I wish I can give this place a 0 review! My sister and I went here yesterday (1/5/25) for 2 pedicures and a full set. We went here because our usual place was booked and it was her birthday. When we got home my sister was complaining about her feet hurting. I didn't have my feet hurting cuz I was sitting down most of the time, but then I showered and my foot is raw. They used a callus remover and the pedicure rasp to scrap our feet. I had to go get first aid ointment and put it on my feet. My sister's full set is chipping and she got them done yesterday. I also wrote a review on Google and they took it down. Their reviews are high on Google but on yelp it's low.. hmm seems like they are deleting the bad ones. This salon caused both of my sisters so get severe chemical burns on their feet. They also use serrated metal foot files which are ILLEGAL in New York state. They removed my sister's review. Not to mention the manicure my sister received is already falling apart one day later. DO NOT GO HERE. I will add that yes, he refunded their money which is good, but that is not the point. Many others have the same complaint about the manicure quality and he admitted to my sister that they have a new callus remover chemical that burned other people before!!! I came here because the firat time I came, it wasn't too bad. An older gentleman did my nails and I felt that it was going to be a disaster. His mannerisms indicated he didnt want to be there and definitely didnt want to do my mani / pedi. I was right!!! First,he couldn't find the color I chose. Ok fine, chose another. The pedicure seemed to go ok. Now when it came to my nails I specified regular, not gel. He still had me put my hand in the UV machine. Ok fine, no big deal. All was done, paid and went home. Next day, 2 of my nails chipped. I get the nails can chip, but the very next day....no way! When I looked at my nails I noticed that he did a horrible job painting them as well. They do not know how to do powder correctly. I went here in a pinch and the guy/owner did not do the application correctly and it took over 90 minutes. The powder was peeling and cracking within 2 days. When I was able to get to my usual tech, he immediately knew the process used was incorrectly done and whatever he did made it really difficult to remove whatever mixture was applied. Met my girlfriend at this salon...wanted something close to the Palisades Center which is midway between our homes... WHAT A FIND! This may have been the BEST Spa Pedicure I've ever had... and I've had more than I can count. My girlfriend didn't want to waste the extra money on this...but I have made a convert of her! It was so relaxing and incredible! My legs felt great after all the massages and creams. They even included hot wax for our whole foot... not just the heel. I have been a Customer of Top Nails salon since they first opened. I have seen the ownership change at least 3 times but the people for the most part did not change. They did beautiful art work that whenever I got a compliment would recommend them, to Everyone. I loved going here it was time away from work and family just for me. Today's events changed that for good I'm afraid. I was verbally insulted and physically threaten by another Customer repeatedly. I asked her to stop and at one point had to say to her that if she came near me I would have call 911. All of this went on within ear shot of owner Tony. When I asked Tony for assistance he said that we both should stop talking. However when the other customer left he treated her like an honored guest even after her threats and insults to me. She laughed at me with staff and even called me an "entitled Jew" despite the fact that I am Roman Catholic. The fact was she was a woman of color who must spend more money there than I do because this White woman was abused and Management did nothing to stop it or even apologize for my public humiliation. My stylist repeatedly apologized because she could see the embarrassment in my face as I had to fight back tears. Although I will miss seeing Wenny and the girls as they put the beautiful designs on my nails, and Billy, who would not, I will not be able to return. Apparently it is ok to Fat shame, make anti semitic comments and threaten bodily harm if you are a person of color against a White woman. Management clearly thinks this is acceptable. If you choose to go and patronize this salon and you are a white , non supermodel beware. You are on your own and it may cost you more than the price of the polish. read more

