I used to go to Top 10 but stopped because there was a salon closer to my house. However, I've recently started making the drive again because I miss their pedicures, which are great. The place was empty but I was hurried along into the chair (I have mobility issues), the lady who did my nails was rough, impatient and was in a hurry to get back on her phone. I was looking for a nice place on yelp to get some full acrylics done, but i feel like they could have done a better job. It's been a while since I got them done, but my nails took what seemed like forever. The shape didn't match for all the nails and they had to go over a couple fingers because it was kind of chunky and bumpy. Some were also crooked. He used his own nails to try to push my cuticles back. So gross. One of my fingers bled. My nails also weren't completely dry when i left so while looking for my keys, it ruined the polish. Not only that, the guy that i had asked me if i wanted a solar coat to make it stronger, but he failed to add that it would cost more. I stayed past closing so it was a little awkward to say the least, but they gave me some free bowling cards. I came in a few days ago around 3:45 with 3 friends and all the staff were busy which was understandable as they were helping people that had come in before us. They told us to sit down in the waiting area and pick which color we wanted and they would help us. However when one of the ladies had finished with another person she called me over to sit which I do. But then another person comes in and that same woman had her sit in one of the chairs and tells me to go back to the waiting area; minus one star for not prioritizing clients that arrive first (the other person did not have an appointment). So I am waiting awhile more and more people are coming in and it was getting fairly busy. But yet again when they finish up with other clients, they call over the people that had come after my group; minus another star. When I am finally called over, I had waited for am hour and a half, longer than the actual service would have taken (fill on acrylic set). But after waiting all that time the lady rushed through painting my nails with the man switching to do the chrome powder; both doing a subpar job. Not only that but since it had become 6pm they were closing up shop and they turned off most of the lights, which is not professional at all. Overall I am very unhappy with my experience here, I have been here several times and all were okay but after this experience I will not be coming back, they clearly do not care about all their clients. read more

Came here to get our nails done on a Friday morning before heading out to a wedding. We were able to make an appointment for when they opened at 9am. We were the only ones there when they opened which was fine. They didn't have any music or any background noise when we came in which maybe they turn it on later but kind of awkwardly quiet. The staff was pleasant and made sure I liked the color before continuing. I still had gel nail polish on and they were quick getting it off and didn't charge extra. My mom was getting a regular polish, and they had her pay beforehand. Totally get it, but still a little weird considering you tip before your nails are even done. My sister got her toes and nails done, and was done just a few minutes after us which was great. My gel nails were $25 plus a $1 for the nail kit, so with tip $32. I saw they had a full list of pricing (see pic) which is cool and you get 10% off on your birthday! I think in terms of efficiency, ease of booking, and price, I'd come back since it was close to my sister's but kinda bummed that they're already showing wear and tear after two days. read more

I do not recommend going here. I paid $140 for a manicure and a pedicure at this place. My pedicure is OK except for I asked for a certain technique and the guy should've just told me he doesn't know how to do it. There's like strange bubbles in my nail polish on my feet. And my fingers, dear goodness my six-year-old niece could've done a better job. I asked them to redo it and the picture you are looking at is literally after them redoing it. Don't Offer a certain technique where you provide metallic colors on the nail if you don't know how to do it. I've had it done before and it was just simply you guys being stingy with the powder to begin with in the first place which is why I had you redo them because I'm not supposed to see any black at all whatsoever and there was still black everywhere. It looked like I had dirt under my nails. After I had you redo them, they still looked absolutely horrible. I just had to leave at that point after being there for two hours I will never be back and I will not recommend it. Also, the technician stood up the entire time he did my nails, which I found odd, and most likely what led to my nails, looking like complete crap since he wasn't even close enough to be able to pay attention to detail. Upon arrival, I was left soaking for a pedicure for about 30 minutes until I was attended to because there was someone supposedly before me with an appointment. During this wait, I had two different people approach me like they were going to do the pedicure then left and told me a few more minutes. Next, I was motioned to move over to the manicure area and where there I was waiting for about 15 minutes until someone approached me, this person started the manicure and then left, the next person proceeded to start where the last person left off and then a minute later this person left to attend to someone else. Finally a third person finished my manicure after this 30 minute process of switching. Oh and to add, loudly before my manicure started, a man working loudly yelled " she needs to pay first". For the two hours I had spent in the salon, no one else was aggressively told to pay before their manicure started. Took my girlfriend here to get her pedicure and manicure before our friends wedding. Called in the night before and they easily scheduled us for first thing the next morning. They are very careful and gentle with the tools they use, which my girlfriend really appreciates since she is sometimes nervous about getting her nails done. Great SLOW mani/pedi. Good detailed service -- I believe that my cuticles etc. were well attended to. Very long lasting mani-pedi -- I took my red polish off nearly 2 weeks later. Nice staff -- even though it was late, the tech was super sweet and did not rush at all. There's a TV -- if that's your thing.. I went back & forth between watching the news & reading a magazine. At first I thought the guy doing my nails listened and understood I wanted my solar tips taken off and my real nails filed to the top of my fingers (evenly) and a dark red gel color on my real nails. He did an alright job taking off my tips, and my real nails were in good shape and pretty long (a lot to work with).....he started filing and I had to keep telling him they were noticeably uneven. All said and done he filed my nails almost down to the quick and I left extremely disappointed with nothing but stubby short nails and a clear coat; none of my nails are even in the same shape! I wanted to give this place more stars. In fact, despite the fact that I waited 20 minutes when they told me five and they were generally dismissive of me, I was going to give it 3 stars. My manicure turned out great, as did my eyebrows. Both included really nice massages that made my head and arms and hands all feel tingly and amazing. My problems with this place are the two following things: 1) I asked for a mani, which on the sign said it was 7 dollars. They asked if I wanted shellac, and I agreed. It wasn't until she'd already gotten the polish on that she told me the shellac was $18, not $7. Okay. Thanks. I still wanted shellac and because it was for a night out, I was willing to continue. In fact, the massage probably made it worth that much anyways. 2) When I was checking out, she handed the receipt back to me with a pen and insisted I give her more. '"10 for each of us." Nuff said. That was the rudest and most humiliating thing I've ever had done. That was enough to drive me out. I'm bummed because otherwise the place was affordable and clean, but there are plenty of other salons on Hawthorne that offer this service and probably don't feel entitled enough to do things like that. It was galling and frustrating, especially when the price went up $10 in the middle of the service. read more

