The movers that I was given were not careful at all with my expensive furniture, they chipped up all of my dressers, dirt all over my white fabric couch's with footprints on them because they did not wrap it up, and then on top of all of that broke my 3.5k console and offered to pay $60 to compensate. BEWARE DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. They are not professionals and when they broke my console they refused to compensate properly, did not offer any discount on the move and the movers gave a nasty attitude and refused to sign any document saying they damaged it. This company is that company, the one that fills up the truck and then tries to change the price on you. It took them six hours to move me out of my two bedroom into the truck they quoted me a 3 hour job that was actually 8.Being that I wouldn't give them one extra cent the owner Sebastian. If he is the owner, instructed his movers to unload the truck and leave everything on the sidewalk. If you want to work with a moving company who is with you every step of the way, then Top Notch is NOT for you. Our experience was so reprehensible that we are now dealing with an insurance company and a lawyer to explore next steps. The initial impression of the company was stellar. We had a 2-part move where items had to be picked up from our house and a storage unit in FL and then delivered to an apartment and storage unit in PA. We were organized in labeling our contents ("apartment" or "storage") and the packing team, under Tony's leadership, packed the Top Notch truck with great organization and a customer-focused attitude. The delivery was a nightmare. The first stop was to meet the movers at the storage unit. The driver arrived an hour late in a completely different, nasty truck that had been packed, with no lift/ramp and no helpers. We were never told that our move was going to be subcontracted or that our items had been transloaded because the truck broke down or that the driver would arrive alone. The subcontractor appears to have been Lodestone Logistics out of NY. When the driver realized he could not move our furniture and boxes on his own, he left to go pick up helpers from Home Depot. We were enraged to think all our possessions would now be handled by random guys who were not background checked and who were going to be paid under the table. After waiting another hour for the driver to return, we left. All along, there were many phone calls with Top Notch and the sub-contractor to deal with this disaster. While sitting in the car, we even sent an email to owner Hen Segal, who didn't reply for 5 days. In the end, we agreed to meet the driver the next day at 7 am. The next day, we received a text that the jalopy had broken down. When we called, the driver had no access to roadside assistance, so we drove to his hotel and helped the driver jumpstart the truck. Once that ordeal was over, the driver had to go pick up "contract" workers to help with the unloading. Another delay. When the driver finally arrived, we saw that all our meticulously labeled/organized goods were completely jumbled in this crappy truck, and nearly half of our stuff was water damaged because the roof had leaked. After a bunch of intense phone calls between Top Notch and the sub-contractor, it was required that we pay full price for the move or the driver was going to leave with our contentsàransom! Sebastian (an alleged part-owner of Top Notch) told us that after the move, we could discuss a refund. Sebastian verbally indicated that, based on the atrocious experience, they would end up not making any money on the job. We, under duress, agreed to pay the final balance even though we had no reason to believe the company would do anything that was in our best interest since they put us in a situation where Home Depot dudes would handle our life's possessions out of disgusting truck that leaked all over stuff. In the end, the move was completed, but not without tears and arguments. Knowing that the driver and helpers were caught in the misfire, we did still tip them for their hard work. We called the next day. Sebastian informed us they had to wait for the final paperwork before he could discuss the next steps. He also told us that we should take down the poor reviews we had posted to demonstrate that we want to cooperate with them. This felt like extortion, but we succumbed and took down the reviews. We called again in a few days, but Sebastian is not available. We left messages. We called and waited each day. And the next. Twic, we spoke to a customer service person who stated she would have refunded us half of our money to avoid bad reviews. We also spoke to Mar, who stated he would have Sebastian call us. In the end, Sebastian sent a cowardly email stating that "operations" felt they fulfilled their contract and offered us a mere 10% refund. On a $6200 move, that's an insulting $629. We did not accept this offer, and here we are. So many opportunities for Top Notch to demonstrate customer service, but they had zero professionalism to do so. read more