The best ! Cathy, Erica and another Spanish woman (i forgot her name) are absolutely incredible ! I've had difficulty with my nails due to chemo therapy and Cathy makes them look Like "normal" nails. I'm particular about how I like my nails done and I've been coming to Sophia for so long I don't even need to say anything. They recently acquired a new owner and this place has had a major upgrade in equipment and desks. They've always had a huge selection of nail polish, and their UV gel polish collection is seriously the largest I've seen. Extras are cheap, like jewels and sparkly shit-- as well as their designs. If you want something specific they can most of the time accommodate. Also have airbrushing here. I've not partaken of the wax or anything but everyone looks pretty happy leaving. Wouldn't suggest this place at all. Went in for a regular manicure, and was immediately told "are you sure you don't want a gel manicure? This one won't last you very long." OKay, not the best first impression, but I let it go. My manicurist put the polish on so thick that it still wasn't completely dry when I got home. But yet, the polish was still see through? It makes no sense. If I had known that "not very long" meant a day, I would have walked out. My nails are already cracking and they have indents in them because the polish was put on so thick. My nails were not even filed evenly and are crooked. I know it's only a $10 manicure, but this was disappointing. read more

Sigh. I wish I would have listened to the previous reviews. I'm essentially typing this with no fingernails. The spanish (I'm guessing) homegirl took EVERYTHING I had. I mean she filed me down to nubbings. She kept filing, and filing and filing... And of course you're wondering, did you tell her anything?-- of course I did, but she assured me she was just shaping them. well she shaped them into nothingness. I can't speak for the other two (possibly asian) men that were doing nails, cause they seemed to know what they were doing, but this girl... RUN! Then to add insult to injury, the GLOBS or gel polish. It was layered so thick I'm sure I could peel them off if I wanted. Suffice to say the only consolation is that the prices are cheap. I typically dont want to give any business a rating so low that it affects the good employees' performance rating so I dont leave bad reviews. However the service that I received on 9/28/19 from an older Asian woman (sitting next the payment counter near the entrance) was horrible! So much so that I'm making myself late for dinner to write this! This woman was more concerned with EVERYONE walking in than my hands. Whichbbn is often times the case when you dont want a pedicure as well. I have gotten dozens of manicures and I'm accustomed to the slight confusion they seem to have when someone that looks like me wants a manicure but that's not an excuse at all for the butchering my hands took. I still have tender finger tips as I type this review. I had to stop her from cutting into the skin under my nails so many times that I intended to just get up and walk out but that wasnt the best option so I asked her to just clean my cuticles and polish my nails. And even that was done HORRIBLY. The paint coverage is bad and the edges are over flowing with clear polish. Smh. I did receive satisfactory service about 1 month prior which is the only reason that I returned but I wont EVER be back! If u do go here my advice is NEVER let the Older Asain Woman Up Front touch your hands. And if any service tech attempts to cut your nails with a cuticle cutter just get up and walk out. They dont have any training or respect for your nails! (In my experiences). This establishment needs to be reestablished so that people's vacations aren't disrupted by ailments from Services they paid for in an attempt to pamper themselves. They suck for that! read more

I've been coming to get gel manicures here for about a year. The nail tech that I had last week was lazy and used nail polish bottle gel instead of the paint brush and jar of 100% uv gel. I asked her why and she made up some nonsense about how it's the same thing. I came back since the gel manicure was separating from my nails and dirt was getting trapped in between by nails .. Then she said she'd be with me in 5 minutes and ended up waiting for about 30-45. If she had done what I asked, to begin with.. I would still be a happy customer. What a shame. read more

Wish I could vote zero stars! After hearing $20 for a gel mani, I thought how bad could it be? Well, this place is HORRIBLE. First off, apparently filing nails and cutting nails is not part of the manicure? I had to ask for my nails to be filed, "oh you want them filed?" Yes I would like them cleaned up for a manicure. Secondly, no lotion/hand massage is included with your manicure. She instructed me to the lotion by the door on my way out. Last, something in the gel polish's top coat they use makes your finger burn when you let the polish sit under the light. Apparently this happens to everyone but it "lasts longer." My finger still feels numb one hour later. I've been to a lot of nail salons and this is the WORST PLACE EVER. read more