I've been here many times for pedis (I bite my cuticles on my hands, so no one gets near them, no one), and everytime I'm impressed. I'm not going to lie, if I had more money, I would go elsewhere, but for $20.00, I get a pedicure (with french tips if I choose) while sitting in a cozy massage chair. There was a wait on my most recent experience, but I didn't mind. I was really there for the foot and leg massage rather then the pedi it's self so I wasn't against the wait. 15 minutes later I was in foot bliss. I let the guy know (yes, it was a guy, I think the only one that works there) that I wanted more leg massage then anything and if it meant no polish that it was fine. He then proceeded to give me an over 30 minute foot and leg massage and was more than happy to paint them pretty at the end. I was there a good hour. There was no rush to get me out of there and I left with legs and feet that were turned into jello goodness. $20 doesn't get you much anyone (unless you are ordering off the 99 cent menu at Wendy's), but this $20 was well worth it. The place is clean, they can always get you in with no reservation, and they do a great job. Nothing fru-fru about the place, but they get the job done. read more

Tuesday mornings might be the ideal time to get a nail service. I called about 20 minutes before we wanted to get in, and there was no trouble getting two people in, one classic manicure, one shellac. We were greeted friendly and politely, we each picked colors and were underway in minutes. Both of our nail techs were gentle and polite, they worked quickly but not rushed. Both manicures turned out amazing, and I nearly fell asleep from the massage. They didn't have a problem taking a debit card, and did not insist on a big tip as I had read in a previous review. I tipped generously as our service and experience were deserving. If this shop was closer to our house, I would come back for my next nail appointment without question. I went to Top Ten Nails a few months ago after Euphoria (my previous regular place) started their permanent "New Customers 50% Services!" gimmick. Pretty good pedi, but nothing to write home about. Aesthetician jumped up to get phone in the middle of work, and afterward rushed through the last half (maybe the phone call was a call away, dunno.) Chairs were fine, I got some work done, just a basic, run of the mill pedi. Started chipping a few days after, not sure if this was due to the topcoat being rushed or what. I love me some Top 10 Nails and became a regular shortly after moving to the 'hood in 2005. Sure it's right-around-the-corner-convenient and at $20 for a pedicure the price is certainly right, but the real reason I keep going back is that the owners and staff are just so darn nice. In my experience it's by far one of the most neighborhood-friendly mom and pop places that line Hawthorne; in fact I'd bet money that if Norm from Cheers were to walk in everyone would actually know his name! Top 10 Nails isn't fancy, but it's always clean and my toes look fabulous for weeks after. Oh and if you're up for a walk on the wild side, spend an extra couple of bucks and buy yourself the best French pedicure in town. Pre-Pandemic, when I walked into Top Ten Nails, I was greeted at the front door right away. I've had Polish Changes done at Top Ten Nails a few times. That's just Base Coat, two layers of regular Nail Polish, and Top Coat. It takes less than ten minutes to get a Polish Change, usually. Also, it helps to wait for a half an hour under the fan and the light. I arrive, usually, after I have other business in the neighborhood. It also helps if you pay before you get your nails polished as well... because then you won't have to dig your money or card out with tacky nails... and you know you don't want that. I haven't wanted to get any designs... but the prices for those are listed on the Menu of services available. There is very little street parking right out front so I suggest you take TriMet to Top Ten Nails. Bus #14 stops right on this same block. Did you know... there are many different colors of Nail Polishes available for you to choose from. One time, I chose a nice sunny Yellow hue. And, there is sometimes a wait, if you are walking in... because... well, it's Hawthorne Boulevard... nearly Everyone and their Aunt has heard of Hawthorne. read more

Super Great Little Manicure! Located in the super popular Hawthorne neighborhood, it's facade is super run down looking on the outside. However, so are the rest of the businesses on the street. Probably the landlord's deal. I needed a manicure desperately. So, I was like "whatever"! Once inside it's very comfortable and attractive. Excellent quality chairs. They looked brand new. The lighting was great too. Pretty busy little place for early afternoon. That's a good sign. The lady tried to talk me into shellac twice. It's fine! We all gotta try. I just needed a super quick fix. My nails were a mess and I had to get on with my afternoon. My lady did a very nice hand and arm massage. I'm a dental hygienist, so my arm and hands need some focus! It was great! She took her time and did a great job. She could have been a little more detail oriented with my color. Black is hard, I know. However that's why I was having her do it.
