A small group of us went here for one hour trail riding. Truly enjoyed my time here as it's not…read moresomething we can do everyday. The GPS actually took us to the wrong ranch at first. It's NOT the first ranch on the left on Burnhamthorpe w/ the two GSDs! One more over or till u see the green roof barns. We were greeted by two friendly dogs who led us to the back (how cute is that? seriously?). We paid the fee ($40 cash or $42+HST) & signed a waiver (naturally) and they had a demo on riding. Helmet rental was free (mandatory for children & recommended for adults). However, due to the light rain that day, a few helmets were wet...on the inside. Or is that sweat? hmm.... The trail was definitely scenic and quite spacious. It was truly beautiful! It is probably so amazing here around the fall. They also offer lessons, boarding, hay/sleigh rides. Great for groups and parties. The horses were all quite gentle. Anyhow, we were warned they are like high school kids and have their own little clique. The more dominant horses wouldn't like if others were ahead of them in the trial ride line. So we had to watch out for that. How cute! Just like my dog lol What I liked about the one hour trail ride was... we got to jog at least 3 times (aftermath: a sore bum but it was fun!). I've been to another ranch where they only let you jog once & trails were mostly in a tight forest...but not so much for this one. Lots of fields. A bit of everything... and of course lots of horse sh*t. Massive... lol We were allowed to look at the horses in the stables as well. Some flies in there but that is expected. We had a bit of rain so they went away after a while. There were prob around 20 horses there. They seemed happy & healthy. Lots of different sizes. Love them all esp my horse :D I miss my Lucy! She was prob one of the bigger horses. Not sure why I was paired w/ her as I was nearly doing the splits while climing down (thank god for yoga!). But I LOVE Lucy & happy they put me with her anyway. Can't wait to come back again!

The horses essentially follow each other. You get to hold the reins and play cowboy for about 35 mins. Overall it's a ride on a horse along a path, not much else. If you are scared of horses or just want the experience i'd say try it out but tbh there is sooooo much more you can do with $80 with an hour imo.

A 1 hour horse ride through the trail where you get full reigns of your horse and even do a little galloping on the ride! On my most recent visit, the staff were very very friendly and helpful! Its under new management and I definitely noticed a difference. A special shout out to the staff member (I forgot her name) who has the long eyelashes and is super funny! On weekdays the ride is $35 per person and the staff pair you with a horse that you would be a good match with. The trail is tranquil and scenic, however make sure you wear repellent because mosquitoes are ruthless (no surprise there). 10/10 recommend. Its a nice break from the city and the horses are super calm and friendly. Side note: I had "Honey" and she is featured in Anne of Green Gables and Handmaids Tale! I'll get her autograph next time.

They chose horses that match the rider and it worked out great. Don't expect to gallop as this was a basic ride along a trail on their ranch. The staff taught us how to ride and at times we needed to avoid the horses in front making a wc stop along the trail. The horses were good sports letting us ride in the heat but we needed them to keep focus by pulling their head up to avoid stopping to eat grass. As a bonus for a large group, the ranch provided an exclusive area for us to hold a bbq picnic. A good friend brought the grill and we had a delicious meal with burgers, corn and mushrooms. Definitely would recommend the branch for beginners. Will try to find another ride where we can gallop.

Meadowlarke! HORSE…read moreCARE The horses are well cared for and lived by volunteers and staff alike. The stalls are good sizes for the horses and appropriate tack and grooming supplies are provided accordingly. STAFF/VOLUNTEERS I am in love with the care and bonds the volunteers and staff with the horses! Meadowlarke does an amazing job hiring professionals for the safety of the rider and the horse. Tack is always put away properly and cleaned well and the lesson instructors are very responsible and provide a welcoming and safe environment for students and horses ARENAS The arenas are well kept, but leaks could be fixed in both larger and smaller arenas. I like that with the better weather riders ride outside and parents are welcome to watch every lesson, and the sizing and lighting is appropriate MISCELLANEOUS Meadowlarke has a heated back lounge with the list for horses and riders and in better weather a beautiful pasture and outdoor arenas. I also really admire all horses are rescues and are retired to meadowlarke north after a beautiful life. Meadowlarke also does a wonderful job of subjecting all ages to the horror of awful organizations like Canada Goose and help the people of the future realize animals deserve better lives. Going back to the staff and volunteers they have a beautiful sense of humour and are strict and firm with the horses need be. CAMPS I love Meadowlarke's camps! They push kids out of their comfort zone promoting them to be better riders and have a wide curriculum from horse sense and riding to PETA and other animal protection foundations. They divide campers into groups based on skill level but one thing I think should be changed asking parental consent to give the campers milk and checking for but allergies as the milk is almond and campers must guess what kind. Overall I think meadowlarke is a 10/10 establishment 5 stars!