Top Notch Movers lives up to their name for sure. A friend of mine recommended them and told me they packed everything. I took that to heart, so on moving day I had nothing packed. They did in fact pack everything for me. Mark, Sunni and Jovonne were so personable and kind. I felt like I was hanging out with my friends and packing up my apartment. They truly went that went above and beyond expectations. Upon arriving to my new condo, we found out my couch wouldn't fit in the elevator or stairwell. I was heart broken to say the least. Jackie, at the main office agreed to hold it for me at no charge so I could try to sell it. I'm not sure if this is something they normally do, but I tipped the guys nicely so I think they wanted to extend the kindness back. I was able to sell it in a couple of days and Jackie even met with the buyer and made sure she paid me before she let it go. Back to the actual packing...nothing was broken. I was so surprised as I have a ton of mirrored furniture and glass items. They also kept all my clothes on hangers and they put them in my closet when we arrived. That was a nice touch because I was able to have my work clothes available without searching for them. I do wish they would've labeled all the boxes however. One of the guys had a marker I had provided, so he labeled everything he packed. But the other two didn't, so upon getting everything delivered, I had to open a lot of boxes to know what was inside. So make sure you give everyone a marker and ask them to label things. Everything was delivered (or so I originally thought), and it was a bargain, but the experience was not top notch at all, and in the future I'd just pay more to avoid being treated poorly as if I were just some deadbeat customer looking to get one over on them. The transit took longer than expected (within contract allowance, but much more than the sales person's estimate of likely delivery time). Unsurprisingly, the cost was higher than estimated at pickup and delivery. During delivery, the goods were held and delivery was contingent upon agreeing to higher costs than estimated (that's a nicer way to say it than it felt...) The company threatened to leave with the goods undelivered and charge re-delivery fees and storage if we didn't comply. The office person and coordinator treated me rudely and dismissively. Overall, very underwhelming, and at times disturbing. Update 8/7/2020 After a full review of all received items during this move, there were many damages to items, the delivery address itself sustained damages from the movers, and there were many completely missing items and boxes. I made two major mistakes when I had to do my long distance move from MD to FL. The first mistake was using 'Safe Ship Moving' (a moving broker). The second mistake was the company that Safe Ship hired, Top Notch Movers. I had spoken to about 5 different moving companies before Safe Ship gave me a call. I let the sales agent know off the bat that I had one major requirement, I was moving to a city and a tractor trailer could not fit where I was because it was a busy road, and the area was blocked off for construction. I let the sales agent know I needed a 26' box truck, and she ensured me that was no problem and created a binding-estimate that I signed. When Top Notch picked up my items in MD I was told that a tractor trailer was going to be headed to final delivery. I immediately got on the phone to call Safe Ship customer service. It took Safe Ship over 3 days to get back to me. I asked them for the number to the Top Notch dispatcher that was handling the move. Once I got a hold of him (Shaun B.), he insisted to me that a trailer could fit, AND that he never once received any communication from Safe Ship about downsizing to a 26' box truck. I didn't want to argue with him, he was looking at Google Maps and I told him the road he was planning on using was blocked for construction. I also inquired if using the bigger truck will be extra $ because they would most likely have to park further away. He insisted once again that everything would be fine. He let me know the truck should be at my apartment on Monday, but they didn't arrive until Friday. Then the drivers procced to ask me for $350 more because they have to carry my items further. After calling the dispatcher back and telling him that he neglected to tell me of these extra costs when I initially asked, he called his drivers and told them to just leave. Extremely unprofessional company. Don't waste your time, energy, or money. Know your rights, and if this happens to you file with FMCSA so others can be made aware. read more

