I've found my forever nail-home Jenny was absolutely delightful. I got a pedicure and a gel manicure. I think the pedicure was the best I've ever received. They're usually kinda painful for me, and this was not at all. She was so gentle and considerate and precise, and topped it off with a lovely little massage. The gel manicure is the best gel I've ever received without question--in the past I've been irritated by gel, because I can feel it on my nail and skin--this feels just like my regular nail but smoother and much prettier. I really enjoyed Jenny's company as well. She didn't force conversation, we just talked when we had something to say. I really appreciate that. I live in white salmon. This is worth the drive. I can't wait to return.

Definitely the best pedicure I've ever had at a casual salon, perhaps in any salon or spa, period. The amount of care that goes into the service is very rare. My favorite part of the pedi (besides how flawless my nails are) was the massage. She knew what she was doing! You know how sometimes you get a half-arsed "massage" and you feel disappointed? Not here. Above and beyond. My manicure was also flawless and survived two days in the Oregon woods, camping and galavanting. I'm going to give it a fresh top coat when I fly home. The prices were reasonable, and truly fantastic for the service you get. Masks are optional for vacc'd folks.

I absolutely love getting my nails done at Boston Nails in SE Portland! The ladies here are so friendly and hospitable, making every visit a delight. They consistently do an amazing job on both manicures and pedicures. Highly recommend!

Maybe the best nail salon experience I've ever had! They got me in for a pedicure and full set in somewhat short notice and I never felt like she rushed at all. Definitely going to be my new go to salon and I'll be recommending to any other Portlanders looking for somewhere great to get their nails done.

The last nail place I went to oversold their nail art ability and I left unhappy. After scouring through multiple nail salon reviews, Boston nails turned out to be great. Not crazy expensive like some other salons can be but also not dirt cheap, and they're really friendly. They did a fantastic job with my pedicure and gel manicure, which had little hand painted strawberries which turned out very cute for my daughter's strawberry themed first birthday party. They didn't peel until I needed to cut them down two weeks later, which is my fault and not theirs. I'll definitely be back!

So easy to see why this place has such glowing reviews over a 15 year span! Kim is literally the best pedicure I've had for a long time and she is the sweetest person. The spot is so well kept and cozy and relaxing and clean. And not to get too into it but she actually got the dry skin off which I feel a lot of pedicures I go home and still feel like I could've done it myself? Rebooked my appt as a left. Inspired by spring and all the greenery my son chose neon green for me. (Also happens to be his fave color). We kept seeing all the lime green Trimet buses passing by so we knew it was a fun choice! This was a nice discovery on a Friday afternoon and I'm happy the lady took my call for a late appt. Hong was wonderful and took her careful time to address my mani. Just got a basic mani this time around and may look at doing shellac next. Thank you! Having been around for many years now I'm glad I came through and will look forward to dropping by again. Atmosphere was clean and quiet and we enjoyed the seated area by the window. And son was even able to sit along side me and not be distracted by anyone. Cheers to green nails! read more

This is one of the best nail salons I have been to in Portland. Kim and her daughter in law are both so sweet. This is a family run business and they make a genuine effort to make you feel comfortable and like you're friends even if they just met you. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I'm new-ish to Portland and hadn't found a nail salon that I loved. When preparing for my wedding, I didn't know who to trust for a gel mani/pedi and was admittedly a bit nervous! I was also working with a tight schedule, and Boston Nails was able to squeeze me in... so I decided to go for it. They did a flawless job on both the mani and pedi. I've had a lot of mani/pedis, but I've never had someone put so much care and patience into it. The experience felt careful and not at all rushed. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality, too. I'll be going back before I head out on my honeymoon in a few weeks! read more

I'm visiting Portland and from the moment I walked in to this salon, situated on the bottom floor of a house, I was treated like a regular. Kim, who lives in the house and owns and operates the salon with her daughter-in-law, we're very welcoming. No one was distractedly looking at a TV or talking with one another. The clients were the focus. I started with the pedicure and it was detailed and unrushed, truly one of the more detailed and better pedicures I've had. The manicure was equally good and unrushed. I'm really glad I found this place. If you live here, this should be your spot. If you're visiting, stop in. I'll be coming here when I return. read more

Han (I may have spelled her name very wrong) did my nails immaculately and was super nice. Lots of gel polish choices. My sister is a nail tech and I usually do my own shellac because I am particular but I would not hesitate to go back again. $25 for gel polish/shellac, $2 more if you don't bring your own file, and $1 if you use a card. In my opinion, under-priced for the great manicure especially in Portland. Update: Sadly, my perfectly shellacked nails are lifting after only 11 days. read more

