Bravado came out and found through their various sensors that we had water damage in the ceiling of several rooms, the water shorted out our washer/dryer, and it was underneath our flooring. We escaped without having to re-do our kitchen or bathroom but basically the whole rest of the house now needs work. They set up ten huge fans (for a one bedroom, and cut away damaged drywall, and just generally got things done. While I'm not happy about the damage or the construction zone my home now is, I'm so happy with Bravado group! They came out quickly, worked efficiently and explained everything they were doing and looking for, stopped by on a weekend to check on the drying process and adjust any fans that needed adjusting, and just generally saved us from our own optimism and the potential mold that would have come with it.

It started off well enough -- Mike and team followed the protocol provided by the independent…read moreenvironmental inspector for mold remediation to the T. They were extremely responsive to requests for adjusted formatting of invoices and scopes of work to ensure that they matched the independent environmental inspector report and therefore would be more likely to be reimbursed by insurance. With that in mind I felt that they were worth the 30-40% premium they were charging compared to other mold remediation contractors who insisted on charging a fixed price for "standard" mold remediation following exactly their company's preferred modus operandi, and whatever the environmental inspector's report said to the other companies was irrelevant to the other companies. Other companies wanted a fixed revenue for a formulaic / non-customer-specialized service -- MOD tailored their service to their specific customer's requirements. I was very grateful for that. Initially another source of comfort I had with their price premium was the clause in their contract that said that any changes to the scope of work (i.e. anything that would increase the cost) would be sent to the customer in writing (i.e. email or snail mail) and only would be done with the customer's approval in writing (i.e. signature / contract modification). But when I was scheduling the post-remediation inspection with environmental inspector with the owner again, and included some recommendations the person from the inspector company said verbally to me as part of the text message, MOD took actions based on those recommendations that incurred costs to MOD and then sent me an invoice for the full price of those actions. So none of the promised communication and transparency about work orders and price increases that was one of the reasons for selecting the company panned out in the end. The owner explained that he was disorganized and misunderstood his own contract and couldn't keep up with the paperwork and wanted to be proactive by doing the extra work. But the extra work won't be covered by insurance, i.e. I have 0% chance of reimbursement, and it wasn't even something I asked for, just the owner's interpretation of the secondhand description of the environmental inspector's recommendations, not to mention not included in the original contract. The owner negotiated the price for the additional work down a lot from what it apparently cost the company, and I can appreciate that, but the proper procedure was to notify me of a change request in writing, and to refuse to do any additional work, especially work that costs money to the company, without the customer's signature. As the customer, it's not my responsibility (nor even my ability) to manage MOD's business for them and ensure that they maintain positive revenue and only tkae on requests that are reasonable, etc. That's the company's job. So although they did a good job with the mold remediation, because they followed the inspector report's instructions to a T, they also did unwanted additional work. I wouldn't trust the company with any projects that are substantially more complicated or where the scope of work would need to be repeatedly renegotiated -- most people don't have infinite pockets, and you don't want to end up spending thousands or even tens of thousands of extra dollars for work that you didn't want completed or even request in the first place. Maybe this concern won't be an issue as the business grows and matures and develops more documentation and front office and contractual discipline -- I don't know -- but buyer beware regardless.

They were recommended to me by my insurance agency, Travelers. Their initial impressions were…read moregreat. The receptionist was very helpful, and we easily set up an appointment for Jim (the owner) to come out and take a look at my wind-damaged roof. There was some initial mishaps at the beginning. Basically Jim called me and told me that he needed to be at another job site because it was critical. I mean, I'm not a hard person to work with, so we just rescheduled. I did fly home from Denver early for that appointment.... but ok, let's try again. The next week, we meet up and Jim is pretty awesome. He walks me through the entire house, takes a few measurements, looks at the water spots on the ceilings, sketches some stuff, and tells me this would be easy. He's just gotta do something called an "EagleView" to get exact measurements of the roof. My insurance is kinda sketchy and only gave me money to cover 1/2 the roof, but I tell Jim that I'm gonna get the whole thing done anyway and pay outta pocket. He told me that he would lose money if he only did half a roof, and that all the interior work had very little margins. I totally agree with that, which is why I would do the full roof. I need to email my HOA to get approval before any work can be done, which is taking weeks. I keep Jim in the loop with periodic status update, and everything seems fine. My last update to Jim was that I would be out of the country for 2 weeks, and we would sync up after I get back. By now, it had been several months since I initially reported the issue. I email him back - no response, I call him - no response, I leave messages with the secretary to call me back - no response. I wait around for about 6 weeks for a response, but just never heard anything. I get that they're busy, but if they're not going to treat all customers with respect and courtesy, they will surely not get any of my business. I feel like they completely ignored me because my townhouse would not have been worth their time to re-roof. If that was the case, they could have easily just said so and not waste each other's time. I'm sorry to give a local business a poor review, but all businesses need to treat everyone fairly.