Really disappointing. They get two stars because their movers were friendly, at least. To begin with, they "hid the ball" on estimates--moving it up at the last minute (by that time it was too late to switch movers) by more than 10%. They told us that the higher amount would only be charged if the movers needed to take additional time. Well, guess what? The movers didn't need the additional time and they charged anyway. Then they tried to make us sign a document allowing them to charge another $200 if we challenged the charge on our credit card. No surprise that they had that document cooked up already. None of our stuff was broken, but we'd never use them again. UPDATE (2.27.2017): On closer inspection, it turns out that there were some pretty significant dings and scratches to a table and chairs that were moved. We didn't see it initially because the movers (conveniently) put the damaged side up against the wall. We'll post pictures so you can see for yourself. This Yelp review has now generated a response from the movers. At first they were conciliatory, but now they are threatening unspecified "legal action" based on this review. I scheduled my piano to be moved last week for a move date 5 days later. Paid the deposit and then the move was canceled the morning of the move because they said they couldn't move pianos up stairs. I've moved with Top Notch Movers twice over the last 3 years. To be fair, my first experience with them was probably a 4 star experience which caused me to hire them a second time which turned out to be a major mistake. My last experience was my worst experience with a moving company that I've had to date (if there was a negative star rating I would give one). Items were broken, improperly packaged AND *most importantly* items were stolen during the move (this isn't conjecture, this is 100% fact). Unfortunately I didn't learn about most of it until months later after I was able to inspect our items post-delivery. Here's the full story: I hired TNM to help me load a storage container in FL that I was having shipped to my new place of residence (about 7-8 months later). However, once we received our container, it was CLEAR that certain high value items (computer, luxury items) were stolen during the loading of the container. I contacted the moving company to inform them of the issue - I was initially disappointed in the way that it was handled by Top Notch. There seemed to be no accountability at all on their end, they continued to lean on the fact that the move was "too long ago" for them to take any actions. So, I was forced to report the theft to the police, AND I was forced to file a claim with a 3rd party (MovingClaims.net) which remains unresolved. I've spent hours, days, weeks and months now performing my own investigation into what happened on the day of my move. Luckily I had DETAILED records of our stolen items, including serial numbers of the computer and some unique identifiers/photos/receipts of other items. After reporting the stolen goods to the police, it turned out that one of the movers at Top Notch had #1 sold our stolen items to local consignment stores AND #2 tried to PAWN our stolen computer which led to the pawn shop reporting the stolen item to the police. This led police right back to the mover who was responsible for packing our items in the container. It's an open and shut case that either it was a rogue mover or a coordinated effort by the movers to steal our high valued items. I'm not sure if TNM can improve upon this review - but if they are fully accountable for admitting a mistake was made in hiring a mover who has a history of criminal activities AND provide some compensation for our losses, that would be a good start. Every company is entitled to making mistakes in their hiring ONLY if they're fully accountable and own up to the issues that this has caused a repeat customer. Trust me, it has caused me A LOT of misery and taking up A LOT of time over the last few months. And they need to give their current and future customers some assurances that issues like this have been addressed and will not happen again. Side note: My advice to anyone not only considering hiring TNM, but any movers in general is to keep *detailed* records of the items that you're moving and try to inspect said items ASAP post delivery. It will help you down the line in case you find yourself in the same situation. In this case, I was taken advantage of because the movers knew that I was keeping my items in storage for a long time, and I'd have no way of checking their work until months after the fact. read more

If you are looking for a reliable moving company, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. The only reason they have decent reviews is because they ask you to do them before the move is complete... they did ask my daughter to do the review at the beginning of the move.... Which she will edit it. This company is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL . When we contract them, they chose to do the estimate trough the phone, which I thought it was odd, but since we had to relocate in a rush due to job Relocation we just went with it. We were quoted between $2600 & $3200. We ended up having to pay about $5800k. Not counting my son's new desk (worth $1279) that they broke, and refused to cover it. The move itself was a nightmare, they were supposed to be @ our place @8:30am only got there @10am, Then their truck, was too small and did not fit all our furniture, so we now had to pay extra for another trip and another day, which was promised it was going to happen the following day, LIES, we only got the remaining of our stuff 3 days later, ( every passing day was