Kim has helped my feet tremendously! She was recommended by my naturopath to remove a painful corn on my heal. The corn no longer bothers me. I spend 40-45 hours per week working on my feet. Since seeing Kim regularly my feet have never felt better. They rarely are fatigued or painful. And I now consider my visits with her a vital part of taking care of myself! read more

First of all, Brandy's review is totally unrepresentative of Boston Nails. Read some of her other reviews on nail salons--she is a diva, by her own admission. I have been going to Kim for over a year and a half. Randomly, my first review was filtered. Read that, and the 7 other filtered reviews. Kim and her daughter-in-law Jenny are the best. Both of my sisters and my brother-in-law get pedicures, and several of my friends get mani/pedi's too. I have referred others as well. If you are embarrassed by toe nail fungus, have ingrown nails or are even missing a toe nail, she takes care of you. Everything is clean, sterilized and top-notch. read more

Going to Boston Nails is like a trip to grandma's house. The business is located in a quaint older home with a welcoming garden. Inside the shop is immaculate. Kim has recently added additional spa chairs to accommodate her new assistant daughter in law Jennie. Together they are offering complete nail and pedicure services. Kim is the best, simply said. In fact, I refuse to have a pedicure done by anyone other than Kim (unless it is an absolute emergency) but even then, Kim is usually able to see me. It is true, she is the only one - so you won't be able to have your nails done at the same time as your friend, but she has a fabulous magazine selection, so have a seat, catch up on your fashion, and have a nice cup of tea while you wait. read more

Kim is the owner with her daughter Jenny. I went here for convenience since I live close and often travel much further to get my nails done. The reason I was so moved to write a review is because in all my years at nail salons I have never had such intentional genuine conversation with the person doing my nails. It wasn't small talk, Kim spoke to me with love about her grandchildren and told me many funny jokes and stories. She also paid close attention to my nails and gave me many tips to keep them healthy. My nails look great, but that's just the bonus! The real reason to go here is the attention to detail, and the sweet spirit of the owner. I 100% recommend this place for wonderful nail service and great conversation! read more

However, I called and asked what a set of acrylics would cost me before I came in. They told me $50. But when I went to pay, $95 is what they asked me for. So with tip I spent over $100. I'm sorry, but this is WAY beyond misleading. I literally paid double what they told me it would cost me. I feel like that's borderline criminal. I felt like I should tip my nail technician because she did a very nice job. But really I'm upset with myself for tipping anything after having to pay twice what I was told I would pay. It makes me feel like an idiot. So please just know that asking them anything about their prices is not a good way to determine what you're going to end up paying.

The worker who did my nails, I believe their name was Anna, was rough, Intense and not upfront about the price of the service. I do want to include that I am no stranger to getting my nails done, I have been going to a salon once or twice a month for almost 10 years now. However, with most salons they are transparent about the price of the service or tell you about extra costa before you begin your service. When I walked in I asked the person at the counter if I could get a full set. I have gotten a full set at other salons in portland and not been charged extra for gel or not gotten gel. Typically with gel they give you a specific board of color options or a key ring of colors that are different from standard polishes. The color I picked was among all the options and so I didn't know, nor was I told, it would be gel. Once I landed on my color, Anna started doing my nails. It was going well and felt normal until she started to hold my hand flipped from me, essentially twisting my arm for long periods of time while she filed, cut or put the nails on. The service in total rook 1.5 hours, which is fine but felt longer than necessary. At some points when she was drilling my nails down (a process done before applying the glues and fake nails) she drilled so close to the tips of my fingernails it was pressing into my skin. I flinched because it hurt, she didn't ask if I was ok and then kept doing it. I even told her "ow that hurt after she did it for a 3rd or 4th time. After we were done with nails, they made me buy a nail file and buff because that's standard in Portland and I was fine with that. What I wasn't fine with was the fact that there was a hair in the bag they gave me. The nail tech opened the bag multiple times ro use it he file and never even tried to remove the hair before giving me the bag. Again, my nails look great, there was nothing wrong with how they came out but being charged $20 more than the listed price, having my arm twisted and my pain not being acknowledges really dampened my experience at the salon. Really not great experience…read more We had booked 2 builder gels and pedicures at 10:30, we arrive a little early. The front desk completely messed up and thought we were arriving at 11. I specifically requested an individual for my builder gel set, turns out she doesn't do this. I was not notified ahead of time, otherwise I would have made different arrangements. The pedicure was ok but they did a horrible job shaping my nails. I just did one color, no designs. Let me just say, they do NOT do builder gel here. They kept trying to push dip on me which I do not like as it comes out thicker and doesn't adhere to my nails properly. I had previously had a builder gel set on but I needed it redone as I had paint stains between my nail and the builder. They removed it then put clear "builder" on. This was just gel shellac. I got clear, no designs or anything crazy. They did not offer any additional colors for the builder. My mani/pedi came out to $140 My friend did a mani with "builder" as well as designs on multiple nails and a single color pedi, hers came out to $120. Tell me how the heck does that work?! Pricing is very inconsistent. The next day one of my nails broke! I have never had this happen before with a builder set. And today, a week later, there's already lifting of my nails. 4 days after my friend had her nails off the "builder" gel peeled off! They offered to redo our nails but refused a refund. I'm so upset by this whole experience I don't even want to return for the redo. Do not waste your money or time here.

