just wanted to chill and relax. Great atmosphere and my husband loved the music selection of older rock, dead etc. Pretty much same prices we experienced throughout our trip to Burlington. And, Montreal was way more expensive. We really appreciated our stay. We came to hike and it was gorgeous. I would stay here again and highly recommend. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Me and my boyfriend decided to take a weekend vacation at Topnotch. I read all the reviews and we were super excited to go. When we got there we met friendly staff and were impressed by the cleanliness and the home-like feeling that it had. The heated pool and the waterfall jacuzzi were absolutely to die for, and i cannot forget to mention the view. Absolutely great weekend, until I left my white gold necklace in my room. Me and my boyfriend left super early to get home, and in our rush to leave i forgot it. As soon as I got home I called and asked them to check it for me and he said that he would talk 2 house keeping and call me back... four calls to them and no calls back and I lost my $500 dollar white gold chain. Great hotel, not so great theives... if it wasnt for that I would have loved this resort. read more

Great place but this review is about the restaraunt. In a nutshell: charging "A" prices for "C" food. Looks great but not very tasty. My wife's braised lamb was bland and I can't even remember what I had, chicken of some sort I believe. The wine was good and the view is fantastic. Utensils were dirty too. read more

Located on Mountain Road, Top Notch Resort and Spa has been newly renovated. It offers a modern open upscale feel while remaining loyal to the Stowe rustic architecture. We did not stay there, but ate at The Roost. Having vacationed in the Stowe area for ten years, I can tell you they did a great job refurbishing the resort. Entrance way is beautiful stone, as is the walkway and outdoor seating area. Both The Roost and Flannel eateries offer indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is limited but the views are spectacular. A full glass wall offers a near similar view from most locations in the indoor section in both restaurants. At dawn, large fire torches light the walkway leading past the pool and spas to the indoor pool area. There are an outdoor pool and large spa on the opposite side of the walkway from Flannel. There is a large wood fire pit at the highest point on the patio. Marshmallow roasting sticks were provided and, again the views spectacular. Didn't see the rooms, but I was told the were also updated. We toured the spa and it was as nice as any I have visited. Full service menu offers something for everyone. read more

Do not miss the Top Notch get away experience in Stowe, VT! I pride myself on finding the "it place" in any travel destination and Top Notch is it! The grounds and rooms are beautiful. The resort is next to a 10 mile bike/walking path to Stowe. What a beautiful experience to take this path to town and cross the nine picturesque bridges. Of course there is always the skiing and many, many other places to hike too. The beautiful spa was another pleasant surprise. I'm an LA Massage/Spa snob and the 2 treatments and the gorgeous facilities, the indoor pool and waterfall jacuzzi were great. I can't say enough about this place except to concur with other reviews that state the service is fantastic. Everyone who works there is helpful, friendly and professional and they quickly learn your name. I can't think of anything they could do to make you feel more comfortable. I have recommended Top Notch to several people and we will definitely come return as often as possible. read more

We booked a chill bachelorette weekend with myself and 3 women at Top Notch Resort. The resort was amazing, large, accommodating, and recommending to places in the area. The general manager, Brian, made sure that we were taken care of wether we were at the bar, in the restaurant, or just lounging by the pool. I was pleasantly surprised by everything they had to offer. A woman named Carol set us up with horse back riding and Brian's recos for food in the area were the best. I would go back to Top Notch during any season. We went in the summer but in the winter, I'm sure it's just as amazing. Most importantly, my sister the bride-to-be had the best weekend ever. I'm sad to say that I had one of the worst dining experiences here. I used to be a server at this restaurant and resort and I will never go back. On Mother's Day I made a reservation at the resorts more fine dining restaurant called Flannel. Topnotch has two restaurants. One is Flannel and the other is The Roost. When we arrived on Mother's day we were informed that Flannel was not hosting a Mother's day brunch and in fact the restaurant was closed. Even though I received a confirmation that we had made a reservation for brunch at Flannel. The Roost is a much more casual dining experience and way less intimate of a space, it is also very loud. I would not have booked a reservation if I had known The Roost is all that was available. On top of that it was a buffet style lunch not breakfast and we had no idea that it was a buffet when we made the reservation. We were not informed of the price. It ended up being $48/person which was outrageous for a buffet. Our servers only purpose was to bring us drinks from the bar if we wanted them, he stated that immediately upon greeting us. When we asked for water he told us where we could go get it ourselves. Our server did nothing and yet when we received our bill for 4 people there was 20% gratuity already included. I have fond memories of Topnotch growing up in the area and hosting a couple of my birthday parties at the pool when I was a child. I serve as a pool serve in college during the summers and worked at both restaurants years back. It's sad to see how much it has changed for the worse. I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I had a really nice weekend stay at the Top Notch in mid- February. The amenities are "top notch," the food and drinks are great, and the staff are awesome. However, all future guests should be aware that it is not the perfect place for a couples get away. It is more geared towards families with the indoor pool and ice skating rink. I felt like I was at camp and there were more kids than there were adults. Not sure we will be back for a long weekend, as we expected something a little more adult friendly. read more

We have been coming to Stowe for years and always go to the Spa at Top Notch at least once. We recently went there for the first time in the summer and WOW...this place is like heaven!! The outdoor pools are beautiful and have breathtaking views. We had our massage treatments with Richard who we always request and all I can say is he is amazing!! Between the room, restaurants, bar, and tennis club we spent roughly $1,400 in two days. Here's what we got: The bartenders aggressively tried to up-sell me and my friends. Both hot tubs and the steam room were out of order. Twice the restaurant added multiple items to our bill that we did not order. The restaurant on Friday night was so overwhelmed they forgot to send a server to our table - so after 20 minutes of sitting there we flagged a random server to take our order. They couldn't accommodate an extended check-out of even one hour. They wanted to charge my wife and me $20 each to shower in the spa "lounge" before heading to the airport. Overall it's a pretty resort with beautiful surroundings, but I would not stay here again. Stay at a smaller hotel and spend more time outside. read more

