I was looking for kitchen cabinets and came across Top-Shelf thru a recommendation. I called them and spoke with Marc who then gave me Matt who co-owns the company. I explained to them that I was looking for new cabinets. They recommended I come to their showroom out in Streamwood to see the different cabinet lines they carry. to make sure we would be a good fit. I did go out there and saw their lines and was really impressed. I showed them what I liked and then we scheduled an appointment to come out to my place and they would make a drawing based on what I wanted. They made a drawing for me and then priced out my cabinets. Believe it or not the price was reasonable for the quality I was looking for. We placed the order about 3 months ago and had them installed about 10 days ago. I had had a manufactured countertop installed which was custom. The cabinets really make my kitchen. Matt and Marc provided excellent customer service. We put an addition on our house and needed additional Kraftmaid Cabinets to match the existing ones that we purchased from a big box store. They beat the price significantly from the competitors. The process was so easy, communication was done through email/text (which I prefer) and they responded quickly every time. I then made two additional purchases from them for bathroom vanities. I found what I wanted at other stores emailed them the model number and again they were able to beat the price. Talked with 4 other cabinet places for my kitchen remodel before I talked with Matt and Marc. After meeting with them, seeing their "stock" product line, design, cabinet delivery time and price we knew this was the right company to work with. They were fantastic thru the entire process, listened to what we wanted in our kitchen, answered all of our questions by text or email quickly, kept us up to date on delivery information and followed up after installation making sure we were happy with our choice. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience as other people have had dealing with this company. My initial contact was good. I visited their showroom and picked out the cabinetry I wanted. I received a quote in a timely fashion and had questions answered. All went well until my second meeting with Matt when I went to the showroom to give him a check to begin the process. I walked into the showroom and was greeted warmly. He gave me a copy of the receipt for payment with the email attached listing their quote. I began to read the receipt details and asked about timing of delivery as there was no mention of it on the receipt. Matt immediately had an attitude about how he couldn't give me a specific date....which I hadn't asked for. I simply wanted to discuss it a little further but his attitude became ... what I thought was very defensive... and it went downhill from there. The nasty exchange went on for about 5 minutes. When I told him that I wasn't going to buy my cabinets from him, he told me, "I don't care." He didn't seem to care that because of his attitude, he was losing a sale and the gentleman in his showroom that was going to provide the quartz countertops would also not be getting my business either. Don't know how that guy is going to feel about losing business...also, the contractor to install the cabinetry would be losing business because I won't be using him either. All in all, I would give these guys a minus ten rating. Their product may be good...I'll never know....but his customer service is some of the worst I've ever encountered. read more

UPDATE 07/31/2016- We still don't have one of pieces that are missing from our fillers. So our cabinets remain incomplete. I would love to say that we have heard anything from Top-Shelf in regards to the status of said item, but unfortunately not. They know my number and email and I would be happy to hear directly from them as to how it can be resolved. After being encouraged to use this company for my cabinets by my contractor I chose TopShelf for my new kitchen. I could not have made a worse decision. From day one my wife and I had to fight over the cabinets and the designs. We are not kitchen designers and leaned heavily on their "expertise", that's where we went wrong. They made multiple inconsistencies throughout the kitchen, and completely left out essentials such as a pull out garbage. After all that when our cabinets finally arrived, and were installed by our contractor, we realized they had sent us the wrong cabinets. We had payed more for a high gloss white and did not receive that. Following that somehow my wife and I got caught in the crossfire between the contractor and this company, while the only ones suffering were us without a kitchen. TopShelf agreed to ship out replacement panels. When we received those we were dismayed to find that the "dummy doors" were not even the right size! We were told by them "that's just how it is" and were forced to deal with it. They also did not send a few pieces and we are still waiting on that. Overall, their poor communication and customer service tells me I would be better off saving my money and using IKEA or going to Lowes for the exact same product with half the stress. After all the trouble we went through we were offered no discounts or compensation. After spending over 14k I anticipated a higher level of customer service. DO NOT USE TOPSHELF. read more