I also admire the fact that the owners rescue horses who were being abused or going to be put down. I think that is very admirable. I also have to say, their prices are the best in the city. They are much cheaper than other stables. The Negatives: I didn't like how small the horses stalls were. When you went to tack up the horses, you literally had to push the horse so you could groom them on each side as they were too narrow for both you and the horse. The stable is also pretty far from where I live and they didn't have any classes available at a convenient time for me at my riding level. I would say this is a good stable if you live in Mississauga. If you are closer to Toronto or live in Northern Toronto, I would recommend others.

I was looking for a stables that was outstanding inside and out, was very well operated and most importantly took great care of their horses. I visited a few places and then I found Top Rails and had a tour with their incredible stables manager. She gave us so much of her time and answered all our questions. It was at this time I realized I found a stables I had been looking for. A stables that offers an excellent riding school, different options for riding and leasing, and a welcoming atmosphere. Their employees are an amazing group of people, the care of the horses is top notch and their riding coaches, especially Pam S. are some of the best in the GTA. When you are in a lesson with Pam S. she brings out the best in you and wow you learn so much. Dr. Kim and Jeremy are a great team and as a client I appreciate their dedication to the sport, to Top Rails, to their clients and horses. They are wonderful to deal with and their passion for this sport is seen everywhere at the stables. Thank you Top Rails Stables for all you do. I highly recommend them and am so happy I found them!!

A decent drive out from Markham is this horse riding…read moreranch with several horses and huge, expansive, beautiful property that includes a forest! We came here in September on a warm and comfortable evening. It was pretty empty when we arrive and we signed in a little house at the front, then we were led by a staff member to the horses after a short introduction video and in-person intro to help us put on our helmets and stow our stuff safely away (like keys and phones). We then boarded our horses and were lucky that there were only 2 of us so we basically got a private horseback riding excursion! The staff member who guided was quite experienced and knew how to manage and control the horses well. We walked around the forest a lot, traversing up and down hills, doing a bit of trotting and riding on the horse which was quite an experience! It was enjoyable and relaxing to ride these horses! I think my horse and I got along pretty well, since the horses are pretty well trained and walk these paths a lot you don't really need to guide them too much; and they also follow the other horses pretty well. Time of the day matters too! We came near the end of the day so the horses were getting tired, sluggish and less inclined to walk around (they just wanted to eat and rest!). I'd definitely recommend long pants and bug spray for this activity; and to dress in comfortable clothing. Overall, the experience was fantastic and I'd definitely come back!

Ryan Horse We came…read moreby for a trail ride and I have mixed reviews. I told them I know how to ride and they gave me a horse named Ryan, who was really sluggish and required tons of leg work to keep up with the group. It was absolutely exhausting and super frustrating. We came by here to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and I did not enjoy it. My husband and was given a different horse named Ranger, and he didn't have to do anything to keep his horse moving. He had a much better experience than me. Another con is they don't let you interact with the horses before the ride or after the ride. I would have liked to be able to pet the horses or pet them and get some close ups with the horses. When you are on the trail ride they take your photo at two spots and this is included with admission cost. However we paid full price and I heard other people say how much they paid and they had used a groupon and paid half as much as us. After the ride, they offered us a promo to come back but I did not take the flyer because I did not want to go back. I feel bad writing this review because I don't want anything bad to happen to any of the horses if their business does badly but I did not have a good time. I don't recommend riding the horse named Ryan. The company also said to not to bring your phones but everyone else brought their phones. I was disappointed I didn't have mine.