It was love at my first fabulous gel mani and classic pedi. Their phenomenal work is consistent, the space has the feminine modernity I love, but not so feminine to scare the male customers away! Their talented, caring staff always brings their A Game, and it's so fun to see the impressive nail artwork they do on the nails around me....I keep promising myself I'll take the plunge into acrylics one day, and borrow from one of the WOW-worthy nail designs that I see each time I'm there for my appointment. I do love my gel and dip manis, but one day....perhaps this holiday season? We'll see. Danny and his crew still follow strict COVID-19 cleaning guidelines and sterilization, so I never worry whether I just left a super-spreader environment! I came to get a nail removal because my nails were starting to lift and hurt, they did remove the…read morenails so the service was done which is the reason for the 2 stars, but they left my nails pretty damaged and weak, only using the drill to take them off in between soaking (and using an acrylic tip to remove one of my nails... which is a big no no in my experience with doing nails) The nail tech also went back and forth between me and a pedicure using the same drill tip , which is a health violation and 100% NOT okay in my book. Won't be coming back and truly think I could have removed my nails better and more safely, just wanted to support a local business and treat myself instead but I am left with really weak nails instead. I recommend dipped in lake Oswego if you want a similar vibe but better cleanliness and healthier nails.

Kris took my shoulder length hair and cut it into an AMAZING shag. (And provided fantastic conversation while doing it, really they're super cool.) I love it so much! I've gone from a girl who only wore her hair in a ponytail or braids to keeping it unbound. I've gotten so many compliments and I just love the cut -- I can wear it straightened and curly and it looks just as good both ways. She responded very quickly to my message quickly when I expressed dissatisfaction with my hair afterward, and offered to redo the color but I'd rather wait for my hair to grow out as it's several inches too short and already has layers of color in it. I arrived at 11am for an appointment that my confirmation said would last until 1:30pm and we didn't finish until 4pm. She did my cut first and then did the baby lights- they added nice color and dimension to the hair as desired. But she then did my roots and combed the color through. While my color was processing, someone arrived for a haircut and had their haircut done while my color sat. Around 45 minutes later, my color was washed out and was darker than I expected- most of the baby lights were no longer visible. She mentioned the color will fade to be lighter as expected, but the result was surprising. I also asked for 2 inches or so to be cut, and mentioned I wanted to be able to put my hair in a ponytail still. When facing the mirror, the length was going great and she showed me it could still go in a ponytail. When turned around, I lost several inches for some reason and there was no going back. She took off even more in the back, and I left unable to put my hair in a ponytail. I'm not sure if there was a miscommunication and she thought I wanted the grow out to be able to be in a ponytail, but I don't think so since she initially showed me she could put it in a ponytail. By 4pm I was tired and hungry and ready to get home- she asked if I wanted to see the hair blown out and styled which I did but just wasn't up for given the 5 hours I'd been there so I said no. There was also another person waiting for their 4pm appointment to start. When I did straighten it at home, I was surprised by my hair. I've gotten cuts that suit curly hair on many occasions and have always been able to wear the cuts straight too. This cut when straight appears uneven and choppy. The transition to the short back is awkward. She'd mentioned that at the end she'd go through and do any evening, cutting of long pieces etc needed but by then, as I'd mentioned, someone had shown up for another appointment at 4 and no additional cutting was done. I'm not sure if it was an off day, if my hair just took a few hours longer than expected or if she typically stacks appointments but things seemed rushed between the clients. I've never had someone try to do a whole haircut while dye sits on and I felt like my dye was likely left on too long due to it which resulted in the darker hair and missing baby lights. I've included pictures of my hair before the appointment length wise, what I asked for, and what I got. Given the many positive reviews, I'd say this could be chalked up to an off experience but given the starkly different results I thought it was worth sharing.

I have been going to Kim for 20 + years and would not consider ever going anywhere else. She is very professional and friendly, her salon is immaculate and I have never experienced any problems with Kim or Jenny. I can always get an appointment whenever I need one. I get many compliments on my nails and she takes good care of my feet. Regarding Brandy's review, it sounds like she was the one that was rude and tempermental. Kim has every right to refuse service to those type of people. Kim is the BEST !! read more