an excuse; no crew, no truck, truck need maintenance,etc. As we were waiting in between days to have our remaining stuff moved, we also got a lovely surprise from the crew that moved us. They texted my husband saying that they would only come back to deliver our items if we pay them a tip of $600 ($200 for each of the 3 movers) and they insulated my husband because he had told them he was going to tip them when the job was completed, and they didn't like that. Can't wait to go thru all the damaged boxes- didn't have the energy to do it yesterday. Paid extra for a stop at the storage unit but that didn't happen so I had to make 4 trips in my vehicle and load and unload myself. I can't wait to see how the claim process works. And the icing on the cake- money, money, money. The first thing the driver did was want money BEFORE anything is unloaded. Now I get it, take the money BEFORE you see the conditions of your items or even if everything is even there. And the attitude is IFGAF. Oh but the movers said "Sorry for the inconvenience". Hired them to help my elderly parents move from a condo to another five minutes away. The highlight of the move was that *the movers stole all of my mother's credit cards* during the five minutes that she stepped outside to check on the elevator. They also broke a table and a lamp. Regarding the broken items, they promised they will have their insurance compensate them (no news after six days). Regarding the stolen credit cards, they take no responsibility whatsoever and claim their employees are all very honest, despite the fact that the cards were all stolen during the move and someone tried running charges on them the day after. Damaged property was not reimbursed even using the MINIMUM .60/lb. Also, they shook me down for an additional $1,650, holding my furnishings hostage until I signed a phony document that added 350 cf for 5 little items and paid this additional amount. Other issues were that the b/l had incorrect item numbers, items went missing and they were totally non-responsive once they got their money. Over the phone, I'd told the representative the size of the house we were vacating, and gave her a general idea of it's contents. She quoted me a price for the move. I agreed to the quoted price. About a week before the move, they sent me an email message, asking how much I'd packed. I responded with an honest answer. I arranged for a one bedroom apartment as a temporary residence in North Carolina for my wife and I, and a place to store the rest of our items. We were scheduled to close (sell) our house the day after the move. We had to vacate. Of course, we weren't done packing at the time. When the movers arrived, they started to load our items. As they were doing so, the man in charge told me we had items we hadn't told them about, and as a result, it would cost more. Thousands of dollars more! What could I do? I found several movers I was going to call for my out of state move. Of the ones I contacted, Top Notch contacted me via phone and followed up to see if I had any questions. They were patient and thorough with going through my inventory and reminded me of items that I didn't consider (which indicated to me their level of experience and professionalism). On move day, they called when they were on their way and arrived on time. Each of the movers introduced themselves to me and were polite and professional (very important to me, being that I'm from the South). They wrapped my furniture and started moving out boxes in a jiffy - double checking with me on any items they were unsure of. I had more boxes than the estimate. Each additional box was accounted for and listed to total the final cost. There was a lot of paper work, but I appreciated it because everything was documented. The total move took a little over 3 hours - would have been less if my apartment service elevator wasn't down for 45 minutes. Even with that, the movers were still productive and continued to move the boxes until the elevator was repaired. Although moving is an annoying process, it was good I didn't have any drama with the movers. They did a great job. Not the best, not the worst. CONS: I think it is kind of weird when any type of all day workers don't bring their own lunch and you buy it for them. It's not a hug deal, but perhaps something when signing up for the move the person on the phone can ask. Then give you a decision. I would have said yes if asked ahead of time, but to just not bring food. That being said, I have moved several times, and they have all done this. So, I expected it a bit. One of the three spent more time doing paper work and taking tape off moving blankets than I think necessary. The blanket part (at least) should be done on their own time, not with the amount I am paying. PROS: Finished without scratching a single wall. That is super important when moving to a new house. The guys were strong and in shape so the move was easier (I have had weak movers in the past, takes longer and scratches happen). I hope to never move again, but if I did, I would consider using this company again. Not for sure, but maybe. read more
