And when I went back to my car, there was a very graffiti covered bent sign, which looked like it was saying parking for the theater. I'm paranoid because some of those tow companies are straight up scary. Just saying park at your own risk. The bathroom... clean, easy to navigate with soap, easy to use sink and you get to wipe your hands. Concessions - yes! And thank you for having such a great selection, actual ice, fountain soda... delicious popcorn that was fresh... and Bravo to the sweetheart responding to my epic butter request by demonstrating how heavy the bag was.... I love you so much! The prices are completely great too! I am always scared going in to a new space, especially when I am going to be sitting down in that seat for 2 hours. What a great surprise this was - when I picked the seat on the screen, the guy said he felt the ADA seat was really the best seat in the theater at Laurelhurst. After sitting down, I agree - the view was perfection and the seat was amazingly comfortable.

I love that personal touch. They show a lot of arthouse style offerings and also some of the newer big blockbuster movies. The interior is much bigger than the outside would suggest. I believe there are a total of 3 screens, the #1 movie screen being the largest of the 3. There is a balcony level to screen #1 that still has some of the original seating (ok maybe not original) if you're into that sorta thing. All seats are comfortable and while they don't recline fully they do recline a bit with a rocking motion for comfort. Great little concession stand where you can find typical theater offerings (popcorn, soda, candy) and a nice selection of draft beer and wines also. They do get pizza directly from Escape From NY (on 23rd Ave.) so if you get hungry and need something bigger they have you covered.

I'm surprised there isn't a McDonalds ball pit in the entrance) Anyway, I walk toward a small gathering near the door of one of the theaters, where a man is physically blocking the entrance and giving people an extremely thorough sales pitch about the menu. When he sees me, he sends me back to the bar. What da hayl? After a few minutes, he returns, walks me back to the theater, and gives me the whole spiel on his iPad. Can I unsubscribe from this part? It feels like sitting through a timeshare presentation to get a free vacation, except the vacation is just entrance to the theater you bought overpriced tickets for. Okay, finally in the man cave, er, theater. Every room feels like a man cave with a different random theme. Man cave, but vaguely Japan? Man cave, but, dunno... log cabin? Man cave, but what if the floor was also a television? It feels like every idea anyone had during construction made it into the final draft. (I'm not sure if there is a log cabin room but there probably is) 15 minutes into the movie, a waiter comes in to take orders. Not during the previews for some reason (remember, you can't order for yourself at the bar before the movie). The waiter is talking as if we're having a conversation at a bar, and for some reason, he's printing paper receipts and tearing them at a decibel so extreme an erupting volcano would've given him a side-eye. Oh, the movie has subtitles? Yeah, he's also standing in front of you. I can literally hear every part of every conversation he's having with the other patrons. "DO YOU WANT POPCORN AS WELL?!" Overall the experience feels like a psychological experiment. I'm convinced that somewhere in Studio One a lab coat-clad scientist is asking: 'What if every single aspect of this experience was bizarre and awkward?' Or maybe a prank show. Is someone secretly filming us? Did I just drop money to be pranked? This is the only local theater I've ever been to that made me want to go to a corporate theater instead.

I did show up, purchased a ticket on the way in for ADA - the whole row was marked empty... when I walked in, imagine my surprise that it was full of people who were supposed to be seated elsewhere. Being honest, people are so crazy these days - I am already exhausted so I just crawled up the stairs to the seats empty above. My food gets delivered and the guy was confused trying to deliver it to the guy manspread over three seats of ADA with his girlfriend and his coat and all his stuff thrown over chairs. I waved saying I had to move because they were in my seat. Suddenly manspread guy - it was exhausting seriously. He kept getting up and sitting back down and getting up and sitting back down while apologizing and saying I'll move all my things... at this point I'm already seated dude. I really just want to eat my flatbread pizza in peace and watch the previews. I genuinely had to ask him to please stop and sit down. So, hay - usually, us disabled people are already tired and broken and in pain - I really don't have it in me to deal with you. I get an ADA spot because walking up even one stair is painful but asking you to move and standing around while you do so - it's easier just pole vaulting up the stair. Being able bodied is temporary and I encourage you to please just be mindful of how your actions affect other people.

In addition, the audio had major issues during the first half of the film, and the movie had to be paused midway to address the problem. While we understand that technical difficulties can happen, the way the situation was handled added to our frustration. When we spoke with the manager, Danielle, her response came across as defensive and dismissive of our experience. This was particularly frustrating given that she had a box fan positioned on the counter directly facing her, while guests in the theater were left dealing with the heat. It made the situation feel minimized rather than acknowledged. We do appreciate that refunds were provided, but customer service is just as important as compensation. A more empathetic and proactive approach would have made a significant difference in how this situation was received. We hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve both facility conditions and customer service moving forward

It used to be the Swedish Evangelical Mission Covenant Church. There's some cool millwork, antique light fixtures, and large curved staircases, but overall this is on the tamer side for McMenamins properties. The venue had standing room and high-tops on the same level as the stage. Upstairs is theater style seating that was decently comfortable and had a counter spot to put your drink. There weren't any bad views, and the sound system was better than I expected. I think there are two bars, one on each floor, but the upstairs one was closed for the small event I attended. They serve drinks and small bites, not full meals. Parking is challenging nearby.