Incredible remodel! The restaurants and the team that is running them are fantastic, by far the best food in town. The Roost is a must see with it's farm to table menu, hand crafted cocktails, and bocce ball court. This is the next hot spot for locals and travelers alike. read more

Not a family place , the restaurants are sub standard and expensive, the cost per night does not justify the accommodations. The noise levels on one night where not pleasant . For the price we paid per night one would expect a cup of complimentary coffee in the lobby . You're going to pay TOP DOLLAR for Topnotch! Quite frankly it's not worth it! My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for our 20 year wedding anniversary. We paid $275 per night plus tax for an executive king room (just a room with no balcony and a nice view of the dumpster in the parking lot) After checking my credit card bill and shocked at the very high charge I called the resort and inquired about the charges. They charged a $30 resort fee per night on top of the room rate. I feel as though we were mislead and ripped off. The resort is clean, rooms are basic, and staff are nice. We enjoyed sitting outside by the pool and looking out at the mountain views outside of The Roost (the casual lounge/restaurant). Other than it's highly overpriced for what it is. We will not be returning anytime soon. Save your money! read more

Only good thing about this place is the Spa. If you're looking to relax, don't go here. Lots of kids and noisy fire doors. Overpriced too! Shower was noisy, light bulb was out, etc. Asked to switch rooms but they were "at capacity". They conveniently put us also next to the cleaning room where vacuums, etc were banging against are room all day/night. read more

My husband and I went to Stowe for a short getaway - two nights both of which we planned to stay at topnotch. We had a massages that were great, thanks Margo and Kate! I have never been disappointed with the topnotch spa. Great service and personnel. After checking in, the room was a bit disappointing. It was facing the parking lot and right next to an exit/entrance primarily used by the staff. So a dark room because you can't open the blinds unless you want to stare or be stared at by staff and cars driving in and out. I have to say I was not impressed especially considering it wasn't busy there and they should have been able to accommodate us or recommended a better room. I of course didn't ask for a switch and I regret not doing so.. I thought we could deal , how bad can it be! Well, we were woken up at 7am by staff members chatting outside our windows on and off, then 8am the construction starts...oh, yeah they were undergoing construction at this time, nice (currently)! So a bunch of banging, trucks driving in and out in front of the room...one thing I can't stand is not being able to sleep in on my break. Up by 8 and I was ready to check out early and abandon our second night stay. I approached the front desk and told the gentleman I would like to check out early because of the noise and he was not very concerned. It would have been great if he had been accommodating and suggested another room or given us a comp meal especially when you pay full price for a crappy room during a time when they are under going construction.. not so much. He took his sweet time checking me out answering phone calls and accommodating other guests, class act. Needless to say, I will not go back to stay at topnotch! Topnotch is the best in Stowe, hands down. Location, views, pools (indoor & outdoor all winter!), bar & food. And you don't have to walk a mile to get from one activity to another the way you do at Stowe Mountain Lodge or Stoweflake. But best of all is the staff! Genuinely friendly and they go out of their way to help you out. Felt like we were staying with friends. Topnotch does an excellent job of being kid-friendly but still feeling like a grown up resort. My boyfriend and I went last week.. I think next time we may stay at the Green Mountain Inn.. We stayed her because of the spa to find the prices are inflated and they add the gratuity to the bill.. also, when we checked out, they added 3 dollars to our bill, which is okay.. because it was for charity but they did not inform us, or educate us on what it was for,.. and just look the liberty of adding it to our bill. we loved our room until we looked under the bed, It was kinda gross. read more

My lady friend hosted a 2 day wedding at Top Notch last weekend for her daughter. Everything went perfectly. The accommodations (rooms and townhouses), dining, wedding planning, staff services, were all "top notch' and could not have been better. We have stayed at TN a number of times and knew , without question, that this was the perfect spot for the wedding. This was the tenth time I have stayed at this establishment. Unfortunately, with each passing year the service becomes worse and worse. You can spiff up a place on the outside but that does not make up for the poor service and attitude from staff. I long for the cozy, friendly we aim to please attitude of yesteryear. There are plenty of places to stay in town which may not be as pretty on the outside but makes you feel welcomed. The first room I slept in, the bed was so horrible I tossed and turned all night. Thankfully there was another room available which was quite nice. They charge a resort fee of $25 per day. If the pool is closed the fee should be waived. This place is just not worth the nightly fee. read more

My review is strictly limited to the day spa facility because I have not stayed at the resort as an overnight guest. That being said, the TopNotch is amazing. Yes it's pricey, but their gym, their pools, and their overall facility are impressive. Furthermore, the masseuse assigned to me was experienced and talented, and the poolside restaurant has delicious vegetarian options. I've been to many day spas and TopNotch is my 2nd favorite resort (my first is on the west coast). read more

However, we had to call several times to get additional pillows and the half and half they provided was dated and sour. Most staff very nice but had trouble getting calls back from housekeeping and concierge. Need a jump start here. Slow service in restaurants too. Beautiful location and lots of potential! read more

My family and I have been going to this place for as long as I can remember and I absolutely LOVE it!! The location is the best, the spa is AMAZING and the staff is super friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. During the ski season I love that they have a shuttle that can pick you up from the mountain. The new restaurant (blanking on the name) that just opened is SO delicious and the new outdoor pool area is great as well. Huge fan and can't wait to go back!! read more
