After a 20 year hiatus I decided this past Fall to go back to a sport I love - equestrian riding. I was hoping to join a premier riding stables but was unsure if it was out there in the GTA as it had been before when I rode. I was looking for a stables that was outstanding inside and out, was very well operated and most importantly took great care of their horses. I visited a few places and then I found Top Rails and had a tour with their incredible stables manager. She gave us so much of her time and answered all our questions. It was at this time I realized I found a stables I had been looking for. A stables that offers an excellent riding school, different options for riding and leasing, and a welcoming atmosphere. Their employees are an amazing group of people, the care of the horses is top notch and their riding coaches, especially Pam S. are some of the best in the GTA. When you are in a lesson with Pam S. she brings out the best in you and wow you learn so much. Dr. Kim and Jeremy are a great team and as a client I appreciate their dedication to the sport, to Top Rails, to their clients and horses. They are wonderful to deal with and their passion for this sport is seen everywhere at the stables. Thank you Top Rails Stables for all you do. My 5 yr old daughter started the learn to ride program this month, and we are impressed. The facility and property are gorgeous, the Top Rail Stables team and riders are welcoming. The team has been accommodating, to our busy summer schedule as well as patient. In 3 sessions she has gone from a non rider to walking rails without a lunge line! We would definitely recommend TRS to anyone starting out and from what we have seen so far to experience riders also. We are happy to have found Top Rail Stables and to join the TRS family, look forward to more years of riding. read more

Theres three things that I would like to cover in this review. 1. The mistreatment of customers. 2. The dishonesty of the owner 3. The poor ethics of this barn. 1. I had switched to top rail because my coach had moved there. I payed for privet lessons with him which ran me about 300 a month. ( more than before he moved here but I agreed to the managements prices to keep riding with him) It was fine at first but a few months in, my coach had to reschedule on me due to him and the barn manager going to some shows with other clients. They have a 2 week rescheduling policy on their lessons or it's lost. For those 2 weeks they were constantly going to shows and the few times they were not I had my work so I could not come. This happened roughly 4 times. The barn manager refused to reschedule these lessons for me as the 2 week period had passed. We finally worked up a deal were if I payed the 300 for the following month, I would be allowed to get my missed lessons (which I did not cancel they did) if I took them all within two weeks. We got through 3 lessons before my coach abruptly stopped working there. I was not informed by Jeremy the owner that he had left. I attempted to schedule lessons and got no response from the owner. To this day he owes me 4 lessons or the money for them (300). I think it is disgusting and unprofessional to not inform your clients about what is going on and attempt to at least finish their lessons. We called and emailed the barn multiple times and got the run around from workers and 6 months later, still no response. 2. If the above wasn't enough, the owner has tried multiple times to lease or part board out horses that are frequently lame forcing people who lease them to pay for their expenses (as per the lease agreement). This falls into number 3 as well. Several of the children from the schooling barn have posted videos of horses who are clearly lame, jumping full courses. The horses are fine but none of them are "top notch" and NONE are worth the 800 dollar part board fee. The facility is beautiful but not worth the shitty treatment you get for what you pay. Don't waste your time or money. There are better barns in the area that won't try to up sell you or blatantly steal your money. None of the coaches show or have shown recently either but you get charged an arm and a leg for "A-Circuit" Training. read more

From the moment my two daughters and I entered Top Rail, we loved it. We were welcomed by all and felt it to be a good fit, pretty much from the get go. The viewing room is cozy, friendly and great for entertaining large groups. The Family Day fun and games this past Feb was the best part of our weekend. A lot of thought went into making it fun for all. What sticks out most however, is the support both my daughters received at schooling show this past winter. My youngest usually is sick to her stomach and tries to back out of competing at the kart minute. This time however, her butterflies were coached right out of her. Both daughters placed well that day and I owe that a lot to the support of Jeremy and Brittany from Too Rail. read more

This barn will teach you not only how to ride, but true horsemanship. Not everyone wants to deal with all aspects of horses, which includes cleaning up after your horse and getting dirty with grooming. However, Top Rail makes sure riders know everything--from horse care before and after riding to management of the tack and the barn to make the experience safe and well rounded. Extremely unprofessional and idiotic If you value your time and money, do not go to this barn. This was by far the worst experience I've had after being in this industry for over 12 years. I booked a 5-lesson package with these guys more than a month in advance (as I was coming in from another country), and clarified that I was interested in individual lessons focusing on flatwork in order to get my riding seat back in the most efficient manner (as I have been out of the saddle for 2 years). I came for an introductory assessment lesson as they requested, a month in advance, as well. What happened when it came to actually following up with my 5 lessons? I reached out to them 1.5 weeks in advance once again, to confirm the exact days and times. Nobody answered my email. At all. Not until I followed up again 5 days later. When they did get back to me, it turned out that they now couldn't do the 5 lessons they had originally agreed to, and that I was now down to 3. No heads up, no nothing. I finally show up on the scheduled day for my first out of the 3 lessons. Surprise, surprise, the private lesson has now been transformed into a beginner group lesson, focusing on cross-rails. And the horse that I was supposed to ride was just jumped in an hour long lesson right before. Again, no heads up about the change of plans and horse availability. When I asked about whether the price was any different for a group lesson vs. a private lesson, they said no, prices are the same for all lessons. After riding for over 12 years in 6 countries, I have never experienced such disrespectful and unprofessional conduct within the equestrian community. This barn is "managed" by unprofessional amateurs in their early 20s who lack the essential knowledge of basic customer service and respect. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. read more
